And who is surprised by that BBC choice?

by Anonymousreply 1May 17, 2022 7:14 AM

Does anyone care?

by Anonymousreply 2May 17, 2022 7:16 AM

I'm more surprised that only one cast-member is a trans woman of colour, given it's the BBC.

by Anonymousreply 3May 17, 2022 7:17 AM

Crazy eyes and a six pack! Stunning!

by Anonymousreply 4May 17, 2022 7:18 AM

She’s adorable in that show

by Anonymousreply 5May 17, 2022 7:19 AM

Was she given a brick to throw?

by Anonymousreply 6May 17, 2022 7:22 AM

Is this a guest stint? "Blossom" suggests not. Wouldn't the Heartstopper contract come with options that would preclude the actor accepting another series regular role?

by Anonymousreply 7May 17, 2022 7:34 AM

Dr Who and Mrs It.

by Anonymousreply 8May 17, 2022 7:37 AM

Who cares about Dr. Who. Its some show in England. I only care about things that are happening in New York City. No other city exists.

- eldergay class of 74

by Anonymousreply 9May 17, 2022 7:42 AM

Well of course she is.

by Anonymousreply 10May 17, 2022 7:47 AM

Maybe the Dr. can help him look more like a female.

by Anonymousreply 11May 17, 2022 7:52 AM

Dr Who used to be brilliant but that was a long time ago. Once it became 'woke' nobody wanted to watch it. People expect a great story line, not a lecture. Haven't watched it in years, doubt I will again.

by Anonymousreply 12May 17, 2022 7:52 AM

Christopher Eccelston was the last great Doctor. I watched a couple since but don't really care for it anymore.

by Anonymousreply 13May 17, 2022 7:56 AM

*T*R*A*N*S*P*A*M*

by Anonymousreply 14May 17, 2022 7:58 AM

Long Hair and a Penis....Yep...Definitely a woman.......100%.......I wonder where the GOP GAY RELOCATION CAMPS will be in 2025?....I am assuming Arizona?

by Anonymousreply 15May 17, 2022 8:01 AM

GOP? Doctor Who is a British show.

by Anonymousreply 16May 17, 2022 8:02 AM

Like the girl with a good bulge.

by Anonymousreply 17May 17, 2022 8:21 AM

🤮🤮🤮ffs

by Anonymousreply 18May 17, 2022 8:30 AM

Britain is a sole hellhole. You can’t piss without someone declaring it a hate crime.

by Anonymousreply 19May 17, 2022 8:47 AM

It's kind of funny that Mandip Gill plays the Doctor's recent companion and her character is named Yasmin and now the actress who plays the new companion is named Yasmin.

by Anonymousreply 20May 17, 2022 8:54 AM

[quote] I'm more surprised that only one cast-member is a trans woman of colour, given it's the BBC.

r3 Do these, uhm woke shows that feature diverse identities (instead of Ryan Murphy kind lgbTQ+ shows) normally have more than one MTF per show? Taking the celebration and spotlight from one another?

by Anonymousreply 21May 17, 2022 10:43 AM

Surely this is a late April Fool’s joke? I mean you couldn’t possibly get any more woke than this stunt casting.

by Anonymousreply 22May 17, 2022 11:01 AM

But is she a SEX WORKER? NO? LITERAL VIOLENCE!

by Anonymousreply 23May 17, 2022 11:06 AM

I like Billie Piper but she was terrible as Rose.

by Anonymousreply 24May 17, 2022 11:10 AM

But is she on the spectrum?

by Anonymousreply 25May 17, 2022 11:15 AM

Autogynephilia is a fetish. Gender dysphoria is a mental illness. Womanhood is not a costume.

by Anonymousreply 26May 17, 2022 11:37 AM

Ewwwwwwww

by Anonymousreply 27May 17, 2022 11:38 AM

More like a self-loathing gay man of color.

by Anonymousreply 28May 17, 2022 11:41 AM

America is far worse than the UK when it comes to the woke nonsense, R19. There is a reason why troons call Britain "terf island."

by Anonymousreply 29May 17, 2022 11:41 AM

R26 well said but you know the Trans lunatics will accuse you of literal violence.

by Anonymousreply 30May 17, 2022 11:42 AM

At the rate the US is going, women will be lucky to keep their drivers licenses. You bitches keep crying about trans people though. That seems like a good use of time.

by Anonymousreply 31May 17, 2022 11:44 AM

I like her in Heartstoppers. She could be good in this role.

