For a movie that was basically DTV and coming at a time when the horror genre wasn't exactly thriving, this is not bad. A lot of people compare this one to Carrie but to me it feels more like Christine with the genders reversed and a mirror in place of the car.
The cast helps keep things afloat. Karen Black does her usual balance of camp and pathos as the lead's appearance driven mother. Kristin Dattilo (sister of Days of Our Lives actor Bryan Dattilo) is believable as the genuinely well intentioned friend of Harvest's character. Tom Bresnahan and Ricky Paul Goldin fill out the hunk quotient (by 1990 standards) and Charlie Spradling is well cast as the mean girl.
The climax does go on a bit too long, but the ending at least takes a risk. Streaming on tubi and roku.
