MSNBC - Part 37

Time for a new thread, people. discussing things MSNBC, and adjacent.

by Anonymousreply 343February 19, 2023 11:06 AM

I'm intrigued my Nicolle's necklace. Is there a term for the shape of those medallions?

She routinely wore the single turquoise one. I'm assuming it was a gift. Now it's the multiple white ones.

If she comes with a green one, I'm thinking she might be confused with a weed dispensary rep.

by Anonymousreply 1May 5, 2022 10:11 PM

I want to see Ari’s scantily clad lithe Mediterranean body. I would savagely tear his clothes off like a shrieking Beatles fan if I had seen him broadcasting on the national mall the last couple of days, which would be embarrassing as I am a 57 year old 🐻.

by Anonymousreply 2May 5, 2022 10:36 PM

Ari is hot.

by Anonymousreply 3May 5, 2022 11:11 PM

[quote] Ari’s scantily clad lithe Mediterranean body

He's from the Pacific Northwest.

Saw him outside once without his suit jacket, not exactly lithe, but certainly doable. Forearms hairier than you might expect.

by Anonymousreply 4May 5, 2022 11:43 PM

Leigh Ann Caldwell's hair always bothers me.

by Anonymousreply 5May 6, 2022 12:35 AM

R5 I was convinced it was a wig for awhile, then she started growing out her roots.

She struck me as a passable but not great reporter. Thing is her MSNBC colleagues all just seem to really love her. Maybe she's fun off-air.

by Anonymousreply 6May 6, 2022 7:12 AM

Leigh Ann Caldwell doesn't work for NBC/MSNBC any longer she is now with WaPo.

Last night I counted at least 56 "like"s and 45 "right?"s on Chris Hayes show. He should get electroshock every time he does it.

"All, Like, In, With, Like, Chris Hayes, Right?"

by Anonymousreply 8May 6, 2022 1:39 PM

Chris Jansing is a very well-preserved 65 year old!

by Anonymousreply 9May 6, 2022 5:13 PM

Is Chuck Todd losing his 1:00 slot because he’s taking over for Rachel Maddow?

by Anonymousreply 10May 6, 2022 5:14 PM

R10 God forbid. Her production team still runs the show, including the Prime nights, hopefully they'd refuse to work for Todd,

by Anonymousreply 11May 7, 2022 2:21 AM

Maybe Chuck Todd will take his talents to Fox News & succeed Chris Wallace.

by Anonymousreply 12May 7, 2022 3:11 AM

They are keeping Todd on, at least for now, at the flagship MTP program. His daily shift to streaming isn't even a move to the premium service. You would think he could take a really big hint.

I missed the Correspondents Dinner, apparently Trevor Noah made a crack about Todd's inability to ask follow-up questions. And got booed.

by Anonymousreply 13May 7, 2022 8:19 AM

I've never watch the Katie Phang show on MSNBC before until this morning, she had The Lincoln Project's Rick Wilson as a guest in a talk show type set with a couch and a chair which Katie sat in, where she described herself as a former registered Republican.

by Anonymousreply 14May 7, 2022 12:32 PM

Chris Hayes is going to need to bump up a suit size. He is getting big and muscular from his work out routine.

by Anonymousreply 15May 7, 2022 12:41 PM

Symone premiere!

love her

by Anonymousreply 16May 7, 2022 8:04 PM

Jill Biden seems like such a nice and approachable first lady

by Anonymousreply 17May 7, 2022 8:09 PM

Sending him to streaming for the week is the road to banishment.

I confess to not tuning in for all of the Tu-F episodes of MSNBC Prime. Did Velshi host all 4 nights?

