The most fuckable man of the Eighties
Didn’t see this one coming.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | May 13, 2022 2:44 PM |
He was so fucking hot!
by Anonymous | reply 2 | May 13, 2022 2:49 PM |
I suppose it could be cancer. Seventy nine isn't that young.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 13, 2022 2:50 PM |
Always struck me as a hot unassuming man. the real thing.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 13, 2022 2:52 PM |
I genuinely thought he was already dead. Haven't seem him in anything in over a decade.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 13, 2022 2:56 PM |
He had an odd career. It was always strange to me that he didn't have a bigger career. He was hot and a very good actor.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 13, 2022 2:56 PM |
Has Burt Ward commented?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | May 13, 2022 2:57 PM |
[bold]NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO00000000!!![/bold]
My brother and I just LOVE him😭😭😭😢
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 13, 2022 2:57 PM |
Ahhh, this is sad. He was terrific in Tremors and Big Business (with Lily and Bette). He was a hunk of burnin' love.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 13, 2022 3:01 PM |
I remember the first time I saw him in "Cast a Deadly Spell" way back when. He really got my attention.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 13, 2022 3:02 PM |
Oh shit. Didn't realize he was 79.
"Tremors" was our family's Christmas movie.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 13, 2022 3:02 PM |
Oh damn. I also didn't know he was 79, I would have thought 5-10 years younger. This one really sucks, he's such a good actor.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 13, 2022 3:07 PM |
He was so brilliant and heartbreaking as Gus Grissom in The Right Stuff.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 13, 2022 3:07 PM |
He was a sexy guy (although not in the most conventional way) and a good actor.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 13, 2022 3:10 PM |
Its a shame he never got to play an older version of a Jon Bernthal character.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 13, 2022 3:10 PM |
Fred Ward was my idea of a real man. I think part of what made him so hot and sexy may be that he didn’t know that he was hot and sexy.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 13, 2022 3:15 PM |
I did not realize he was that old. RIP.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 13, 2022 3:18 PM |
His dad was a jailbird. His mom remarried to a Carny roustabout. I agree that he seemed to be unaware he was sexy.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 13, 2022 3:19 PM |
I would’ve ate his ass.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 13, 2022 3:19 PM |
R10, The scene in "Big Business" where he was exercising with his shirt off was definite rewind and pause material.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 13, 2022 3:22 PM |
Wasn't he in that space movie?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 13, 2022 3:23 PM |
He was a younger and handsomer version of Charles Bronson.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 13, 2022 3:23 PM |
R23, Um, yeah!
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 13, 2022 3:24 PM |
His naked sex scenes in "Henry & June" were the only thing that made that film watchable.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 13, 2022 3:25 PM |
But what about his business? Big?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 13, 2022 3:26 PM |
He frequently played working class characters, but I remember he cleaned up beautifully when he played an anchorman in "Bob Roberts." I was surprised by how handsome he looked in a suit and tie.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 13, 2022 3:46 PM |
FUCK!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 13, 2022 3:49 PM |
He was 79?? That means he was in his forties when I crushed on him as a kid. Fuck!
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 13, 2022 4:09 PM |
Big Business.
Tighty whities.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 13, 2022 4:20 PM |
He looked sexier when he was old
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 13, 2022 5:10 PM |

Great actor, sexy as hell.
I think perhaps one of the reasons his career wasn't bigger was when Remo Williams flopped. I think it was supposed to make Ward a big star. However, he still had a great career and was wonderful in so many roles - The Right Stuff, Big Business, Miami Blues, Short Cuts, Sweet Home Alabama).
by Anonymous | reply 36 | May 13, 2022 5:14 PM |
I had no idea he was that old. Handsome guy.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 13, 2022 5:15 PM |
Joel Grey walked away with the raves and awards buzz for Remo Willilams. Poor Fred was almost like an afterthought.
But he continued to work steadily, appearing in a lot of high profiled work.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | May 13, 2022 5:19 PM |
Fred will be forever in the history book of films. Too bad he didn't present dong there. RiP
This movie, Henry & June, precipitated the creation of the NC-17 MPAA rating, which it earned in place of an "X". The two to three second shot of Anaïs Nin (Maria de Medeiros) looking at an explicit illustrated postcard involving a Japanese woman and a squid, less than three minutes into the opening credits of the film, was the cause of the NC-17 rating.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | May 13, 2022 5:35 PM |
He had a not conventionally sexy ass, but he couldn’t live forever
I had a crush on him
by Anonymous | reply 40 | May 13, 2022 5:49 PM |
He had an odd career. It was always strange to me that he didn't have a bigger career. He was hot and a very good actor
He wasn't a bigger star because Hollywood gave all his roles to Tommy Lee Jones.
His was so hot in Henry & June, despite the bald cap. He also seemed a natural to be cast in a Tarantino film; it's a wonder why he never was.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | May 13, 2022 6:46 PM |
Perhaps he didn't want to put up with Tarantino's bullshit. Fred Ward always struck me as a guy who was generally laid back, but didn't tolerate bullshit.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | May 13, 2022 7:35 PM |
Excellent as a scowly Gus Grissom in "The Right Stuff".
