Are they funny? I've never seen one.
Why are Tyler Perry's Madea movies so popular?

They're popular with black people who make up 95% of the audience if you go see one.

They are not that popular. They gross ~40-50m on a budget of 5-8m so they're profitable and that's why he keeps making them

His movies appeal to older churchgoing Black women like my grandma and aunts. I can't lie and say they don't reflect religious-minded Black people in the South albeit exaggerated. Madea is not a stereotypical Mammy, she's confrontational, loud, nosy, obnoxious, violent and self-righteous and is either feared or disliked by many. Madea is Black Southernism for "My Dear." I used to hate Tyler Perry but I grew to admire his work ethic and loyalty to his mission, he keeps Black actors employed. Even if his work is mostly shit and moralizing hot garbage. I still prefer it to trash like Empire or Love and Hip-Hop.
On a side note, they need to bring back a show like Noah's Arc. There was also some web series, I watched about Atlanta gays on YouTube but I forgot the name.

Hallmark and GAC movies are the white equivalent of these movies. Hasbeen actors sign up for these roles for money.
