Craig Sheffer hit a wall quickly. He looked awful on One Tree Hill and that was almost twenty years ago.

Craig's brother Hogan ended up, after taking a long, weird path, being the headwriter of As The World Turns.

He was also hugely overweight....as in, you almost couldn't believe a muscular guy like Craig and this guy were related.

i was in an acting class with Craig circa 1984 in NYC..... nice, attractive guy like a billion others ..... easygoing, confident, masculine with no attitude.

R25 - did he smell nice? In my teenage 1989 mind he smelled like cotton candy and musk.

Gosh, he was a great asshole in Some Kind of Wonderful, made James Spader's fey little ways in Pretty in Pink seem downright sponge-like.

Um R27 Spader's Steff strength was in his fey-ness. He made a much more original, less stereotypical villain. Sheffer in SKOW was a stereotypical bully. Blegh.

I hate this movie. So unrealistic. I could give 3 shits how shallow that makes me.

Yes R28, it was so realistic of Spader to walk around the high school with no books dressed like a Miami Vice reject. Just wonderful. I love a 35 year old high school student, it's oh so understanding of the school system to keep him there, year after year.

advice to aspiring actresses....."never play opposite an actor better looking than you"

R32 lol it wasn't more realistic but I'd rather watch Spader's hot as the sun Steff strut around the school than fat Ricki Lake cry herself into a box of Krispy Kremes because the hot guy didn't want her

R32. Spader himself has joked about this on talkshows, saying that he didn't think Steff was actually a student but some guy in his early 20s who just 'hung out' around the high school.

The one thing I remember was Ricki saying something like, “Don’t step on the evil eye” when stepping off the bed in the morning; she says this to Craig, who stumbles, thinking there’s something on the floor.

I went out on a few dates with Ricki Lake around this time. I remember this movie airing during my freshman year in college. I called her afterwards to tell her how good she was (left a VM) and she never called me back and I never saw her again.

Ha, Spader was savvy at least. I just think Scheffer's portrayal is way more true to how guys in high school actually are, esp. the rich ones.

I think Sheffer's character's fiancee catches him and Ricky Lake dancing together in some nightclub, goes berserk and begins pummeling Ricki, who then falls to the floor in the fetal position.

This movie has the fashion down. Kenya bags, omg. And sugar babies. Vending machines. Cheap windbreakers. And the great bulky long coats.

It was a fun movie, very late 1980s style . It had a wonderful which included Betty Buckley and John Karlan.

When this aired originally, I wished it were a TV adaptation of the Armistead Maupin book, Babycakes.
