Why? She’s not attractive. She doesn’t have talent. How is she still getting work? That lisp too.
Debbie Mazar

It's Debi.

OP = Madonna, still mad at what Debi said about her in that documentary.

She's gorgeous
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 6, 2022 1:31 PM |
Is she Jewish?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 6, 2022 1:32 PM |
I checked out her + husband's cooking videos on YouTube after someone mentioned her on the Sandra Bernhard-Madonna feud thread. Debi really hogs the camera, talks nonstop, has a grating accent and doesn't seem particularly bright. I kind of felt sorry for her chef husband, who was more of the wallflower type. But good for her for living in Tuscany and having a bella vita (or so it appears from the outside).

She’s a WOP. And she’s barely working
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 6, 2022 1:37 PM |
She’s of Lithuanian descent from Queens I think. She has aged well has two adorable girls a sexy husband who seems like he really loves her. She’s not a big star but has had a solid career. She’s a character actress sort of like a Leah Remini type sans the whole Scientology bullshit. I like her she’s real. I love her style . I loved her food show. What’s not to like ? What did she say about Madonna I’m curious? She has done way better for herself than Madonna.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | May 6, 2022 1:38 PM |
For Debi, much of the public attraction was to how her eyes appeared on film. . . she was the goto girl for that look in the 80s and 90s until she was dethroned by Fairuza Balk... another one that was limited in range save she fit within this specific niche.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 6, 2022 2:44 PM |
Debi has aged incredibly well. I can't believe Madonna hasn't managed to alienate her after all these years.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 6, 2022 2:48 PM |
She is good in The Pentaverate and totally unrecognizable in a blond wig. I had no idea, until this thread made me look up her wikipedia, that she was married to Pee-wee Hermon.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 6, 2022 2:51 PM |
There are some male equivalents too.. of people that seemingly know everybody, in the background of many celebs and before famous celebs yet people keep asking the same questions of how/why they kept getting work.
like Soleil Moon Frye... Punky Brewster, sure, there's that.. but her transition into adulthood, from acting to directing, various attempts at filmmaking, fell incredibly short. And yet like Waldo, she was everywhere...

What documentary about madonna?

She was memorable (IMO) on Goodfellas as Hill's (Liotta's) cocaine-chopping side chick holed up in an apartment all day.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 7, 2022 5:54 PM |
they made her look like loni anderson in the new mike myers netflix show (brilliant without a laugh track too) and she looks amazing. you can see all the influences of mike being a canadian boy and watching things like wkrp and mystery science theatre. fun homespun teenage boy toilet humour. we dig it.

She was fantastic as Ava Gardner in Arde Madrid.
A wonderful little series available on Mhzchoice.com

When I first saw the original brunette Barbie Doll I thought they must have fashioned it after Debi. Who knows what she's like in life, but from her cooking show she seemed nice (perhaps a little to self-involved, but that describes most celebrities). I like her friend Robert with the deadpan delivery. I would totally hang out with them.

She has the most beautiful eyes. I’ve always liked her.

Like R22 she always reminded me of the original Barbie doll. I've always enjoyed watching her.

I think she's great. What documentary and what did Debi say, R2?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 7, 2022 9:40 PM |
She was momentarily good as a severe, regional type…her small roles in Goodfellas and Jungle Fever come to mind.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 7, 2022 9:41 PM |
R27 Also great in Little Man Tate. I like when she's singing "Frère Jacques" and using whatever random syllables like her character totally would. Something like, 🎶 "Frère Jacques... frère Jacques... doo bay boo.... doo bay boo... "

She looks like a living Vargas girl.

