R16, R17, wrong era. That was early 90's.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 26, 2022 2:06 PM |
purists will follow the genre trend of any given era...
but this was a more negotiable period of the popular with the eclectic... across genres.
as everyone from the clubs to mtv had stopped dancing to the beat of music and only fell prey to the popular dances of the day. . . it was the rise of the millenials and they were virtually tone deaf to all but the beat of their own drum.
lps mattered, some of that shit was expensive, but if somebody had a changer, you set it to random.. if it hits shit, it's okay, sometimes people need a breather. Of course, you could still align it up by individual choice.. but that usually runs afoul of choosing your favorite songs or chart toppers than knowing your audience.. there was a wide variety of music and the genres at that point were still distinct.
But if you make a mixed tape, then think of it in way of radio play.. one end should flow into the start of another, even if it's an entirely different set of music... the scene wasn't as bad as line dancing (more tejano but country had a revival, too, as well as hiphop - too many of the fly girls might risk broken hips these days) but it sure damn close... but if there's any children in the room, they need to see their mothers get embarassingly freaky -- few other things work so well for abstinence program, so account for that too.

It’s Not Right But It's Okay (Thunderpuss Mix) · Whitney Houston
It doesn’t seem like Whitney should be on a playlist like this. But this seemed to be everywhere in 98 / 99

I'll add the 4 poppers diva anthems.
Cher - Strong Enough
Diana Ross - Not Over You Yet
Tina Turner - When The Heartache Is Over
Belinda Carlisle - All God's Children.
With the right remixer you can blend them into a 10 minute megamix.

TitsMcGee, were you rolling when you posted R26 and the following posts? Because you make it sound like you were. That's cute though. Even triggering in a sense, yum.

This one I'm sure you never heard unless you were in France back in 2003. It was written by a friend of mine, Nicolas Subrechicot, was only released in France and even got into the top 20 back home.
