I hadn't really thought about it as a shout out to the insurrectionists, but yeah, I can see this as a "fuck you" to the current administration, though Clarence's entire career could be described as a "fuck you" to his enemies - real or perceived - rather than any kind of judicial philosophy.

Here's the irony of this: when all those revelations about Ginni came out, apologists like George Will try to make the argument that she doesn't represent his views. Shit like this demonstrates that they are two peas in a pod (or pigs in shit, if you will).

We need to have term limits. This lifetime appointment bullshit was invented in the 18th Century when people were lucky if they even lived to age 60. If the founders could've known how much lifespans would increase, it's likely they never would've made the lifetime appointment rule.

The Supreme Court can't change the Constitution or any of its amendments. That would defeat the purpose of the Court: to interpret the Constitution.