He's a fine reporter and anchor. I just don't enjoy watching him. I've tried. Do they intend to rotate hosts?

by Anonymousreply 20May 9, 2022 2:54 AM

Chris Hayes has covid (he announced it on Twitter).

by Anonymousreply 21May 9, 2022 2:59 AM

Ari is sexier in real life. He put his hands on my shoulders for a pic. Swoon!

by Anonymousreply 22May 9, 2022 3:20 AM

Why was Nicolle Wallace spending so much time today on getting to 50 Senate votes to codify abortion rights?! She knows that 60 votes would be needed.

by Anonymousreply 23May 9, 2022 11:19 PM

and we're not sure what Manchin will do. It's doubtful he'd break filibuster for abortion

by Anonymousreply 24May 10, 2022 1:10 AM

Rachel is so glossy this evening. I guess Monday's are now a special occasion, and all that implies.

by Anonymousreply 25May 10, 2022 6:46 AM

lmao the fact that MSNBC had Rachel ask her viewers to make sure to record MSNBC Prime because the name in the tv guide has officially changed is hilarious. No one's watching when she's not there I guess

by Anonymousreply 26May 10, 2022 7:44 AM

[quote] and we're not sure what Manchin will do. It's doubtful he'd break filibuster for abortion

No need to doubt. Not only is he pro-filibuster, but Manchin, like Bob Casey, is "pro-life."

by Anonymousreply 27May 10, 2022 7:46 AM

At the correspondents dinner Trevor Noah remarked what a privilege it was being in the same room with the most powerful man in the country... Joe Manchin. Biden genuinely seemed to think it was funny.

by Anonymousreply 28May 10, 2022 8:28 AM

If Chuck Todd is chuck roasted, is Rachel going to host Meet The Press? Ultimate prestige if she gets it. Of course, she'll have to let other people talk...

by Anonymousreply 29May 10, 2022 10:13 AM

Where’s John Heilemann?

by Anonymousreply 30May 10, 2022 10:21 AM

I'm supposed to organize my life around the days Rachel happens to choose to come into work?

Fuck her.

by Anonymousreply 31May 10, 2022 12:21 PM

Fire her is more like it.

by Anonymousreply 32May 10, 2022 1:08 PM

by Anonymousreply 35May 10, 2022 4:20 PM

Hi Nicolle ^^^^

by Anonymousreply 36May 10, 2022 4:46 PM

R36

Dude looks like a BEAST in the bedroom.

Would definitely love a night with Daddy Warbucks John Heilemann.

by Anonymousreply 37May 10, 2022 4:51 PM

R36

Nicolle Wallace Schmidt & John Heilemann are always announcing how they are best friends on podcasts. That’s cute when you are 5, but they are 50.

Something always seems a little TOO CLOSE about their friendship…

by Anonymousreply 38May 10, 2022 5:42 PM

^Wasn’t Nicolle a key source for Game Change (about the ‘08 presidential campaign)?

by Anonymousreply 39May 10, 2022 5:45 PM

Mark Esper is on Nicolle's show, he is 58 years old and doesn't have a gray hair on his head.

by Anonymousreply 40May 10, 2022 8:20 PM

[quote] Daddy John Heilemann is fucking HOT!

Please go back to Part 36. and wank off there.

by Anonymousreply 41May 10, 2022 8:42 PM

R40 He strikes me as something of a dummy. Who behaved himself into a position of power.

by Anonymousreply 42May 10, 2022 8:49 PM

R41

Shut the FUCK up.

This is MSNBC thread and John Heilemann is an analyst!

Go wank off with the Chris Haynes lovers, you pussy.

by Anonymousreply 43May 10, 2022 9:16 PM

R43 Oh baby. You're in trouble.

by Anonymousreply 44May 10, 2022 10:00 PM

by Anonymousreply 45May 10, 2022 10:12 PM

[quote] Symone premiere! -- love her

Well Symone's mother heard from

The ex-Biden administration official who was most recently a top spokesperson for Vice President Kamala Harris tanked in her debut this past weekend on MSNBC, according to newly released Nielsen ratings.

Sanders drew just 361,000 total viewers for her 4 p.m. show, titled “Symone,” on Saturday. She also managed to attract just 29,000 viewers in the advertiser-coveted 25-54 demographic.

The program’s viewership fell well short of Fox News Channel’s “Fox News Live,” which drew 842,000 total viewers, including 163,000 in the 25-54 demographic.

by Anonymousreply 46May 11, 2022 12:53 AM

Symone is a Bernie bro. Glad to see her fail big time.

by Anonymousreply 47May 11, 2022 5:32 AM

Ayman is too radical. I understand now why he was banished to Peacock & Weekends where many people don’t watch tv. He needs to be careful with his Social Media posts. Walking a slippery slope.

by Anonymousreply 49May 11, 2022 2:25 PM

[quote] Ayman is too radical.

