The best Salt Water Taffy!

I was walking on the Boardwalk in Daytona Beach and found this homemade Salt Water Taffy shop. I has been there over 75+ years and has more gourmet flavors that Jellybelly. Anybody like taffy?

There used to be some good shit in P'town. Haven't been there in a long time, though.

by Anonymousreply 2May 6, 2022 10:32 PM

It looks delicious but I've got too many crowns to chance it.

by Anonymousreply 3May 6, 2022 10:32 PM

I can't eat that crap. It pulls my fillings out.

by Anonymousreply 4May 6, 2022 10:32 PM

the crowd here might enjoy salty loads but most of them can't afford dentures.. so taffy is out.

by Anonymousreply 5May 6, 2022 10:33 PM

I absolutely love it! A friend of mine visited Pismo Beach and brought me some from there. I did not like all the flavors. But what I did like was delicious!

by Anonymousreply 6May 6, 2022 10:33 PM

You lost me with "daytona beach."

Fuck floriduh!

by Anonymousreply 7May 6, 2022 10:33 PM

I love taffy, but worry about my teeth. However, I have found I can freeze the taffy, then suck it and it work fine.

by Anonymousreply 8May 6, 2022 10:36 PM

I love the stuff. My favorite flavors are the citrus flavors plus vanilla and molasses. MMMM-mmm. I generally avoid it though, because it's hard to stop eating it and before you know it you've consumed about 100,000 calories worth of taffy.

My favorites are Fralinger's or James' (owned by the same company), classic Atlantic City brands that are available on line.

We always have made our own.

Sad to think about people buying crap Chinese shit poured out of a trash bag into the bin.

^ Didi von Cuntington

And Consuela made it.

r10 The factory is in the store. I saw them making it while I was there.

by Anonymousreply 12May 6, 2022 11:14 PM

You all sound fat.

by Anonymousreply 13May 6, 2022 11:17 PM

Did you ever go to a taffy pull party? They were big in my parent's day.

by Anonymousreply 14May 6, 2022 11:22 PM

Hate salt water taffy.

Love candy corn.

Go figure.

by Anonymousreply 15May 6, 2022 11:24 PM

I like taffy when it is flattened and made brittle. I can still remember eating it when we visited Niagara Falls on a family vacation in the late 60s.

Wow. How old are you?

by Anonymousreply 17May 7, 2022 12:29 AM

I'm generally not a taffy person, but I like the chocolate and licorice taffy from this place on the Wildwood, NJ boardwalk

At that age I am surprised you have any teeth to chew it.

by Anonymousreply 20May 7, 2022 12:57 AM

I grew up going to Atlantic City, so I love SWT.

by Anonymousreply 21May 7, 2022 1:15 AM

I like blue taffy

by Anonymousreply 22May 7, 2022 1:18 AM

I was molested by a taffy salrsman

by Anonymousreply 23May 7, 2022 1:19 AM

I love shalt watah taffy!

by Anonymousreply 24May 7, 2022 1:21 AM

^shalt or shit?

by Anonymousreply 25May 7, 2022 1:22 AM

A coworker brought boxes of it from Rehoboth Beach. Not a lot of flavor, but because it was fresh, it wasn't a crown buster.

by Anonymousreply 26May 7, 2022 1:23 AM

No lying. Zeno was a family friend. He died a few years ago—he would send us candy for years from his store. The taffy was good, but the rest of the candy was amazing.

by Anonymousreply 27May 7, 2022 1:32 AM

Btw Zeno’s son is really hot and made commercials for Noom.

More sour than salty, really, like you give a fuck.

by Anonymousreply 29May 7, 2022 1:52 AM

Only if it’s pure and made the old-fashioned way by pulling.

by Anonymousreply 30May 7, 2022 1:54 AM

[quote] Did you ever go to a taffy pull party?

Is that a euphemism for an orgy with guys who can't get hard?

by Anonymousreply 31May 7, 2022 1:57 AM

I prefer soft salt water taffy to the hard taffy that French Canadians make.

by Anonymousreply 32May 7, 2022 2:28 AM

American, soft salt water taffy is wonderful. Lost a filling to a Tootsie Roll and that was the last, sticky candy I will eat. No more Bit O Honeys or Sugar Daddies/Babies. Farewell, Charms Blow Pops.

by Anonymousreply 33May 7, 2022 3:37 AM

I loved the SWT at a dive in Kenosha, WI called The Brat Stop. I'd buy a bag every time I visited.

by Anonymousreply 34May 7, 2022 3:52 AM

One summer we went to Mackinaw Island and had the best fresh taffy. On a health kick, I liked orange and lime.

by Anonymousreply 35May 7, 2022 4:24 AM

I really want to order taffy from OP’s link. But there’s so many flavors! Which ones do you guys recommend?

by Anonymousreply 36May 7, 2022 6:35 PM

All of them! They are all delicious! I just told them I wanted a five pound bag of everything. They are used to that.

by Anonymousreply 37May 7, 2022 7:04 PM

I like Shriver's Salt Water Taffy from the boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ. The business is even older than most DL bitches (1898).

by Anonymousreply 40May 7, 2022 10:42 PM

R26 … from Dolle’s? We used to get that when I was a kid and my family went to Ocean City, down the beach from Rehoboth, every summer. My mother thought it was superior to Candy Kitchen (the taffy brand most prominently sold then and now in OC). Yes, mama trained me right for a lifetime career as a prisspot.

R35, how can you have salt water taffy on the Great Lakes? Is it called fresh water taffy?

by Anonymousreply 41May 8, 2022 12:20 AM

R41 you best brush up on your saltwater taffy history!
