Just watched Travels With My Aunt last night and it seemed rather DL-y to me. Fabulous costumes, sets, and locales, George Cukor directing, gay leading man, and of course, Dame Maggie.
Is this a lost DL classic? What do we think?

Graham Greene's book was excellent, memorable. Never saw the film.

And speaking of the book, surprised it hasn't been on someone's "ban/cancel" list. In the book, the protagonist Henry Pulling aged 60+, is betrothed to a 16 year old Paraguyan girl.

Seeing the movie made me want to read the book.

Katharine Hepburn had originally been cast in the lead role by her old friend director George Cukor. But after some camera tests they realized there would be no way to make Kate appear like the teenager the character is in some of the flashbacks. So Dame Maggie was recruited and while she was never quite believable as a teen, she was in that middle age range that could be somewhat made up to look both younger and older than she actually was.
