Is Pretty Little Liars worth sticking with until the end?

I loved the first 2 and a bit series but have found it increasingly difficult to follow or stay interested in since about halfway into season series 3. So my question is is it worth sticking with until the end and finding out who the ultimate M is? They are good at throwing morsels of new intrigue into each episode but I am finding myself less gripped by the twists and turns,

It might be a side effect of binge watching it -Started watching 7 weeks ago or it could be that the show loses its sparkle and impact at this point regardless. Can any dataloungers advise please?

There are lots of hot and beautiful men popping into the series briefly or as regulars but irs not enough to stop the feeling of watching being a chore creeping in.

I am watching on BBC Iplayer

I would say no; for me the drop off occurred right after the end of the first season, it gets progressively more ridiculous with each season-but I stuck through to the end.

Convoluted beyond belief, jumping the shark practically every future episode…ugh.

If you do stick with it, bravo, but I would definitely say do NOT watch Ravenswood, or the Perfectionists.

I meant ultimate A not M in my opening post. r1 Thank you .I am at the point in the story were the corrupt police officer has just been murdered and Hannahs mum is acting suspiciously, Is M not revealed until series 7? I find it silly how they trusted Mona again.

Are Ravenswood and Perfectionists spin offs or contain PLL cast members?

Ravenswood was a failed spinoff starring Caleb, with Hanna making an occasional appearance. It was very heavy on the supernatural.

Perfectionists was an all-new cast, save for Mona & another character, don’t want to spoil anything, as I’m not entirely sure which season you’re on right now.

Even though I sound like I’m down on the show, I’m sure I’ll try the HBO Max prequel (?) that’s upcoming.

r3 I am on season 4 episode 4! Thank you! M is trying to get Emilys mum into trouble alleging child abuse and Spencers sister Melissa has just been found out for having a mysterious clay mask of her face made!

Did the show reach a natural conclusion or was the show axed because of low or falling ratings?

I binge watched the first two seasons one Christmas break and then started season 3, but gave up because it was getting so stupid. First two seasons were good, though?

Who actually turned out to be A?

by Anonymousreply 7April 16, 2022 3:28 AM

r7 I felt satisfied when it was Mona but frustrated when they moved the goalposts and had Mona being a puppet for a bigger puppetmaster A whos motive is still unclear.

R7 I won’t spoil it here for Surviving Angel. Mona was the “first” A but it gets very, very screwy & ridiculous.

I think the show played out as they intended it to, the ratings didn’t cause its cancellation. But they stretched the story very thin by the end.

It probably should’ve ended around Season 4 or so.

r9 Thank you.

Loved the original series for being so campy, ridiculous and it had some great male eye candy. The ending and the reveal of the final A was sort of shitty, but I cared so much for the silly characters that I was actually sad when it finally ended (even though I went a couple of times "Oh God, please make it stop!").

I liked both, especially Perfectionist for the return of two major characters of the original series and one of the main characters was gay, played by Eli Brown who is in the new Gossip Girl.

BTW, just finished PLL: Original Sin and it's pretty great. More horror slasher than the original series. It is produced by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Katie Keene, Carrie). It features a complete new cast. The moms are much more involved in the storylines and the overall mystery. It's very girl power, female empowerment but what else do you expect from PLL? And in the final episode two characters from the original show get mentioned in a rather sweet way.

I’m 40% through with the new series & it’s really great, highly recommended!
