Ed Buck Sentenced to Prison for 30 Years

(CNN) Democratic donor Ed Buck, who in 2021 was convicted by a federal jury of nine felonies, including giving methamphetamine to two men who died at his West Hollywood apartment after being injected with the drug, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison, a spokesperson for the United States Attorney's Office Central District of California said Thursday.

Buck, 67, was sentenced to 360 months, said spokesperson Ciaran McEvoy.

Buck was found guilty in 2021 of two counts of distribution of methamphetamine resulting in death, four counts of distribution of methamphetamine, one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises and two counts of enticement to travel in interstate commerce for prostitution.

Gemmel Moore, 26, died of an overdose in July 2017 and Timothy Dean, 55, died in January 2019.

Good. Scumbag/freak.

by Anonymousreply 1April 15, 2022 7:01 AM

I knew Ed when he lived in Phoenix up in a mansion on Squaw Peak. He deserves this. Believe me.

by Anonymousreply 2April 15, 2022 7:03 AM

Will he make it out alive?

by Anonymousreply 3April 15, 2022 7:13 AM

Let's hope he will be fully rehabilitated when he is released from prison at 97 years old.

Don't post and run. Paint a picture for us.

Die POS die.

by Anonymousreply 6April 15, 2022 7:56 AM

30 years, that's it?

Ed will enjoy prison, that's too bad.

by Anonymousreply 7April 15, 2022 8:56 AM

30 years for two counts of distribution of meth?

by Anonymousreply 9April 15, 2022 9:58 AM

He'll be in heaven. Prison is, BY FAR, the best place to pick up black dudes. All sizes, all complexions, and sooooo many in one place at one time.

by Anonymousreply 10April 15, 2022 10:05 AM

He has lived a life Lindsey Graham could only dream off having.

by Anonymousreply 11April 15, 2022 10:14 AM

You can bet R10 is what Buck fantasizes about.

It probably will be more like the demise of Gibson’s character at the end of Braveheart.

by Anonymousreply 12April 15, 2022 10:18 AM

30 years sounds harsh for what is basically a weekend in the Pines. There are old men like him everywhere.

He deserves it though.

by Anonymousreply 13April 15, 2022 10:20 AM

Good thing Mr. Ed Buck likes rough black trade, cause there's going to be plenty where he's going...

In the US you are either a hyped hero or a total monster. There is nothing in between. He was addicted to meth, for Christ’s sake, as were his victims. Meth makes you a total immoral monster.

by Anonymousreply 15April 15, 2022 12:48 PM

So sad.

by Anonymousreply 16April 15, 2022 12:55 PM

I'm assuming that both guys were getting paid.

Why else would you bother with this guy. Drugs are everywhere and don't come with a creeper attached.

by Anonymousreply 17April 15, 2022 1:17 PM

Drugs can do terrible things to you. Prior to his meth addiction, all was fine

by Anonymousreply 18April 15, 2022 1:31 PM

Tomato tomahto. He wasn’t so bad.

by Anonymousreply 19April 15, 2022 1:32 PM

Where's his money from?

by Anonymousreply 20April 15, 2022 2:09 PM

The slave trade, judging by his company.

by Anonymousreply 21April 15, 2022 4:12 PM

Last night’s Law and Order was RIPPED from this story’s headlines.

by Anonymousreply 22April 15, 2022 4:15 PM

Good!

Ed is a POS.

by Anonymousreply 23April 15, 2022 4:18 PM

Ed looks terrible. He won’t last long anywhere, let alone in prison.

by Anonymousreply 24April 15, 2022 5:02 PM

Dont defend him. After ONE person overdoses in your home, you stop. Let alone a second one dying.

He's a piece of shit. He should really done the honorable thing.

by Anonymousreply 25April 15, 2022 9:19 PM

[quote] I'm assuming that both guys were getting paid.

To die?

by Anonymousreply 26April 15, 2022 9:24 PM

I wonder if he'll be kept in segregation because of the possibility of jailhouse justice from righteously angry black inmates? Either way is alright with me; kept isolated for the rest of his miserable existence or beaten to death by black inmates.

by Anonymousreply 27April 15, 2022 9:48 PM

Yes, Ed Buck certainly did have a thing for BBC.

R20 I've often wondered the same thing. What was his actual profession? He founded a business called "Gopher Courier" in the eighties which is long gone, somehow made a fortune off of that, then began funnelling money into political campaigns. He was originally an "actor and model" (escort.)

Gopher Courier sounds like it probably provided service on the Gopher system, which was an early version of the internet used by academic institutions in the eighties. The World Wide Web replaced it.

So Ed Buck had no known income source after 1993.

Why is his major descriptor by CNN "Democratic donor," never mind the DM's "Democratic mega-donor"? I mean, I know what the intended implication is---birds of a feather---but still, why?

Is he nothing else? Can he not just be called "billionaire"?

Are wealthy criminals who give money to Republicans initially described as "Republican donor"?

by Anonymousreply 33April 16, 2022 12:03 AM

R33 He didn't have an actual job.

[quote]After ONE person overdoses in your home, you stop.

Or you move.

by Anonymousreply 35April 16, 2022 12:21 AM

I'm happy that he's going to prison. However, rich guys like Buck are infamous for being able to buy whatever they want in prison, from protection to sex. So, I hope someone just kills him.

by Anonymousreply 36April 16, 2022 12:48 AM

R33 I used to live in California and he was very active in Democratic politics there. It's basically what he was known for before he started killing men.

by Anonymousreply 37April 16, 2022 12:50 AM

He did love animals, so there’s one bright spot in his favor.

by Anonymousreply 38April 16, 2022 1:12 AM

"Edward Bernard Peter Buck (né Buckmelter; August 24, 1954) is an American convicted felon and businessman. A former model and actor, he made a significant amount of money running and selling the data service company Gopher Courier. He became involved in politics after the election of Evan Mecham as Governor of Arizona in 1986; Buck, an Arizona native, led the effort to recall him from office, accusing him of racism and corruption. The experience led Buck to change his party affiliation from Republican to Democrat, and he has since donated heavily to Democratic politicians. In 2007, he ran an unsuccessful campaign for the city council of West Hollywood, California."

"In his interview with Montini, Buck said he worked for the Arizona franchise of Rapid Information Services, a business owned by a friend that provided driver’s license information to insurance companies. Despite his lack of business experience, and the business’s poor financial situation (his friend ran it out of a one-bedroom apartment), Buck saw great potential in it. A year and a half after joining and helping build the business, Buck bought it out of bankruptcy for $250,000 and renamed it Gopher Courier. Five years later he sold it for what he said in another interview was “more than a million dollars profit.”

Keep in mind Ed Buck "pocketed" millions before selling Gopher Courier.

by Anonymousreply 42April 16, 2022 4:12 AM

Did Buck attend college?

by Anonymousreply 43April 16, 2022 7:41 AM

Yes, but only so he cold get close to the basketball team.

by Anonymousreply 44April 16, 2022 7:50 AM

R42 What did he do all day, then?

by Anonymousreply 45April 16, 2022 8:07 AM

I don't know him.
