Do you find yourself having less patience with idiocy as you age?
When someone does or says something that many people would consider "dumb", earlier in my life I would have thought: "No, no, they aren't stupid, everyone is intelligent in their own way. You just have to learn to appreciate that part."
Now I think: "Good Lord, the world is full of utter morons."
Someone named their baby something stupid, like Kyree or Beylynda? "Perhaps it's a family name, or perhaps it's from a different culture. Don't judge!"
Now I think: "Good Lord, what a stupid baby name."

R23 people are not stupid by choice. To understand the world you have to think a lot and people just don't do that naturally. Think of how hard it was to write essays or do math when you were young. We are allowing millions of Mexicans in year after year. We are too stupid and naive to understand that these people vote for more immigration and want to make whites a minority. History shows that humans fragment by race and fight for resources. It such a basic lesson of history that minorities Are persecuted.

One example would be Twitter. They approved a deal to present the offer for Elon Musk to buy Twitter to the shareholders. It will most likely take another six months to complete the purchase of Twitter for anything whatsoever to happen because it is still under the same management, same rules, and same employees.
However I see idiots on Twitter acting like things have already changed, that old people who were banned are suddenly back, that they can now say all sorts of things with impunity, that Elon is there listening to their pleas to unban this person or remove this rule since they think he's already in change, that a 44 billion dollar transaction has happened overnight, because they don't read more than headlines or tweets. All of these people are idiots. I've seen this even from allegedly intelligent people, which makes me think less of them.
They say Twitter feels different already! This may actually be valid, because a lot of left wing people have deleted their accounts already - the most dramatic and whiny ones - and an equal number of right wingers appear to have replaced them overnight. Twitter said the shifting numbers were organic, meaning that they aren't necessarily bots.

Yes, because some things that have taken me a lifetime to understand don't come naturally to others. I have an attitude, "I know this, why don't you know this?" I have to stop and remind myself how long some things took to figure out. Now that I have a handle on life, I'm too old to do anything about it š

I think everyone in the world is less patient with everyone else. The 24/7 barrage of media and social media doesn't reward kindness or empathy, tolerance or forbearance.
It rewards gleefully tearing off a piece of anyone who disagrees with you or annoys you in the slightest. It rewards assuming the absolute worst of everyone else's motives, and smugly painting your own actions in the best possible light.
These traits would have been considered trashy by any decent person 20 years ago. Not that they didn't exist, but they certainly weren't something most people aspire to.

R31, thatās easy to say, not so easy to practice, though I do agree. For me, what helps me become humble is when I force myself to recognize what a judgemental hypocrite I am. Without fail, I manage to conjure up a time where I engaged in almost the exact same bad behavior as the asshole Iām judging! And even if I havenāt acted out the same exact way, Iāve gotten close enough to be a hypocrite for judging others. The older you get, the more mistakes youāve made, so I really am a huge hypocrite then for judging others soooooo harshly. So lately Iāve come full circle back to practicing extravagant compassion and radical conclusion, where I know in my head āall people have potential regardless of how theyāve lived theyāre past, all people are redeemable, I can learn something from every single person I meet, and we are all so much more than our worst mistakeā. So to me āall peopleā demands that it really is *all* people, no exception.
And just to be fully transparent, the one area where I continue to struggle with my own hypocrisy/judgement is in politics. No, I donāt want to practice compassion and inclusion with them, no, but at all! But I know that that is the way out of the shit we are in as a society. Weāve created a culture where everyone who disagrees with you is evil or bad. How can we expect for things to get better as long as we hold onto that idea? For America to heal, we all need to be extremists in practicing accepting *all* people, including Rethuglicans. Iām not there yet with GQPers, but I finally realize that I have to put it into a context that I can live with. If we donāt hear more leaders talk about this, we wonāt get better, but it really does start with each one of us. There is no āusā and āthemā there is only āusā.

Of course we need to take responsibility for our choices, but I think the media is to blame for a lot of this.
They cater to the lowest common denominator -- and emphasize ENTERTAINMENT and trivial, fluffy topics, instead of concentrating on the news. This started back in the early 80's, but has quintupled over the last 10 years or so, where say, 'Good Morning America' spends maybe four minutes at 7am, reporting the news, then the other 54 (minus commercials) talking about this celebrity or that overpaid sports figure, etc. Yes, everyone needs a break from the news, but come on...
And if you click on almost any news link online, you don't have to READ IT, just watch the freakin' video.
In another 10 years we're gonna have 60% imbeciles, 15% educated types, and the rest -- Robots.

Look at it this way: A smart person does not put himself in a position where idiots can be a direct threat to him. We all have to suffer idiots, sure, but mentally rolling your eyes is a price we have to pay for when we have to socialize with others. There are tools and strategies out there, so people can't push your buttons. But we also have skills to spot an idiot or a troll indenting to push our buttons a mile away, giving us enough time to either avoid that person or to put our defenses up to not let him get to us.

At school, it was fun to ridicule the students who just couldnāt grasp complex things like multiplication, prepositions, paragraphs, or the three branches of government.
But now that you are dependent on them to look up your account information or rebook a reservation, you realize that your ridicule was just a temporary joy, and now you must somehow coax the morons into doing what you need. A friend who lived in India taught me the way: one instruction at a time, binary choices only, never a new instruction until the current one is completed.
Itās even worse when theyāve ascended into positions of power, even power over you. Despite deserving punishment for their horrible politics, I felt some sympathy for the likely Ivy/Rhodes Scholar assistant who had to edit Trumpās morning pictorial report of the most important and complex issues in the world in a way he could understand. If, for whatever apparent reason, you fail to grasp the concept of not engaging with idiots, maybe staying at home is indeed the better solution.
Smart people do know how to spot rude and idiot drivers and keep their distance. The same goes with random strangers, or people you know and loath, in a parking lot. If you are not able to do so, I don't want to call you stupid, but I guess your life must be really challenging then.
