I still remember doing a double take and WTF’ing out loud when the alert popped up on my screen. I’m curious to know the number of people who had to have dropped the ball before that email went live.

They did it on purpose, c'mon. No way was this an accident. Got themselves trending on Twitter and that's all that matters these days.

I received this apology email and had zero clue what it was about. I had to google it and could not stop laughing when I read the original ‘Hang with Kate’ email. Somebody had to have done this on purpose. Haha

There's no way that was an accident.

The death was mistaken or the email? Is this opening up a murder investigation?

There must be a DL'er working in the Ulta marketing department!

And the email was sent on the first day of Mental Health Awareness Month. Nice touch. Even if I was suicidal, I'd laugh at this.

Seriously, there is NO way that was an accident. Someone thought it would either be funny and clever or more likely, they thought they could slip it by people and have a private laugh.

Everyone who reviewed and approved it should be fired, not because I'm outraged about the "insensitivity," but because they jeopardized the brand and offended customers. Whoever is responsible cost the company a lot of money, no less so than if they had launched a failed marketing campaign (which this was) or poorly selling product.

If only more would follow up on it.