She really makes people here pressed, lol.

by Anonymousreply 32May 17, 2022 11:46 AM

He

by Anonymousreply 33May 17, 2022 11:46 AM

What is a woman, R31?

by Anonymousreply 34May 17, 2022 11:51 AM

R32 Lmao sure, TRA. His acting was terrible.

by Anonymousreply 35May 17, 2022 12:03 PM

Finney is not "transgender". Finney is not an "actress". Finney is not a "Ms" or a "she".

Finney is a man. An actor. A Mr. A he.

by Anonymousreply 36May 17, 2022 12:09 PM

[quote] What is a woman?

Anyone who has completed a Year 9 biology class will tell you unequivocally that a woman is someone with XX chromosomes. And a twat. And ovaries. And hips. And the hormones to produce milk and a monthly period. And a female-unique skeletal structure.

But then, you knew all that R34. You're just pretending to be stupid per agenda.

by Anonymousreply 37May 17, 2022 12:15 PM

What is a woman?

"I have no clue."

Ketanji B.J.

by Anonymousreply 38May 17, 2022 12:17 PM

[quote]At the rate the US is going, women will be lucky to keep their drivers licenses. You bitches keep crying about trans people though. That seems like a good use of time.

Except for the tiny little FACT that the transtapo is one of the groups trying to take away those rights. Hell, they are trying to erase real women from existence.

by Anonymousreply 39May 17, 2022 12:19 PM

"Doctor Whoke."

Feh.

by Anonymousreply 40May 17, 2022 12:21 PM

R37 I was just asking a question so many people seem to have a hard time answering these days.

by Anonymousreply 41May 17, 2022 12:23 PM

Sad. The Trans agenda is a way of hollywood to emasculate black men. The is something wholly different from being gay and there's an agenda. Pop culture affects our subconscious, the pathway of oir brain neurons in ways you can't even imagine. I know about these secret CIA experiments. Stay woke.

by Anonymousreply 42May 17, 2022 12:24 PM

Why is the media so obsessed with “trans women of color?”

by Anonymousreply 43May 18, 2022 3:40 AM

It's odd that they couldn't cast an MTF that passes considering TRAs love to claim that MTFs are "unclockable".

R29, can't you be arrested over there or otherwise have the police called on you for not pandering to a trans person's identity? I think we (US & UK) are just as bad as each other on this issue, but in different ways.

To be fair r38, she never would have gotten on the bench if she spoke the truth. She'd be up against republicans that don't want more non-conservatives on the bench, and the democrats wouldn't want someone who doesn't pander to the T brigade.

by Anonymousreply 44May 18, 2022 4:41 AM

R43 Because it checks off almost all categories of "inclusiveness". All they have left is virtual signaling to cover up the real discontent in society.

by Anonymousreply 45May 18, 2022 4:53 AM

Trans, shmans: the way RTD has historically treated POC characters in his works, mostly likely "Rose" will be pining away unrequitedly for a white character (probably David Tennant, who apparently is coming back), or is in a relationship with a white character, who leaves them for someone else. This is gonna be a shit show.

by Anonymousreply 46May 18, 2022 5:06 AM

If you're a female viewer who related to the show through Rose, who will you have now that the Rose character is so damn different from you? Switch to relating to the male Dr.? I haven't watched the show in a LONG time, but is it now a comedy? If it is primarily a comedy like the movie "Galaxy Quest," then this casting choice might be okay. Or if they're (the showrunners) are just throwing everything at a dying show, then why not try this? Is that it? IMHO, Dr. Who shouldn't be too comical. It would explain all of the parodies of the show I've been noticing for a years. Oh dear.

by Anonymousreply 47May 18, 2022 5:14 AM

[quote]If you're a female viewer who related to the show through Rose, who will you have now that the Rose character is so damn different from you?

Based on "relatability" I have to assume most female viewers are now lez.

Yaz - lez, in love with the doctor

Bill Potts - big lez, loved doctor as a father figure

by Anonymousreply 48May 18, 2022 1:58 PM

This actor reads like a man with long hair. I see nothing "woman" in him, he doesn't even look like he'd look that great in full glamor drag.

by Anonymousreply 49May 18, 2022 2:01 PM

Fuck this. It's a basically a kid's show too. They are really trying to mainstream this, right?

by Anonymousreply 50May 18, 2022 2:14 PM

R48, sit down because I'm about to shock you...

