Not that the original was some masterpiece, but the remake was just awful.

This was as bad as the Head of the Class reboot they tried to do (and also flopped and was canceled).
Leave the 80’s/90’s in the past where it belongs.

The only reason I used to watch when I was a kid:

Yeah, Mark-Paul was the only reason I watched the original show; didn't care much for Mario back then. Now I've flipped and only think Mario is hot.

r3 It took itself too seriously. . . while also trying too hard for gags.
As with others, just the problems of fan service... they cater to showing the best possible fantasy outcomes for it's originating characters but without growth or conflcit. Of course, some reboots go too much in the other direction and the characters are only said characters in name . . . and we never truly get the backstory for why.
They would have done better with Saved By The Bell by ditching the original premise and the intended audience as they did as the show progressed and instead bringing as many of the originating characters to a new setting, even a more fantastical one... like getting trapped in a post-apocalyptic zombie hell during a reunion event with their families (or personal assistants) in tow. . . which would allow for backstories and character regression, while spoofing more dramatic series and therefore able to maintain some of the comedy or spirit of the originating show, mostly by focusing on its remaining cast members having a central role and expanding the universe more gradually.
r4 Degrassi did well enough for a couple seasons of its return.

R5/R6 I was 9-13 when the show originally aired and MPG was my everything in middle school. I wanted to meet him so badly! Luckily,, they had a ton of merchandise to satisfy me.

The first season of the reboot was entertaining enough for nostalgia purposes but there was no need for a season 2. I also didn’t like that the rich mean bitchy trans cheerleader spent the whole show bullying others (slapping the Latina girl! Putting down the femme theatre kid, making fun of everyone, name dropping & throwing their privilege in everyone’s face) and purposely breaking up her hot dumb jock next door neighbor and the new black girl at school. The trans character has no redeeming characters- worse than heather chandler or Regina george. Also are we to believe that the hot jock who was childhood friends with his male presenting next door neighbor his whole life would all of a sudden fall in love with the newly transitioned female presenting Lexi? Especially when Lexi character is a detestable Asshole? Don’t label me transphobic either. The character was an asshole and the storyline was beyond unbelievable. But Josie Totah was a producer so this is the result.

Let's face it, the only reason this shit got a 2nd season was because they didn't want to listen to the woke twitter mob complain that Peacock was transphobic. No one watched it from the beginning.

[r1] blocked!

Tried too hard to have all boxes checked to appeal to e Uber woke mob. I fast forwarded through the stupid self righteous Daisy and the other kids , I only watched for Slater, Jessie, Zach and Kelly. Loved when the principal was on because he added the goofy humor the show lacked.
