Lmao I busted out laughing at her calling Diana a “little heffa” lol.
Was Diana really that much of a saboteur and diva?

I would have thought they would have had sweet potato pie instead of beef.

Who doesn’t have a beef with DR??
by Anonymous | reply 2 | May 16, 2022 7:45 PM |
Stand in line, gurl...

Who hasn’t Patti trash-talked? I don’t anymore believe this story than I believe the moon is made of cheese. Seriously, anyone who thinks that The Supremes ran out of a venue just before a show and found a store selling the exact outfits, bought them, and brought them back needs to have their head examined.
Patti has a way with pies… and LIES.

Lol.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 16, 2022 7:56 PM |
Seriously, gotta agree with r4 here...
though to be fair, Ms. Ross was always a holier than thou grade AAA bitch and likely why light skin women are spoken of so negatively by many elder celebs in the community.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 16, 2022 8:10 PM |
Patti responds at 1:00 of r8 video.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 16, 2022 8:19 PM |
R8 that’s hysterical. Diana really through that shade.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 16, 2022 8:21 PM |
Everybody knows this. Gladys Knight had trouble with Ms. Ross too. Diana kicked Gladys and her PIPs right off the damn tour.
See Gladys wicked parody below.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 16, 2022 8:27 PM |
Aretha liked Diana well enough. She covered most of her songs! This is EPIC!
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 16, 2022 8:32 PM |
Patti had a point if it happened that way.
Diane, did you really do that? Girl. Yeah, you deserved to be pimp-slapped.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 16, 2022 8:41 PM |
Ross was extremely competitive, very alpha dog, and for all her confident "believe in yourselfism," she was also deeply insecure.
Per Gladys Knight and decades later while in conversation with Diana re those old days, she says that Ross offered "Well, Gladys, we all had to grow up."
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 16, 2022 8:42 PM |
When was that Gladys Knight/Supremes tour? I assume Gladys Knight was not a star then if she was opening for them.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 16, 2022 8:49 PM |
Patti had a beef with everyone. Aretha hated her.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 16, 2022 8:52 PM |
I think Mary Wilson wrote about this in Dreamgirl: My Life as a Supreme. The Supremes were still "The No-Hit Supremes" on tour with Patti Labelle and the Blue-Belles. The Supremes later recruited Cindy Birdsong from the Blue-Belles, and Patti was pissed.
Cindy on the left.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 16, 2022 8:53 PM |
The Cindy Birdsong situation in 1967 didn’t help matters either, but that was probably more Motown’s doing than any direct action on Diana’s part.
R15, yes Gladys & the Pips were an opening act for the Supremes. Diana got her pulled and replaced with a male artist or maybe a comedy act. I can’t remember the details.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 16, 2022 8:55 PM |
R17 they had hits by the time Cindy came
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 16, 2022 8:56 PM |
R19, Yes, but I didn't mean to say the Supremes had no hits when Cindy joined.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 16, 2022 8:59 PM |
This was Cindy's first television performance with the Supremes in 1967.

Was this a few minutes after the fat one went nuts because she had been replaced?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 16, 2022 9:11 PM |
Team Diane Ross. I drove a certain shady screaming diva during a tour stop many years ago. Sloppy drunk who loved her Henny VSOP.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 16, 2022 9:18 PM |
R21 Diana was tremendous there. She really was a STAR, no matter what anyone wants to say.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 16, 2022 9:26 PM |
Diana is a star, a beautiful woman with an amazing catalog of songs. Patty labelle is a nobody who needs to get a new attitude
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 16, 2022 9:33 PM |
Gitchie, Gitchie, ya ya oooh.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 16, 2022 9:49 PM |
Patti did not have a beef with everyone and isn't jealous of other female singers. She just doesn't like the ones who don't show respect. For example, she loves Ariana Grande. Aretha and Dionne also expressed their love for Ariana, and had nothing but praise for her.
It’s safe to say Patti LaBelle thinks Ariana Grande is an amazing singer — even better than her!
LaBelle recently saluted the singer stating:
“She’s surpassed her peers. And she does everything herself, which is not always the way with the young baby girls. She doesn’t need any machines. She’s a baby who’s able to sing like an older black woman.”
LaBelle pointed out a time when the two ladies were scheduled to perform for then-President Barack Obama’s Women of Soul concert at the White House in 2014. Grande was nervous to hit the stage, but LaBelle said she told her,
‘Girl, you’re a beast. Go up there and sing like that white-black woman you are.’ Ariana can sing me under the table—and listen, I can sing.”