He did quite a bit of editorializing while filling in for Chris tonight. It sounded like a personal peeve with Israeli policies and practices. Something you might expect from a guest, rather than a guest host.

Even Mehdi Hasan seems to know better the line he needs to hew to.

by Anonymousreply 50May 12, 2022 9:52 AM

John Heilemann was asking about the Plan B Pill today on Morning Joe. Swear that dude is probably cheating on his old hag wife with a younger lady.

Through pics on instagram, something don’t look right about that 15 yr marriage…

by Anonymousreply 51May 12, 2022 1:51 PM

Joe Scarborough Rips Senate Democrats, Accuses Them of ‘𝑽𝒊𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒆 𝑺𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈’ With Symbolic Abortion Rights Vote

“The story of the democratic congress, thus far, is wildly overshooting the mark,” Scarborough noted. “And getting nothing from it.”

Mika Brzezinski quickly chimed in to correctly note, “well, they want to know where people stand.”

“You know, the time for virtue-signaling is over,” Scarborough added. “They don’t have many legislative days left.”

The Morning Joe host proceeded to hammer Democratic Congressional leadership for ostensibly letting perfect be the enemy of the good and as a result, consistently coming out on the losing end, if even just on symbolic votes.

In other words, the time for symbolism has long passed for Schumer says Scarborough, as well as a number of Democratic voters frustrated with him and his fellow Democratic leaders in Congress.

by Anonymousreply 52May 12, 2022 5:57 PM

Oh look Mr. & Mrs. Nicolle Wallace are on a panel together.

by Anonymousreply 53May 12, 2022 8:33 PM

r52, Joe needs to see what Zero Sum Democrats look like.

by Anonymousreply 54May 12, 2022 9:14 PM

R52 The Democrats need 60 votes in the Senate to codify Roe or any aspect of Roe, they don't have it and will never get it in this congress. They need 50 Democratic votes to change the rules to kill the filibuster so that they wouldn't need 60 votes, they don't have 50 votes because both Manchin and Sinema have said they won't vote to kill the filibuster for any reason. Joe Scarborough knows this, you should also know this, Joe is bloviating for ratings, what are you doing?

Symbolic votes on this matter is all the Democrats have, if you don't like it then help elect more Democrats not spreading division.

EK: Esteemed justices, let me be clear, I released The Alito Manifesto masquerading as a court opinion. This documentation of the politicization and enshrinement of radical Christianity had to be exposed for the horrific document it is. Seeing as how this body is only subject to removal by Congressional impeachment and conviction, I beg the crypto fascist majority of this court to kindly go fuck themselves.

by Anonymousreply 58May 13, 2022 11:47 AM

Interesting how the click-bait contributors—Annie Karni, Ashley Parker, Philip Rucker, Eli Stokals, etc. are barely seen on the shows anymore. They were addicted to Trump.

Did MSNBC just phase them out?

by Anonymousreply 59May 13, 2022 9:41 PM

Ashley Parker was on The 11th Hour last night, Stephanie congratulated her on winning her second Pulitzer.

by Anonymousreply 60May 13, 2022 10:37 PM

R60

Stephanie Rhule & Andrea are the only ones who has them on now once in awhile. They used to be on all the time, now barely a mention.

by Anonymousreply 61May 13, 2022 11:06 PM

Philip Rucker never has bylines in the Post anymore either, so presumably he's working on another book or something.

by Anonymousreply 62May 13, 2022 11:12 PM

R62 His colleague and writing partner Carol Leonnig is on Deadline Whitehouse pretty routinely. I love Annie, I wish they'd get her back into rotation. Eli reporting from his bedroom as well.

by Anonymousreply 63May 14, 2022 5:49 AM

Jen Psaki bids farewell. It seems a couple weeks ago she started wearing these bushy eyelashes, not a particularly good look for her, imho. Is this in preparation for the glamorous position at MSNBC?

