Rapper Isaiah Rashad addresses Male Sex Video Outing at Coachella
Isaiah Rashad opened his Coachella 2022 set with a powerful pre-recorded film acknowledging recent speculation about his sexuality. In a collage of media footage and audio, commentators react to a video of Rashad leaked this year, ostensibly showing the Top Dawg Entertainment rapper being intimate with other men. The attempt to out him backfired, and, in fact, corralled support for him, the film suggests. After covering the leak, the film plays several messages of support. “I’m glad that he can finally be himself,” said one. Watch footage below.
During the set, Rashad thanked fans for their messages of positivity, saying they “kept [him] alive these last couple of months.”
Pitchfork has emailed Rashad’s representatives for further comment.

Between Kanye West’s sudden decision to cancel his set, the announcement of a surprise, final Brockhampton album, and new music from Megan Thee Stallion, Coachella 2022 had a bumper crop of viral happenings, even for a major festival. But one moment stood out for its real-world gravity: Isaiah Rashad’s return to the public eye following the February online leak of a video that appeared to show him sexually involved with other men.
“I see all the messages and all that shit, all the positivity,” Rashad said to a rapturous crowd when he first took the stage. “Y'all n-ggas done kept me alive these last couple months." Back when the videos were leaked, artists like Duke Deuce, DijahSB, and Chuck Inglish voiced their support for Rashad online.
Rashad has been candid about his struggles with depression and addiction–notably in a 2021 FADER cover story–and some fans were concerned that negative reaction to the leaked video could affect his mental health. Though he’s frank in his music about low moments and insecurities, Rashad is also careful about what information makes its way to the masses.

Good for him. I don't follow modern rap, so don't know who he is, but I do so wish him well.

Why are so many rappers Gay, it seems like a very homophobic music genre to go into if you are, why not choose something like musical theater instead where they’re going get support right off the bat?

Seems that all these rappers like to suck cock from time to time.

R9 I assumed they used to date. I'm sure it's embarrassing for a woman if a video of her ex getting his dick sucked by two latino men goes public. Turns out it was just a rumor that they were an item.

There was also another video of him actually sucking a dick himself.
I don't really rate his music, but I feel bad for him to have it all come out this way. He has 3 kids (who will probably be teased about this) and already had a lot of issues with drugs and depression. He was the 'next big thing' years ago when Kendrick Lamar signed him and he disappeared for 5 full years before coming back this past year with another album.

Come on, you are overreacting. These rappers are mostly bisexual and sucking dicks on down low, it is not big deal for them. Their homophobia is more turned against openly gay people.

When did Cochella become so, “rappy”? Jesus, country music. Now, they even overtake a rich hippy rock festival?!?

R10, hip hop is the music of a generation or an era. It dominates youth culture. It is urban culture. It’s only natural that some men who are rappers are bi and gay. Many are. They relate to hip hop, love it, livd it. They naturally have no interest or affinity for musical theater. Few do

R16 is largely correct. The homophobia is mostly directed toward effeminate men or men who are stereotypically gay.

r10 rappers appear to live a fabulous opulent lifestyle, and people like Nicki Minaj, and Khia, etc before her influenced a generation of gays with aggressive lyrics about handling men for their sexual needs and tossing them out like garbage. So yes the number of gay rappers like Lil Nas and Saucy Santana will continue to grow.

With all respect to Saucy, he has limited appeal, only to women and effeminate men. He presents himself in a way that is almost quasitrans, and his lyrics aren’t exactly the type of thing most men would be comfortable rapping. Lil Nas X is not a conventional rapper; he’s pop rap. He appeals to non urban folks mostly. He’s a modern Nelly. Rap needs an openly gay, bi, or nonstraight male rapper to make it big as an urban artist. It is almost certain that such a rapper will be conventionally masculine, which is good. Urban masculine bi, gay, and nonstraight men need a rapper who they can identify and relate to; Saucy is not it. Isaiah is a breath of fresh air

Saucy refers to himself as a “gorl” and often uses female pronouns. He’s not gonna get most urban men or any sexual orientation to roll with that

There have long been rumors of Sean P Diddy, aka Daddy, aka Diddy, aka P Daddy, Combs liking the dick, same goes for Will Smith (and why he is a rage a holic). When Maze was everywhere and a P,Diddy portege, it was rumored he walked away from it due to his religious background and after seeing the "gay shit" at a Diddy party.

I was supposed to say as a gay black rapper. We all know how homophobic the black community can be, especially within the black rapper community.

Black men aren’t so much homophobic as they are generally effemophobic. Isaiah has received very little negative response From the urban community Because of the sex video. I think it’s largely because he was being serviced and not in the passive role. The stigma towards homosexuality is largely about men who assume the feminine or passive role. Imagine if he had been giving oral in this video. The reaction would’ve been totally different. Instead, not even 50 Cent is saying anything bad about Isaiah in this situation. Remember, that surveys and studies show the African-American men engage in same-sex sexual Conda much more than white men. But, a lot of these men do not view themselves as gay or less manly because they only participate in the active role when they get with a guy. Remember too, that Much a popular hip-hop lionizes thugs, who spend significant time in jail or prison, where men who have sex with men are largely accepted as long as they are only activo, never passivo.

R36 Good to see mostly positive comments even in the conservative Daily Mail. These same people would not be as kind to the transtapo. Thank god they realize there is a difference between gays and trans people. We are not the same. The trans community consists of mentally ill people claiming to be women. The gay community cosists of people who love the same sex. That's it. The gay community is not hurting anyone like the trans community is. Even the most conservative people can see this.

Racist bullshit here "celebrating" his courage to admit within a toxic subculture that his gay sex tape indeed showed him have gay sex.
Quit treating black people and culture like you're doing field work in the veldt and you think the specimens are "pretty."
