Love Is All Around- Full Length Original Theme To The Mary Tyler Moore Show

If you listen closely it's very derivative of "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" which would have been the perfect theme for the show given the initial premise (her moving to MPS after an engagement ended). They never wanted to pay royalties in those days for existing music, so instead they commissioned this. the theme from "Bewitched" was a more blatant example (plus, Screen Gems, the show's producer owned the publishing).

Too slow. It desperately needs to be jazzed up, in my opinion.

My favorite version is the one from the first season.

I finally looked up the lyrics, which are “you can have the town, why don’t you take it.” Always sounded to me like you can nab it down.

First season was the best in the series - can't believe it was 52 years ago.

I always thought the MTM theme was a knock-off of Bread songs (I Found Her Diary, If a Picture Paints a Thousand Words / I'd Like to Make It with You). I also hear some Paul Williams (We've Only Just Begun).

Bread, Paul Williams, Bacharach....It was a time of pop songs with sweet pretty melodies. And this song certainly has one. I don't think it sounds like any one particular song, it sounds like the era.

The MTM Show always makes me think of Oprah. She practically took ownership of the show in latter years.
