I loved the movie, one of the last of its kind. , so I will check out the TV show.

That was some lackluster acting and storytelling. Horrible dialog (that line when we first meet the mother of his child 🙄) and plot twists. He always outsmarts everyone, key witnesses magically appear in court, unrealistic court proceedings, police shows ip right in time etc. I'm not surprised CBS bailed on this show and it ended up on Netflix. The way he was telling his "driver" the 101 of lawyering in the desert was especially cringeworthy.

^Actually I do watch them all the time, but the Lincoln Lawyer is just lazy screenwriting and doesn't even make an effort to be subtle or realistic.

Also, a good show does not need characters to explain proceedings or storylines tor the audience.

Does Christopher Gorham play Manuel's lover?

It seems decent so far. He's good, his accent slips through a little bit.. could be impossbile to completely flatten it. Not bad to look at

They made the character a little more Spanish per the LA Times interview. It is LA.

Neve Campbell has a lot of actor’s ticks she needs to tamp down.

If you would watch it all the way through to the end you would see that it is an excellent movie.

I love the movie.

The Netflix show is very Netflix. Cheesy and second-rate. But I will watch it in a pinch.

The lead actor looks like the love child of Joe Tenney and Demian Bechier.

I tried rewatching the film recently and made it 20 minutes in. Better Call Saul really raised the bar for lawyer stories. TLL seemed REALLY dumb by comparison, like CSI Miami level dumb. Can't imagine watching the show

Just watched the first episode, will keep watching it just for Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. Physically totally my type. Never saw the movie or read the books, so this story is new to me. I like the way his character is written and played, an intriguing mix of 'I know what I'm doing' and 'I can't do it.', both in a quite authentic way.

R44, the casting here is true to the literary source. The character is literally half-Mexican.

R44 You can add interracial marriage, gay characters, obligatory black/Asian friend to the diversity list. I'm gay and I think representation is great, but it's just ridiculous that they add the same stuff in every series just to check every "diversity box".

The title is so dumb.

The first episode gave a perfect opportunity for a frontal shot, when he took a shower after coming back from the beach. I wonder if Netflix planned to do it but the actor chickened out.

It was entertaining, but I figured out one of the big plot points by episode 2 or 3.

I really enjoy the show. It's very low-key, not very demanding, just fine for weeknights. The show perfectly fits the mold of a CBS cop drama show like Magnum PI, so I'm surprised they passed on it. And I like Manuel Garcia Rulfo, physically and his acting. Only watched four episodes so far, but I'll finish it.

Watched the entire season, very enjoyable. As R54 says, it's very low-key, and understated.

Started second season and was quickly reminded that Angus Sampson delivers all his lines in the most grotesquely affected vocal fry. Why don’t directors say, “you can just speak, you know. It IS possible” instead of waving through such awful displays of pretentiousness?

I’m not feeling Season 2A at all— neither the “Jagged Edge” ripoff main storyline with Lana Parrilla nor the Cisco/Lorna biker-gang relapse subplot. Here’s hoping 2B shapes up 2B better.

Manuel Garcia Rulfo was in Ryan Reynold’s movie 6 Underground and he was sexy as hell in that. I’m guessing that they had a torrid relationship during the filming, I have no basis to say that, just wishful thinking.
