Favorite Mel Brooks movie?

What is your favorite Mel Brooks directed movie?

I don't like any of them much quite frankly. I don't like loud clumsy humor.

For you, R1

Dracula is so inconsequential, I would've replaced it in the poll with Life Stinks.

by Anonymousreply 3May 13, 2022 2:01 PM

R1 Do you not like Madeline Kahn??

by Anonymousreply 4May 13, 2022 2:02 PM

Yes, I DO like her, R4.

by Anonymousreply 5May 13, 2022 2:02 PM

Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein are pretty much perfect from beginning to end.

I love the selection of orgy partners in History of the World Part I, but the most consistently funny parts of that movie are the Spanish Inquisition and the French Revolution.

If it's Madeline Kahn, then High Anxiety is where she's lead actress. She's supporting in most of the others.

That's hysterical, R7.

Maybe I'd better give that movie a chance.

by Anonymousreply 8May 13, 2022 2:15 PM

"You're wearing jeans?...bet they're TIGHT!" lol

by Anonymousreply 9May 13, 2022 2:18 PM

R8 First you need to watch every Hitchcock film to really understand the humor.

by Anonymousreply 10May 13, 2022 2:27 PM

I don't like Hitchcock movies either. I think he was very overrated.

by Anonymousreply 11May 13, 2022 2:36 PM

R11 Why don't you just tell us what you do like.

by Anonymousreply 12May 13, 2022 2:48 PM

Looking For Mr Goodbar, r12. OKAY?

by Anonymousreply 13May 13, 2022 2:50 PM

How come Life Stinks isn’t an option?

by Anonymousreply 14May 13, 2022 2:51 PM

R6 love Bea Arthur’s cameo in the Roman sequence and Cloris Leachman is just brilliant in the French Revolution part

by Anonymousreply 15May 13, 2022 2:52 PM

R13 Diane Keaton was terrible in that. They should have got Jessica Lange or Debra Winger for that role.

by Anonymousreply 16May 13, 2022 3:36 PM

[quote]Diane Keaton was terrible in that.

You're clearly not a gay man. Don't let the others see this^

by Anonymousreply 17May 13, 2022 3:44 PM

God, as teenagers we laughed our asses off at blazing saddles, especially the campfire farts scene. Nevertheless I picked high anxiety, mainly for Cloris Leachman.
