I remember the first time I saw him in "Cast a Deadly Spell" way back when. He really got my attention.

He was so brilliant and heartbreaking as Gus Grissom in The Right Stuff.

Its a shame he never got to play an older version of a Jon Bernthal character.

Fred Ward was my idea of a real man. I think part of what made him so hot and sexy may be that he didn’t know that he was hot and sexy.

I think perhaps one of the reasons his career wasn't bigger was when Remo Williams flopped. I think it was supposed to make Ward a big star. However, he still had a great career and was wonderful in so many roles - The Right Stuff, Big Business, Miami Blues, Short Cuts, Sweet Home Alabama).

I had no idea he was that old. Handsome guy.

Joel Grey walked away with the raves and awards buzz for Remo Willilams. Poor Fred was almost like an afterthought.

But he continued to work steadily, appearing in a lot of high profiled work.

Fred will be forever in the history book of films. Too bad he didn't present dong there. RiP

He wasn't a bigger star because Hollywood gave all his roles to Tommy Lee Jones.

His was so hot in Henry & June, despite the bald cap. He also seemed a natural to be cast in a Tarantino film; it's a wonder why he never was.

Perhaps he didn't want to put up with Tarantino's bullshit. Fred Ward always struck me as a guy who was generally laid back, but didn't tolerate bullshit.

Sad. He was good at his craft consistently, and I loved him in "Henry and June."

Big Business is still funny and enjoyable. The subplot with Ed and Danny was actually tastefully done. We the audience totally understand their attraction to Ward. He was so hot in this film and his sweet demeanour made him even sexier.

In the 80s I always thought he was the hottest man. Fuck Tom Cruise. Ward was a real man.

I got to know Mr. Ward a little bit in 2001, when he was in Atlanta for a couple weeks filming a movie. I managed a fancy restaurant up the block from the Four Seasons, where he was staying, and he walked over for dinner almost every night while he was in town. Just himself, came in after nine-ish when it wasn’t busy and sat at the bar and ate and hung out afterwards for a couple of hours drinking wine and shooting the shit with the staff and bartenders. Very soft spoken and kind, unpretentious and funny. And smart. He was very into art, and one of our bartenders was an artist and art student and they really hit it off. They brought in art books to show each other and talk about. Just a great, chill guy. Very sad news.

He was soooo hot. I never thought of him being that old. He was hot and semi nude in a terribly boring movie called Two Small Bodies. He’s the only reason to watch it.

He was way too hot for Lily in Big Business.