I like her replacement Jean-Pierre, but I wonder if she will be able to handle the Fox trolls as adeptly.

by Anonymousreply 64May 14, 2022 8:12 AM

I seriously doubt the new lady can bullshit for the admiinstration as well as Psaki

by Anonymousreply 95May 19, 2022 2:53 PM

Pete did good honest work. It's amazing he lasted this long at NBC

by Anonymousreply 96May 19, 2022 2:55 PM

Fox News swept the advertiser-coveted 25-54 age demographic yet again on Monday, with the network’s lowest-rated show still topping the highest-rated program on CNN or MSNBC.

Fox’s America Reports at 2 p.m. and Your World With Neil Cavuto at 4 p.m. were the lowest-rated shows on the network in the demo, bringing in 191,000 viewers.

However, CNN’s highest-rated program in the demo, Anderson Cooper 360 at 8 p.m., only brought in 163,000 viewers. Meanwhile, MSNBC’s top-rated program in the demo was The Rachel Maddow Show, which brought in 160,000 viewers at 9 p.m.

R129 No, all the election outcome reporting seemed to be pre-empted. Continuing through today.

But replace by some really fine Morgan Chesky in-person reporting.

by Anonymousreply 131May 26, 2022 4:55 AM

Morgan as a native Texan made a special effort to pronounce the names of all the tragically young victims' names correctly. I'm sure it was appreciated. Working on a story of this nature must take an emotional toll.

Plus, he's just luscious.

I checked my TV listings, it says that the Rachel Maddow show will be on Monday. So is Rachel actually going to work Memorial Day. I figured she chose to have her only show on Mondays since so many holidays are on Monday. Maybe it will be one of her prerecorded shows.

Across day time, Fox News tripled CNN and doubled MSNBC in terms of total viewers. During prime time, Fox News also tripled CNN and almost doubled MSNBC in total viewers.

The Five was the highest rated show in cable news with 3.137 million total viewers, while Tucker Carlson landed in number one in the demo with 470,000 viewers.

Kudos to Yasmin Vossoughian, Morgan Chesty and Tom Winter for their solid coverage of the slaughter in Texas. They took a hard news sensibility to the small town of Uvalde, but related to the townspeople and their disaster with unmistakably genuine concern. Unpretentious, just the right tone of professionalism and unabashed empathy.

Breaking News

Morgan Chesky was reporting from Texas with only the top button on his shirt open, I sure hope someone didn't complain. The next button was straining under the pressure from Morgan's pecs.

by Anonymousreply 159June 1, 2022 1:06 PM

I suspect that because of the subject matter, Chesky wanted to exhibit a certain amount of decorum by covering up more.

Perhaps when he's covering the next issue - say, a hurricane sweeping through Florida - he'll be more unbuttoned and those chest hairs will re-emerge and breathe the way nature intended them to.

May Ratings: Fox News Beats CNN & MSNBC Combined For 10th Straight Month, MSNBC Sees Demo Crash

Fox News dominated CNN and MSNBC in the month of May, beating their combined viewers in both the key 25-54 age demographic and in terms of total viewers –for the 10th straight month.

MSNBC came in second place among the three networks in terms of total viewers, while CNN landed in second in the demo.

MSNBC has seen its demo viewership drop sharply in recent weeks and ended May with its lowest day time demo average since November 1999 and its lowest prime time average since May 2004.

R164 As America sinks into the quagmire.

by Anonymousreply 165June 2, 2022 7:20 AM

R164 just loves to post the Fox ratings on the MSNBC thread, probably because if she started a Fox News, and I use that term news loosely, thread it would die a quick death here and get FF'd to hell. However if you combine the CNN and MSNBC numbers historically they aren't that far behind Fox.

Fact is that Fox had 2.27 million viewers in a nation of 332 million people, by comparison 60 minutes had 7 million viewers, Every one of the network News cast on ABC, NBC, and ABC all get higher viewership that Fox News on cable. Hardly anyone watches any of the cable news programs in comparison with network TV.

If you take out the really old people and only look at the 25-54 age demographic Fox only got 229,000 viewers. Which means 2 million of their 2.27 million viewers are over 54.

So R164, it totally amuses me that you think you are posting anything of importance there. It does give me a chuckle.

