Her older sister was the one who was supposed to marry Franz Joseph, but he preferred Sissi. Helene would have done a MUCH better job than Sissi tho.
Tho not ugly per se, Helene had such a severe look to her. That being said she was the only one of all her sisters that had a happy, albeit short, marriage. Plus, marrying the fabulously wealthy Thurn and Taxis family, she was by far the richest.
