Why do straight men wear such ugly underwear?

Straight American men do not buy their own underwear until they are 24. Until then, their parents give these items to them as Christmas/birthday gifts. Afterwards, males buy the value packs at TJMaxx/Ross/Walmart.

And, since at least 1989, they wear whatever they see Michael Jordon wear.

I’ve never actually paid much attention to the underwear of the “straight” men I’ve hooked up with. I think they usually wear basic boxers.

Most millennial men I know (and under) wear good underwear, Calvins bikinis or other knit boy shorts, boxers or fun underwear. No one wears tighty whiteys anymore. Some men wear nothing which is also fun.

Designer undies are too feminine/fetishy....real non-self aware men wearing plain, everyday undies *not TRYING to be sexy* is what makes a man *actually* sexy, haha. Hipster neon briefs from Urban Outfitters, Versace bikini briefs, and fetish undies are all too lingerie-adjacent for my tastes...though apparently plenty of 'mos enjoy wearing panties too. Tighty whites look good on a guy with a great body. In my college frat house it was pretty much all boxers, which was ok because sometimes there would be some floppage and you could get a peek.

It depends. Straight Blacks and Latinos (Dominicans and Puerto Ricans) here in NY, are very conscious of their clothing. So everything from socks to underwear is well thought out. Especially with the saggers.

Designer boxers and trunks are particularly a big seller. Overall, I think millennials and younger pay closer attention to their underwear than older straight guys. Thanks to IG, snap, tik tok, etc

Call it internalized homophobia but I hate Andrew Christian underwear as much I hate most gay club music.

It's buried underneath their sweat stained hoodies at the bottom of their moldy-ass hamper, twice every month they remove them and throw them in the wash. It's draped over their ugly leather furniture (usually black) and hiding behind their game consoles next to the lone box of cereal they opened this morning and left there. And for some reason they always have large gold plated mirrors hanging up somewhere not even my Aunt Alice would like.

Expensive underwear is just another means to exploit the gay market.