[quote] I'm old enough to remember when MSNBC actually covered the news instead of panelist after panelist bloviating about anything and everything.

by Anonymousreply 187June 4, 2022 10:06 PM

R186 I had similar feelings, but they cover Trump-ism, because it never went away. It got worse. And is in really serious danger or returning - in the flesh. It's not something rational people can comfortably ignore. I'm grateful MSNBC covers it relentlessly.

Lately there seems to be an ever increasing percentage of MSNBC ad time being given to promoting programming from other NBCU networks - Bravo, E, CNBC, Peacock.

There's still plenty of pharma ads, but I'm wondering if the other traditional advertisers are cutting back. Ratings, content, economic woes, combination of all three?

by Anonymousreply 234June 7, 2022 7:58 AM

That Mile Taylor is a former Trump BS artist. Why does Nicolle keep booking him for her show?

by Anonymousreply 235June 7, 2022 9:17 AM

Nicolle as a reformed republican herself has a soft spot for others of her kind -Tim Miller, Matthew Dowd, Michael Steele, all frequent guests. Besides Taylor was Anonymous, and started exposing Trump on his shit while still working in government - essentially a spy for the resistance. He's got valuable insight.

by Anonymousreply 236June 7, 2022 9:45 AM

I read an article today that said MSNBC's ratings are down to its 2004-2005 numbers. That was before Olbermann started to take off, and MSNBC was rudderless. They're going to have to make some major changes.

by Anonymousreply 237June 7, 2022 9:40 PM

2004 and 2005 is when Chris Matthews was the major face of the network. Wowzers! They really are in trouble.

by Anonymousreply 238June 7, 2022 9:45 PM

^^^Not surprising. That's what happen when you lose Rachel (mostly) and Brian Williams, who were the two pillars of primetime, in such a short time. Giving Morning Joe another hour and making Joy the new "star" of primetime will only get you so far.

by Anonymousreply 239June 7, 2022 9:53 PM

Every recent move MSNBC has made has been a downgrade. Going from Chris Matthews to Joy Reid was a downgrade. Going from Brian Williams to Stephanie Ruhle was a downgrade. Going from Kasie Hunt on Sunday evenings to Alicia Menendez was a downgrade. And whoever ends up replacing Rachel will be another downgrade.

by Anonymousreply 240June 7, 2022 10:35 PM

Who thought that promoting Stephanie Ruhle was a good idea? That voice! Eeeeeeeek!

by Anonymousreply 241June 7, 2022 10:40 PM

So true, R241; Ruhle's is not a voice (or face) for pre-bedtime.

I did like her tagline, though: "I'll see you at the end of tomorrow."

by Anonymousreply 242June 7, 2022 10:44 PM

In my opinion, MSNBC needs to get back to covering the news. Right now, it's just nothing but the same pundits regurgitating the same bs. "Let's bring Jake Sherman into the conversation"... "Joining us now is Ashley Parker". Enough already!

by Anonymousreply 243June 7, 2022 10:47 PM

I'm still here, bitches.

by Anonymousreply 244June 7, 2022 10:50 PM

R243 Ashley Parker and Jake Sherman are reporters, not pundits. Giving analysis is also part of their job as journalists. Who is it you want to see?

by Anonymousreply 245June 7, 2022 10:54 PM

r245. No. Reporters are people who report from the field (Morgan Chesky, Gadi Schwartz) or have a beat (Pete Williams at the Supreme Court). Jake Sherman and Ashley Parker are technically reporters, but with other news organizations. They are on MSNBC to analyze and punditize.

by Anonymousreply 246June 7, 2022 10:58 PM

I'd like to see a newscast appear again on MSNBC primetime. Move Shep Smith's CNBC newscast into Joy's slot.

by Anonymousreply 247June 7, 2022 11:02 PM

I could see Shepard Smith as a potential host for the 11th Hour too.

by Anonymousreply 248June 7, 2022 11:08 PM

"The 11th Hour" should have gone to Chris Jansing. Do the right thing, MSNBC, and move her from 1pm to Rachel's 9pm timeslot; she's earned it.

