Former Tennessee mayor( black woman ) was not allowed to dine at restaurant for wearing leggings
by Anonymous | reply 53 | April 17, 2022 1:05 AM |
OP, are you the same person who made the thread about not knowing where things are on a map because Atlanta is certainly not in Tennessee. My god, these threads lately are like something of a parody on a show within a show.

leggings with what? cameltoe? 30 pounds of rippling cellulite?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 16, 2022 4:45 PM |
OP you start a LOT of stupid threads. Good lord, do you just sit around trolling? You realize you could buy some house plants to take up your time?

by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 16, 2022 4:56 PM |
Let me guess, racism? 🙄
Capital Grille is a high-end restaurant that has a clearly-defined dress code at all of it’s restaurants.
Leggings do not meet those stated dress code requirements. Does every restaurant, even ones that are supposed to deliver an upscale experience, need to be accommodative of casual dress?
This is why Dems are going to lose big in the upcoming midterms. People are sick of this shit.
PS - I’ve dined at the Capital Grille in Dallas with no issues as a black male. I follow the dress code. There’s no conspiracy to keep black people out of Capital Grille.

Seriously? Why did you vote for the shithead Republican? IT WAS THE LEGGINGS!
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 16, 2022 5:07 PM |
I agree with you R6, but I'm thinking the problem is that Bottoms is still adjusting to post-mayoral life and while certain things were overlooked in the past (like leggings at Capital Grille), they aren't overlooked now.

by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 16, 2022 5:08 PM |
Possible, R9, but do you really think Bottoms’ post would “blow up” on Twitter if she were white and was denied entry to Capital Grille?
I doubt it. This post is trending because she is black, and the implication is “racism”, which is Dems and the Left’s go-to argument for literally everything. It’s tiresome and ridiculous.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 16, 2022 5:17 PM |
Would someone PLEASE inform the OP just what state Atlanta is in. Or at least give him a map. Dear sweet Jebus, I'm embarrassed for him.
As much as I like former Mayor Bottoms, she was in the wrong on this one. Leggings are not proper attire for The Capital Grille, even if it is their Perimeter Mall location.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 16, 2022 5:17 PM |
I didn’t even click on the link, R12, but accusations of racism in Atlanta of all places, is even more ridiculous.
Atlanta is majority black. Everywhere you go there are black people everywhere, even in Buck Head.

[quote]Possible, [R9], but do you really think Bottoms’ post would “blow up” on Twitter if she were white and was denied entry to Capital Grille?
Probably not, but that is what Twitter does, turns everything into a race war. None of us should be shocked that Twitter is being, well... Twitter.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 16, 2022 5:21 PM |
Maybe you could see too much of Bottoms' bottom.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 16, 2022 5:21 PM |
I could see if she wore the leggings on her breasts. Otherwise, restaurant, get over yourself!

Capital Grille is only high-end to people who typically dine at the Golden Arches. They’re a franchise that has smartly placed themselves conveniently close to business areas so that people go there for interview lunches and other workouts of the corporate credit card. Leggings are perfectly within the demographic.

Women think they are "flaunting their curves" when they wear this sad trend. The hot ones are inspected for flaws, the others are ignored because we're trying to eat here, okay? You don't even want to look at your fat ass, why are you inflicting it on the world?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 16, 2022 5:36 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 16, 2022 5:36 PM |
Capital Grille is a high-end chain restaurant by most any standard, R19. Look at the prices. You won’t find any Capital Grille’s in lower or middle class neighborhoods, they are generally in high traffic business districts, as you said.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 16, 2022 5:36 PM |
r6 is absolutely correct. And the only reason to tweet this is to imply some sort of discrimination. I don't get what the mall location has to do with the attire and her seeminly implying that there should be an area for casual attire wearing customers.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 16, 2022 5:39 PM |
I'm not a woman, so I really don't understand leggings. I thought they were workout wear, but I see them all over the place now which leads me to think that they've graduated to some type casual/comfort wear that is okay for outside of the gym. Basically, they're okay in different settings depending on how you accessorize? Can any ladies shed some light on this?
This is DL afterall, where most posters still think ladies should wear dresses, hats and gloves when shopping.

[quote] Atlanta is majority black
Actually Atlanta no longer has a majority black population. Black people in Atlanta have become increasingly well off and started moving out to the burbs some years ago and the latest numbers are that the black population is now down around 48%.

I used to take my late mother to the Swan Coach House for lunch twice a month. I well remember the day we were waiting to be seated and this young couple came in. The woman was wearing quite nice designer jeans, a lovely top and a dark blue blazer, and the man was in business casual attire. The hostess went up to them and said "I'm sorry, we don't serve in jeans". The embarrassed couple turned and walked out.
If you don't want to follow a restaurant's dress policy prepare to be asked to leave.