RIP
by Anonymous | reply 44 | May 13, 2022 7:56 PM |
Such a great body.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | May 13, 2022 8:01 PM |
He was so hot in Big Business
by Anonymous | reply 46 | May 13, 2022 8:12 PM |
We were neighbors in Paris. he was a friendly man.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | May 13, 2022 8:36 PM |
I loved him and Joel Grey in Remo Williams. I wish the movie had been a bigger hit.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | May 13, 2022 8:41 PM |
Sounds like he might have had a brain disease of some type. From r20s link:
Donations in his memory can be made to the Boston University Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy Center.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | May 13, 2022 8:51 PM |
Oh, Roone!
by Anonymous | reply 50 | May 13, 2022 9:07 PM |
The amazing thing about his undeniable off-the-charts sexiness in BIG BUSINESS is that he doesn't even have a sex scene! It's all about Ed Herrmann and Danny Gerroll drooling over him.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | May 13, 2022 9:14 PM |
Sad. He was good at his craft consistently, and I loved him in "Henry and June."
Rest in Peace, Mr. Ward.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | May 13, 2022 9:25 PM |
Big Business is still funny and enjoyable. The subplot with Ed and Danny was actually tastefully done. We the audience totally understand their attraction to Ward. He was so hot in this film and his sweet demeanour made him even sexier.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | May 13, 2022 10:48 PM |
We were neighbors in Paris. he was a friendly man.
R47 I would like to hear more, please.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | May 14, 2022 12:21 AM |
Where are the celebrity tributes? Other than this half assed one from Kevin Bacon.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | May 14, 2022 1:29 AM |
Reese Witherspoon, Matthew Modine, and Melanie Lynskey all tweeted lovely tributes to him r55.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | May 14, 2022 1:44 AM |
And Danny Gerroll also mourned him on FB today, adding to his coincidental post and photo from Big Business from earlier in the week "in anticipation of tbt" obviously not predicting Fred's death.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | May 14, 2022 2:20 AM |
In the 80s I always thought he was the hottest man. Fuck Tom Cruise. Ward was a real man.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | May 14, 2022 2:41 AM |
Predictions for the next two deaths Dan Hedaya and Mary Kay Place.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | May 14, 2022 2:51 AM |
When I read Harry Bosch novels, I always visualize Ward as Harry, not the guy from the Amazon series.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | May 14, 2022 3:03 AM |
Goodnight Roone…
by Anonymous | reply 61 | May 14, 2022 3:28 AM |
R54 is that implying what us thirsty whores want it to imply?
by Anonymous | reply 62 | May 14, 2022 3:39 AM |
He was good in every role he did. A very fine actor and sexy, too. Sad that he's passed.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | May 14, 2022 5:13 AM |
The life expectancy for males in the USA is 78.9 so Fred Ward made it. He deserves a medal for dying when he should!
by Anonymous | reply 64 | May 14, 2022 5:31 AM |
I got to know Mr. Ward a little bit in 2001, when he was in Atlanta for a couple weeks filming a movie. I managed a fancy restaurant up the block from the Four Seasons, where he was staying, and he walked over for dinner almost every night while he was in town. Just himself, came in after nine-ish when it wasn’t busy and sat at the bar and ate and hung out afterwards for a couple of hours drinking wine and shooting the shit with the staff and bartenders. Very soft spoken and kind, unpretentious and funny. And smart. He was very into art, and one of our bartenders was an artist and art student and they really hit it off. They brought in art books to show each other and talk about. Just a great, chill guy. Very sad news.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | May 14, 2022 5:34 AM |
He was soooo hot. I never thought of him being that old. He was hot and semi nude in a terribly boring movie called Two Small Bodies. He’s the only reason to watch it.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | May 14, 2022 5:39 AM |
He was way too hot for Lily in Big Business.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | May 14, 2022 5:43 AM |
That’s a nice memory, r65.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | May 14, 2022 6:02 AM |
R65 Did he fuck that bartender? lucky girl (or guy?)
by Anonymous | reply 69 | May 14, 2022 6:08 AM |
I think he came straight from the gym to this interview. Hot look and voice.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | May 14, 2022 7:06 AM |
He always looked like he could throw a mean fuck.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | May 14, 2022 11:13 AM |
This article has the hottest pic I have seen of him. With a beard!!
by Anonymous | reply 72 | May 14, 2022 11:30 AM |
Big Business is on Disney Plus FYI
by Anonymous | reply 73 | May 14, 2022 3:23 PM |
That big nose suggests sizemeat.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | May 14, 2022 6:31 PM |
my ex boyfriend once told me of an expedition he took with Fred ward and friends back in the 80s- they went to Nicaragua to take photos. All he'd say is that it was very homoerotic.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | May 14, 2022 6:40 PM |
RIP, Fred.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | May 14, 2022 9:54 PM |
“No bucks no Buck Rogers.”
Iconic Gus Grissom (acted by Ward) line from The Right Stuff.