by Anonymousreply 249June 7, 2022 11:18 PM

r249 That's an interesting idea. I love Chris Jansing. She's a good no-nonsense journalist who's been at MSNBC forever.

by Anonymousreply 250June 7, 2022 11:20 PM

However, I suspect the late shift might not appeal to her.

by Anonymousreply 251June 7, 2022 11:21 PM

R246 So you just want to see them doing a live shot outside the Whitehouse, or Supreme Court. That's ridiculous. Ashely Parker, Carol Leonnig, Phil Rucker, Michael Schmidt are all reporters. Sorry they don't satisfy your Chesky thirst.

by Anonymousreply 252June 7, 2022 11:22 PM

r252 I wouldn't kick Chesky out of my bed, but Gadi Schwartz is my pick.

by Anonymousreply 253June 7, 2022 11:24 PM

r252 to the topic at hand. I need to clarify my remarks. Yes, Ashely Parker, Carol Leonnig, Phil Rucker, and Michael Schmidt are reporters. I just meant that when they appear on MSNBC, they would be considered analysts and I would imagine, be paid as such.

by Anonymousreply 254June 7, 2022 11:28 PM

[quote] Ashely Parker, Carol Leonnig, Phil Rucker, Michael Schmidt are all reporters.

But they're Washington Post or New York Times reporters, not MSNBC reporters. MSNBC barely does any reporting at all. MSNBC's idea of "breaking news" is having Nicolle or Rachel read verbatim from a story on the website of the Washington Post or the New York Times (or sometimes Politico), then interview with the reporter who wrote the story. It's all commentators interviewing reporters (instead of reporters interviewing sources).

by Anonymousreply 255June 7, 2022 11:31 PM

Yes R255. You explained that so much more succinctly than I did. I want news, dammit! News!

Shut your pie hole, R259. David Bloom and Tim Russert all but died on the job, and Andrea Mitchell seems committed to stay until she decides otherwise..

Chris Jansing could well outlive all of us; longevity is guaranteed to no one.

by Anonymousreply 264June 8, 2022 12:37 AM

R261 I'm sorry but Jen Psaki does not have the energy to carry her own show. MSNBC is not in need of yet another bland, liberal commentator.

by Anonymousreply 265June 8, 2022 12:40 AM

One of the major concerns is a viewership that increasingly cannot tell the difference between news and opinion. Fox News viewers are victim to this. But increasingly so, are MSNBC viewers.

by Anonymousreply 266June 8, 2022 12:43 AM

[quote] WHET Luke Russert?

He and Robbie Mook are making babies.

by Anonymousreply 267June 8, 2022 12:47 AM

[quote] the difference between news and opinion

On Fox the danger is more the difference between news and deliberately false information.

And it's rampant.

by Anonymousreply 268June 8, 2022 7:27 AM

It costs money to fund a news station that goes beyond sending people to a locale so they can stick mics in peoples' faces. Punditry is cheap and they are clearly given a string of topics and talking points for each day.

Rachel is sucking up an obscene amount of resources and I am over her. Also, I always thought her books and podcasts were boring and only had an audience because she hawked them on air to a legion of fans. Without wall to wall promotion, her extended history lessons are going to fall on their ass.

.

by Anonymousreply 269June 8, 2022 8:02 AM

Chris Hayes brings, like, a lot to the table, right? He talks very fast, right, and, like, at the top of his, like, vocal register, right?

by Anonymousreply 270June 8, 2022 12:58 PM

Is Miles Taylor gay?

FYI-that dude is still a republican no matter how many times he goes on Nicolle’s show.

by Anonymousreply 271June 8, 2022 4:20 PM

[quote] Chris Hayes brings, like, a lot to the table, right? He talks very fast, right, and, like, at the top of his, like, vocal register, right?

And ... he ... joins ... us ... now.

by Anonymousreply 272June 8, 2022 7:03 PM

Another thought... Neither Chris Hayes nor Lawrence O'Donnell have ever had very much success ratings-wise on their own. Lawrence benefited from the Rachel lead-in, and Chris' show has always been a weak link. Don't even get me started on Joy. It may be time to rethink the entire primetime lineup.

by Anonymousreply 273June 8, 2022 7:17 PM

Here's my fantasy MSNBC primetime lineup: All times Eastern.

