Angelyne Movie — Market for This?

I wondered about this, myself. Only Californians will understand this. I am from Norcal and I remember seeing her billboards in Los Angeles on vacations or visits to family.

I’d rather see a Robin Byrd bio.

It's a miniseries. I'm morbidly curious.

I used to run into her in the French Market in WeHo all the time. She got her mail at the mailbox store there, so was in almost daily.

Ever since the French Market closed back in 2015, I no longer see her. Not even driving around town in her pink Corvette.

Wonder what happened to her.

Series? My, I thought this was just a TV movie.

kind of sad that she was still having to hustle and sell things out of her car when she is an old lady. Still dressing like that in her 70s. She is now 72 and is six months younger than me. And still hustling from what I read about her recently.

Watched the first episode. She comes as a user and a cipher. I do wonder if she's at all sexual though despite her image.

In all of the still shots, the actress looks too happy and approachable to portray Angelyne, who to me always comes across as a delightful-yet-joyless gypsy huckster, even in stills.

Angelyne is the epitome of Hollywood and American pop culture. She’s famous for nothing. The stories about her holding contests for a free ride in her famous pink car only for the winners to be forced to buy her groceries are legendary!

I watched the series - camptastic!

I binged watch all 5 episodes. It's quite good. Some of it is speculative since Angelyne has seemed to have genuinely dissociated from who she used to be and refuses to talk about her previous identity.

She has distanced herself from and denounced the project despite being paid one million and given a producer credit. She believes only she should play herself.

She's coming out with a documentary soon which tells the whole true story and debunks the miniseries.

There was another documentary that was going to be released about 10 years ago but because Angelyne would refuse to tell the filmmaker anything about her past, he had to go and do his own research.

She wasn't very happy about that and withdrew from the project and took him to court. The documentary is unfinished and he can't legally finish it without Angelyne's approval and authorization which she refuses to give.

This is all covered in the miniseries and the filmmaker is played by sexy rising star Lukas Gage (who looks like the gay version of Seth Gamble).

How did this Do ratings wise? I haven’t heard much about it or seen it mentioned on social media. I thought it was fun and reasonably entertaining, but she is a very niche personality. While watching I couldn’t help but wonder who this was meant to appeal to (other than SoCal gays).

r26 there are no ratings anymore for most platforms. This is on Peacock, the NBC/Universal site. They don't release numbers. Its not important if people watch, only that subscribers feel like there is a lot they could watch or might want to watch at some point.

Why does everyone assume that Anglelyne is purely an LA thing? I grew up in small town New Zealand and was fascinated with her from the nineties onwards. She's a pretty well-known icon (though admittedly niche) throughout the world because of her sign and the car.

The ageing makeup in Angelyne is worse than a late 80s Jackie Collins made for home video mini series.

I just watched this and I hated it. There is no reason to waste five hours on this cunt of a cipher. She's unlikable, she's not entertaining, her story is dull and she's not the icon she and the writers think she is. I just don't get it.
