Today, it's associated with ugly, masculine women. It's so sad. I thought Rachel Ward was gorgeous and sexy with short hair in the 1984 movie Against All Odds.

I am female - small with high cheek bones and a long neck. In my teens, 20s and 40s I had long hair but wore a lot of ponytails or wore my hair up - does anyone still wear a bun with a pencil or chopstick? … in my 40s I got a weird growth under my chin underneath the skin. My dermatologist removed it but he was an old man and the cosmetic thing didn’t occur to him. The way he did it the musculature under my chin and throat sagged and I got a “waddle.” I can’t wear my hair up or back or short anymore because of my saggy under chin. Soooobbbb .

The problem with having short hair for the average woman especially maintaining a pixie cut is that it requires a lot of visits to the hairdresser. The haircut for a woman vs men's haircut are outrageous. Lately, the price for a decent haircut by a good hairdresser starts at $40-50.
