Anyone watching this? I was twelve years old and living in TX when it happened so it seemed almost abstract to me at the time. The documentary is pretty typical: a mix of contemporary footage and talking heads, and it spends a decent amount of time focusing on the lack of clear communication due to the confusion all around (civil sirens going off with no warning, e.g.), as well as featuring the Carter Administration’s role in assisting Governor Dick Thornburgh’s office during the crisis. Back when parties worked together.

I was 14 living about 10 miles away from TMI and my family stayed. I’m starting it today.

I was too young to see it unfold (born in 1983 here) however The China Syndrome is easily in my top 20 of favorite films. It truly invoked the fear that I missed out on. Jack Lemmon should have won an Oscar for his riveting role. Of course years later I saw the Chernobyl disaster unfold on TV.

It's no Chernobyl.

R3 I agree completely. I guess Im just making the small comparison judging by the misinformation told to the public at that time in the early stages. I also never usually post and I'm embarrassed I used 'unfold' twice so I'm "oh dear-ing' myself.
