Shoulda been Idris but they left it too long and he's too old. 10 years ago he would have been a perfect Bond. Is Tom Hardy mixed race? If so I say he gets it easily.

Hopefully, Bond will always be white. Write another character with a name and personality all his own and start a new franchise, but leave Bond alone.

Personally I don't mind. It's not taking away from the many Bond out there. Dr. Who can be a woman.

It would be nice if more writers wrote diverse starring characters without it being niche but they haven't, or those projects aren't greenlit, hence the changes to well established characters.

The next Bond will be under 35, with a decent resume but not too famous, and not identified with any other major franchise. He won't be black, but he might be Asian. He'll probably be white. The studio has the Asian markets to think about.

Just make them conventionally attractive and fit! That's your one job imo. If you want a bond with melanin, the Bridgerton guy is perfect, pay whatever he asks and get this going.

They need to pick someone around 35 that can do 4-5 films over the course of 10-15 years, then move on.

Part of the momentum of the films is the debate about who should be the next Bond. Also, switching bonds allows for increased box office for both the first film by a new actor and his last film in the role.

They get so much free publicity and media attention around the picks and changeovers that using someone, even a famous one like Connery, for that many years is no longer feasible with the competition for audience share of mind.