Lesbians are actually women.

by Anonymousreply 51May 18, 2022 3:47 PM

[quote] transgender woman of color

So a black man. Ok.

by Anonymousreply 52May 18, 2022 4:05 PM

Well no shit, R51. It's just that the vast majority of women aren't lesbians, and therefore won't find a same sex romance story arc relatable.

by Anonymousreply 53May 18, 2022 4:14 PM

Except, R53, that's not true. Women are women. Romance is romance. Straight women can even relate to gay male romances. As a lesbian, I don't relate as well to gay male romances because I can't see it from either perspective because I'm not a man and I'm not attracted to men at all (but, even then, I can understand and relate to the romance part). But a straight woman watching a lesbian romance can still strongly relate to the 'woman in love' part from either character's perspective.

Trans characters just leave everyone except other trans cold because there is no inherent relatability from either men or women. There will never be a popular trans character because of that and any shows that push that shit in a main character will not last long.

by Anonymousreply 54May 18, 2022 4:26 PM

OP drops another tranny turd on DL.

by Anonymousreply 55May 18, 2022 5:30 PM

Agh! My own dog gone commercial!

by Anonymousreply 56May 18, 2022 5:35 PM

I genuinely wonder what aspiring actresses think of a man taking such a choice role away from them. I would be pissed.

by Anonymousreply 57May 18, 2022 5:39 PM

R57 TERF! Women don't matter anymore unless they're the water-bearers of this lunacy. (Just to make it clear: I have zero issues with the doctor being a black guy. Why not? About time, probably. The motive is pathetic though.)

by Anonymousreply 58May 18, 2022 7:48 PM

Does the BBC have to respond to ratings, how many people watching or are they able to just run amok wily nily cause they are on the public dime? If viewership on a repeating series drops do they have to respond? Do they tax payers & license payers get ANY voice on what is made? If not, seems a bit Putinesque: "We'll do whatever the hell we want, promote our issues, ram it down your gob, you'll pay your taxes & license fees, you'll have to swallow it & smile."

by Anonymousreply 59May 18, 2022 8:12 PM

I've been dying to start watching Doctor Who again. I think Clara was the last companion I could tolerate. After that, it was too woke for me and the final woke nail in the woke coffin has been wokely driven in.

by Anonymousreply 60May 18, 2022 8:17 PM

This is the Doctor's Rose, there is no other Rose. Fuck WOKE-ness!

gotta wuv it.

same crowd outraged anyone could be offended at female dr who

now upset over tranny companion.

by Anonymousreply 62May 18, 2022 8:42 PM

R62, Dr. Who is fictional. Women are not.

Dr. Who can be any race, any age, and either sex. Could also be a robot or a Plante of the Apes style monkey with enough imagination.

Men, however, cannot be women.

by Anonymousreply 63May 18, 2022 8:48 PM

All I know is she better win the Emmy, Gloden Globe, and Bafta or there will be consequences and then some healing.

by Anonymousreply 64May 18, 2022 9:21 PM

Defund that woke shit show central that is the BBC, now!

by Anonymousreply 65May 18, 2022 9:23 PM

They need to quit trying to be edgy and fixating on “representation” and just write decent fucking stories again. Everyone is frankly sick of all the narcissistic bullshit over pronouns and gender politics—it’s off putting and non-relatable to the average person. I kind of suspected Davies would pull something like this given he can’t write anything without having it revolve around sexuality.

by Anonymousreply 66May 18, 2022 9:31 PM

I love you R66.

by Anonymousreply 67May 18, 2022 10:15 PM

Having only one trans woman of color is unacceptable and problematic. We need to be seen! We matter!

by Anonymousreply 68May 18, 2022 11:15 PM

^ Just hold still ….. so we can position ourselves to drop kick you out of the community.

by Anonymousreply 69May 18, 2022 11:51 PM

R42 This isn't a QAnon forum or LSA. What kind of drugs are you on? Aluminum foil is for wrapping food, not making a hat in order to prevent the CIA and aliens from reading your thoughts.

by Anonymousreply 70May 19, 2022 2:03 AM

Is Laurence Fox willing to fuck it?

R72, you just know that Amy Yasbeck is the wokest of the woke and probably spent the last decade telling a little girl that it's fine if she wants to be a boy. "Honey, how about today? Do you feel like a boy yet? No? Okay, I'll check back in tomorrow."

by Anonymousreply 73May 19, 2022 6:06 AM

The flop will be inevitable, and I will be happy for that.

Doctor Who died in Matt Smith era.