7pm: The News with Shepard Smith. (Just take his current CNBC newscast and make it flashier). 8pm: Garrett Haake's Washington (kind of like Kasie in DC, only nightly) 9pm: The Wrap with Gadi Schwartz (a look at the day's top stories. Similar to the Countdown format, but less bombastic) 10pm: The Big Board with Steve Kornacki 11pm: The 11th Hour with Shepard Smith

by Anonymousreply 274June 8, 2022 7:29 PM

What's with all the trolls here lately?

by Anonymousreply 275June 8, 2022 7:29 PM

R275 Nobody's trolling that I can tell.

by Anonymousreply 276June 8, 2022 7:36 PM

R268 I don't care if Fox News is worse. Cable news has capitalized on people unable to differentiate between news and opinion.

by Anonymousreply 277June 8, 2022 7:44 PM

Nicolle had her husband on her show today with no disclosure she married him!

by Anonymousreply 278June 8, 2022 9:39 PM

David Hogg looked hot as hell on Deadline:Whitehouse.

by Anonymousreply 279June 8, 2022 10:55 PM

Chris Hayes show is a two hour show tonight with guest MO "takin' down names and kickin' ass" Brooks. Chris asked Mo, why are you on my show, I doubt we have many conservative voters watching.

by Anonymousreply 280June 9, 2022 1:50 AM

R274: Arguably, prime time begins at 8:00 pm; only in Joy Ann Reid's overheated wig stand is a broadcast start time of 7 o'clock considered anything other than fringe time.

She should rethink referring to others' musings as "the great lie."

by Anonymousreply 281June 9, 2022 2:54 AM

R289, It is so funny to listen to a Trumpublican avoid talking about his body armor while running his Trumpublican talking points after being repudiated by Trump himself.

by Anonymousreply 282June 9, 2022 3:24 AM

R282 His attempt to explain the most inflammatory lines in his 01/06 speech were so tortured. His demeanor on the show seems much more rational if you ignore all the bullshit he was spewing.

The MSNBC lineup just feels stale anymore.

Is MSNBC stale? Let's bring Jake Sherman into the conversation for his thoughts.

by Anonymousreply 287June 9, 2022 11:18 AM

Katty Kay, help us out. MSNBC stale?

by Anonymousreply 288June 9, 2022 12:16 PM

I like Rachel but don't really feel the one-show-a-week thing really works. If she's supposed to be the "face" of the network, then they should've told her either you keep doing five shows a week like everybody else or we'll give your slot to someone else. The 9:00 hour is prime real estate and to waste it by having her there one lousy night of the week, then turn it over to a parade of (with all due respect) far less exciting names under the banner "MSNBC Prime" is just ludicrous in my opinion and I wouldn't have let her get away with it.

by Anonymousreply 289June 9, 2022 12:45 PM

Yes. R289 And they should not let Rachel continue to anchor special event coverage with that inane Joy Reid.

by Anonymousreply 290June 9, 2022 12:48 PM

I originally thought when they announced the Rachel once-a-week thing, that she would do a documentary or a magazine-type show once a week, maybe on Sunday nights. I never thought it was just going to be a regular old show on Monday nights.

by Anonymousreply 291June 9, 2022 12:53 PM

Tell Chris Hayes to wear tighter shirts and suits to show off his massive muscles. That will bring in the viewers to his show.

by Anonymousreply 292June 9, 2022 1:36 PM

Chris has a perfectly nice average toned dad bod. His suits are already quite snug. His IG provides a good resource for assessing his actual physique.

Still I get it, fantasizing can be fun.

by Anonymousreply 293June 9, 2022 2:35 PM

[quote]The MSNBC lineup just feels stale anymore.

Maybe Nicolle could try to giggle more to keep things lively?

by Anonymousreply 294June 9, 2022 2:45 PM

[quote] MSNBC lineup just feels stale anymore.