I do not know, hand to my heart, how Diane lived to be 87 or whatever she is now, because she has been (has. been.) such an unhappy, uneducated, greedy thing for so long it just seems that given the odds SOMEONE had to be carrying at some point.
Personally, I've always gotten along with Her Supremacy. Mainly because I always keep my distance to two lengths of her fake eyelashes (if the space is big enough) and never, NEVER, NNNNNEEEEEVVVVVVERRRRR considered doing any business with her.
But as they say she's passed a lot of water since then.
Although it's plain the water pills aren't working. Lord, she's big. A good thing for someone her age.

Florence doesn't look fat in R22's video. Did she become fat after she was fired?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 16, 2022 10:10 PM |
R28, Patti was just being gracious, as when she had Ariana's age, she had a much stronger and richer voice, not to mention that by the time she was in her 30s, she could belt out notes that Ariana will always struggle to reach. In fact, that midget only shines because the vast majority of singers nowadays are appallingly bad.
However, I do find it surprising that notorious egomaniac Miss Franklin would have had anything nice to say about anyone but herself. She only ever spoke nicely of other singers when they were deferential to her, or she was backed into a corner and knew that she'd look awful if she didn't say something pleasant.

[quote] Florence doesn't look fat in [R22]'s video. Did she become fat after she was fired?
Dreamgirls reference. Fat girl finds out she’s been replaced and throws an end of Act 1 hissy fit. In real life, it wasn’t like that.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 16, 2022 10:32 PM |
Diana is very smart. I’m tired of the word uneducated being tossed onto anyone just because they didn’t pay thousands for a piece of paper. Most college grads aren’t all that smart.

Black women are funny.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 16, 2022 10:50 PM |
Diane didn’t need a college degree. She had a pvssy.

They're bitchy funny too.

Diana Ross had beef with all the ladies of Motown, or they had beef with her. Mary Wells, Dee Dee Sharp, Brenda Holloway, Martha Reeves, and especially Gladys Horton of the Marvelettes, whom Diana tried to run down (or threatened to run down) with her station wagon.
The Marvelettes were the first Queens of Motown, having scored Motown's (Tamla) first #1 hit on the Billboard charts. The single-minded and competitive Diana went after Gladys to snatch her crown.

The only singer that the 5 DIVAS ever publicly and repeatedly agreed upon is the greatness of Nippy.
Aretha, Gladys, Ms. Ross, Patti and Dionne were all thrilled and impressed by Whitney's talent.
Well, maybe not always thrilled.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | May 16, 2022 11:32 PM |
Love that photo at R44. Diana's smile is masking her thinking: "Gurl, get your big titties away from rubbin' against my little artificial ones, right NOW!!" lol
by Anonymous | reply 45 | May 16, 2022 11:42 PM |
Patti just likes to play the Grande dame, pun intended. Anyone who fawns over her, which I’m sure Arianna did at the White House, gets her love. Patti is widely known as a capricious person who likes whomever likes her.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | May 16, 2022 11:45 PM |
Oops! My mistake, Dee Dee Sharp was a Philly Girl and was never a Motown artist. R41, it was Dee Dee's whonhad a problem with Diana. Miss Ross was flirting with Dee Dee's man, Kenny Gamble, so Dee Dee bitchslapped her.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | May 16, 2022 11:48 PM |
Ariana has a pretty voice but there is no emotion to her voice. No feeling. And she can’t enunciate
by Anonymous | reply 48 | May 16, 2022 11:55 PM |
Here's how it all began. Diana trying to lure Cindy away from Patti in order to replace Flo.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | May 16, 2022 11:57 PM |
Gladys Knight and the Pips were opening for the Supremes on tour. Miss Ross, competitive and insecure, was unhappy with how enthusiastic the crowds were for the opening act and called Gordy and had Gladys and the Pips replaced with another act.

[quote]When was that Gladys Knight/Supremes tour? I assume Gladys Knight was not a star then if she was opening for them.
R15, Knight's biography (via Wikipedia) says it was 1968:
[quote]In Knight's autobiography, Between Each Line of Pain and Glory: My Life Story, she stated that Diana Ross had the group removed from being The Supremes' opening act on a 1968 tour for, according to Knight, being 'too good'.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | June 17, 2022 1:10 AM |
Diana Ross has managed to stay a star from the 1960s until today. She was just the headliner at the Queen's Jubilee Concert. She might not have much formal education, but she is far from uneducated in the ways of the world.