[quote] Can any ladies shed some light on this?
There are different schools of thought on this.
Traditionalists (and apparently this maitre d’) think leggings are never appropriate outside the gym.
The majority of people now think “it depends” - it depends what else you wear with them, especially whether your crotch is covered, and it depends on the occasion. I’d say most people now find leggings perfectly appropriate for something like a plane ride that is not formal and for which clothing needs to be comfortable. Leggings can also make sense for a dinner out if you’re wearing a long, sheer, flowy top that covers your behind. I’d say most people still think wearing a short top with leggings makes them inappropriate outside the gym or errands because it’s they’re so form-fitting. Especially true if the leggings are very thin.
Legging radicals think they’re fine to wear for any occasion, the way you might wear any pants. This is still rare.
My guess is the Mayor fell into camp 2 and was wearing the leggings with a flowy top and jewelry, not a sweaty gym tee.

I'd be embarrassed to be in a Capital Grille unless I was dressed up.
This shit is out of control.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | April 16, 2022 5:58 PM |
I call bullshit on Capital Grill. I have dined there so many times in multiple states and cities---wearing a casual shirt, jeans and leather shoes with absolutely no problem.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 16, 2022 6:00 PM |
The respect for the Capital Grille is very out of DL character. It’s a nationwide chain restaurant, not L’Epicure.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 16, 2022 6:02 PM |
Was she showing a camel toe? If she had nothing on to cover her modesty then she should have been kicked out. No one in a nice restaurant wants to see some broad's pubic mound bulging while they're trying to enjoy their trout almondine.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 16, 2022 6:02 PM |
Capital Grille may be a chain, but it's not on the same level as most restaurant chains. My God, it's not fucking Old Country Buffet..

[quote]The respect for the Capital Grille is very out of DL character. It’s a nationwide chain restaurant, not L’Epicure. Exactly R36. Capital Grille is a step above Cheesecake Factory. Tavern on the Green it is not.

Hello! I guess you're new here. You may pick up your welcome packet in the foyer.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | April 16, 2022 6:11 PM |
You see to me this is complicated. Because as the above poster above stated I've seen people wear jeans at the Capital Grille. But jeans with nice shoes and button up, is business casual. Leggings are technically gym gear. And I know in the South sometimes they get strict even with the person's overall appearance is more business casual. But to me it was a bit careless of her to tweet this knowing its implications. Then again its her twitter she can tweet whatever the fuck she wants. I liked her from the documentary I wantched about Atlanta's missing children. She's pretty and had a certain charm and eloquence about her.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | April 16, 2022 6:36 PM |
Bottoms also tweeted:
“Odd that a restaurant in a mall parking lot turns away customers in “mall” attire. Asked if I could sit in the bar area and was told, “No”. Rules are the rules. Just wonder if the woman who came in immediately after me, who I did not see come out, was also denied service.
It’s fine for a restaurant to have a dress code. If they don’t enforce it in respect to everyone, that’s a problem.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | April 16, 2022 6:37 PM |
Interesting that she doesn't say what the woman the other woman was wearing. If they allowed her in then apparently she was properly attired.
I just hope and pray she was wearing a panty shield. Her fupa should be covered at all times in public.

What does being a chain have to do with whether it’s a nice or formal restaurant? Morton’s Steakhouse is also a chain

Yall realize that due to the commercialization and brand recognition of our culture most restaurants are chains unless its some one off swanky French restaurant in Chicago or Soho. Nobu is a chain, and is certainly high end. Furthermore a company's dress code does not make it high end though that usually is a correlation. Like for examaple Nobu, again a high end restaurant that doesn't require stuffy clothes or business attire. I've been to plenty of high end restaurants in Manhattan that don't have specific dress codes. Though one obviously wouldn't walk in there in surfer gear while as Nobu @ Malibu one could even wear flip flops. Capital Grille is on the same level as Morton's or Ruth Chris even if its considered the bottom tier of the 3. Thats like saying Lexus is not a luxury car; it is on the same line as Mercedez or BMW, though most people consider it the bototm tier; though some wealthy people just like the Lexus brand and swear by it.
Capital Grille is not Outbeak nor Texas Roadhouse; it is a high end chain restaurant with a dress code. Hell Peter Lugers is a chain restaurant because they have more than one location. Most, even nice or seemingly exclusive, entities are chains nowadays.

A former mayor thinks she can be seated at a fine dining establishment wearing leggings. And then has to announce on social media she was refused service. Keep milking the race card, because it's reaching the point of diminishing returns.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | April 17, 2022 12:25 AM |
r50, Leave her alone. She's so pretty. You know sometimes I forget black people are required to wear the burder of whole race whenever we just want to be human. She may just wanted to tweet her frustration that the fkin Capital Grille decided to get cute with her. It is high end because because its prices make it so, but come on.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | April 17, 2022 12:31 AM |
Those bitches at R18 all look like their pimp is lurking in the background keeping an eye on them. Leggings are fucking gross, and they are EVERYWHERE. Reminds me of stirrup pants of the 80s. The worst offenders are fat ass bitches with their rolls enhanced by the skin tight fabric.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | April 17, 2022 12:35 AM |
This thread needs to die. There are so many idiots in this country. Look at the fkin title. She was the former mayor of Atlanta for Christ sake. OP is an idiot. Capital Grille does have dress code. She may or may not have been race baiting. But come on the fkin title of this this is Former Tennessee mayor when Atlanta is not only one of the biggest but and most important commercial areas of the south its not even IN FKIN TENNESSEE.