This is new syntax to me. Otherelse?

by Anonymousreply 295June 9, 2022 3:01 PM

I’d rather see them interviewing journalists than politicians. Most politicians just use an interview to say whatever they want—often party talking points. BORING. There are a few exceptions who actually respond to the questions asked.

by Anonymousreply 296June 9, 2022 3:03 PM

MSNBC always does better in opposition to the President.

by Anonymousreply 297June 9, 2022 3:03 PM

Chris Hayes has the smartest show.

by Anonymousreply 298June 9, 2022 3:07 PM

Before COVID, Chris was having a studio audience mini-town hall. It was brilliant. He needs to revisit the occasional format.

by Anonymousreply 299June 9, 2022 5:44 PM

I agree. He seemed to do well in that format, R299.

by Anonymousreply 300June 9, 2022 6:03 PM

Does anyone watch Mrs. Greenspan's Breathless Noontime Lunch Hour?

by Anonymousreply 301June 9, 2022 6:59 PM

My problem is not that the hosts talk with reporters from other news organizations. But it's the same fucking people all the time, providing no new insights and just spouting the same talking points

by Anonymousreply 302June 9, 2022 7:05 PM

[quote]Before COVID, Chris was having a studio audience mini-town hall. It was brilliant. He needs to revisit the occasional format.

Oh god, that was the worst fucking thing ever. Chris Hayes shouting at a live audience instead of just yelling at you through your TV. I hope that never comes back.

by Anonymousreply 303June 9, 2022 7:21 PM

Their problem is there’s a huge issue (the attempted coup) and what’s being done is being done secretly and slowly. They don’t want to divert attention from the story, but there isn’t much to say. Yet.

by Anonymousreply 304June 9, 2022 7:33 PM

Just think: on the verge of co-hosting MSNBC's live coverage of the historic January 6 Hearings, Joy Ann Reid stands in her closet trying to decide which gaudy ensemble will be most appropriate to wear.

"Wig, don't fail me now!"

by Anonymousreply 305June 9, 2022 7:52 PM

Dang, is Jamie Raskin EXTREMELY short, or is Garrett Haake EXTREMELY tall? That interview was disconcerting.

by Anonymousreply 306June 9, 2022 8:24 PM

Haake is pretty tall

by Anonymousreply 307June 9, 2022 9:58 PM

I’m afraid the hearing will be BORING

by Anonymousreply 308June 9, 2022 10:00 PM

Rachel is back in 30 Rock for the Jan 6 hearings.

by Anonymousreply 309June 9, 2022 11:09 PM

Joy is wearing her special wig tonight.

by Anonymousreply 310June 9, 2022 11:09 PM

Joy’s wig is boring. I was hoping she’d recycle this look:

John Heilemann looked HOT on Nicolle’s show today.

by Anonymousreply 316June 10, 2022 2:40 AM

This contributor Helene Cooper can’t talk on TV.

People need to be vetted for TV, not every reporter can be a thrown on national television.

by Anonymousreply 317June 10, 2022 10:58 AM

R317: Helene Cooper is a longtime fixture on news programs who, until recently, has been missing from the circuit. Perhaps her absence was due to illness which might explain her reduced confidence on-screen.

by Anonymousreply 318June 10, 2022 11:49 PM

R318

oh that’s cute but why can’t helene speak ?

by Anonymousreply 319June 11, 2022 1:07 AM

Haven't been watching a lot of MSNBC recently so I'm wondering if lovely Mara Gay ever fully recovered from Covid and returned to appearing on the network.

by Anonymousreply 326June 14, 2022 12:07 AM

I like Joy's cut but not crazy about the blonde. Rachel's hair looks like it's loaded with product.

by Anonymousreply 327June 14, 2022 12:28 AM

What wig will Joy Reid be wearing?

How much gel/product will Rachel have in her hair?

What name will Chris Hayes call Trump this time?

Find out these and other question on Wednesday 8pm to 10pm on MSNBC

Live from New York, it's Rachel Maddow.

by Anonymousreply 333June 15, 2022 1:04 AM

Rachel is brilliant. Tonight's theme, reporters are missing the point: the hearings ARE the referrals for prosecution.

Brilliant!

by Anonymousreply 334June 15, 2022 1:34 AM

Looking forward to Rachel TONIGHT!

by Anonymousreply 335June 15, 2022 10:58 AM

by Anonymousreply 336June 16, 2022 1:03 AM