I agree. I liked Debi. She was also one of Madonna's best backup dancers
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 15, 2022 2:17 AM |
She was also very good in "Civil Wars", which is why they brought her and that character into "L.A. Law."
Her Italian husband, Gabriele Corcos, is (or was) very hot. They've been married for 20 years.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | May 15, 2022 12:20 PM |
R31 Completely agree with you. She was always a character actress. She was the Thelma Ritter of the feral Staten Island secretary-type.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | May 15, 2022 2:29 PM |
Was Debi one of the dancers who, along with Madonna, trashed the Dance Party USA dressing room after Madonna's performance in 1982? If so, she's a jerk, too.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 15, 2022 8:50 PM |
Fairuza Balk had some sizeable roles. Debi Mazar always seemed more of a sidekick type.

R34 she was fun but as far as dancing she was more of a b girl with a memorable look; also a makeup artist.

R11 r39 Debi is good energy.
“ PLAYBOY: Does it get easier to put it all behind you over time?
REUBENS: Yeah, time heals. What finally pulled me out of my shell the first time was that I fell in love. I met a woman, an actress—Debi Mazar—at a movie screening toward the end of 1993 and was just so incredibly completely smitten that it was like, Boom, I’m back! It was so powerful; it was a gift. I would be all funky and dark, but she was able to just say a bunch of stuff to me, like “Come on! Up, up, up, up!” Also, my assistant had a baby, which made it hard to feel shitty with this little cute child running around all the time. That helped a lot. But somebody made an accusation against me that was unfathomable. What happened was beyond belief, particularly if you’re me and you love kids and that’s what you do [entertain kids] and you have devoted your entire focus on them. As I said, you go into shock. The second time I already knew that whatever the truth, whether justice prevails or not, this is your future. This is it. Still, yes, time is what has allowed me to come back. If I’m lucky enough to actually make the comeback that now looks possible, people will look back and dissect it all and ask, “How the fuck did he ever come back from there?”
by Anonymous | reply 44 | May 16, 2022 11:55 AM |
I liked this, from same interview:
PLAYBOY: So how did you disappear? It was as if you vanished completely.
REUBENS: I didn’t know what to do. Then I remembered Doris Duke always had security around, so I called her.
PLAYBOY: Doris Duke—as in, one of the richest women in the world—was a friend of yours?
REUBENS: Yes. Doris Duke didn’t have a lot of people in her life. A couple of years earlier I’d gone to Oahu to write Pee-wee’s Playhouse Goes Hawaiian, which never got made, and her neighbor Jim Nabors—you know, Gomer Pyle—took me to her house for lunch. As a child she’d been told, “Trust nobody. Everyone has an agenda.” But she couldn’t miss that I didn’t have an agenda—I just think I was fun for her—and she was always so nice to me. For no reason. So I called her and said, “I’m in trouble.” She said to come to her house in New Jersey. I said, “Wait, wait, wait. Let me tell you. I’m not just in trouble—I’m in trouble!” She was famously guarded about her privacy. I didn’t know if people were following me. I didn’t want to throw that onto her, but she said to come. On the Monday after my arrest on Friday, I woke up at Doris Duke’s 2,700-acre estate in Somerville, New Jersey. It was designed by the firm of Frederick Law Olmsted—he also created Central Park. It looked like Central Park except bigger, with deer all over the place. They put me in the cottage Imelda Marcos had just vacated, and the staff did what they would do for any guest—they left the daily newspapers outside my bedroom that morning. I opened the door and saw my mug shot on the covers of the New York Post, the Daily News and The New York Times. I went from feeling safe to Gaaaaah!
That night I turned on the TV and saw people I mistakenly and naively thought were my friends making jokes about me. That was really painful. I knew Arsenio Hall, and his guests were Patti LaBelle and Luther Vandross, who were also my friends. I was just sitting there going, Oh, they’re making jokes about me. I turned the channel to Jay Leno, who was also saying some snarky things. I get that it’s their job, but I had already said the allegations weren’t true and felt I deserved the benefit of the doubt from them. Make a joke about me but also just say, “By the way, he’s been a friend of our show for many years.” I was shocked people would kick me when I was down.
