I get that she's sexy and is apparently morally or politically opposed to smiling, but her resting facial expression is unpleasant. She always looks disgusted or like she smells something bad. I would go out of my way to avoid her.

She’s pregnant and women’s faces change when they’re pregnant. Their jaw, lips and nose get weird. It’s all the bloat and that hormone that makes the bones or cartilage soften (the stuff that makes it possible to squeeze out an infant). Other than the facial changes and the cover, I think she looks great in the other photos.

LOL, she was famous before that. She had a bunch of hits by that time like Pon De Replay, Umbrella, SOS, Unfaithful, Shut Up and Drive, Take A Bow, Disturbia, etc. She's famous for the same reason Aaliyah, Britney and J Lo were, she was pretty, light-skinned, had charisma and the camera loved her. Talent never seemed to be linked to pop culture fame. Beyonce is talented but even then, her voice is not all that and she's sorta robotic. I actually think Rihanna can sing (not amazing) but it's not awful, tiny voice that is versatile enough for the dance music she makes. She does sing live sometimes. She can't dance though and is awful on stage, definitely a studio artist. There's a reason she stopped making music, it was never her true passion. She just took the money and ran.

I feel the posters saying she's unattractive or average just prefer the European aesthetic (which is fine) but she's far from ugly and she is very glamorous and beautiful. She's black (though light-skinned with green eyes) and has a wide nose and full lips which was a no-no in fashion modeling for a lot time that pushed the WASPy, Nordic or Germanic look. Naomi and Tyra both both nose jobs to fit closer to the Eurocentric look. Donyale Luna, Iman, Beverly Johnson and Cicely Tyson had tiny facial features as well. Halle got a nose job to fit better in Hollywood. Rihanna didn't get a nose job which made her such a rarity. Selena Gomez is similarly very pretty and has strong Indigenous features like her very round face and pouty lips which some posters claim makes her "average" or "ugly." Fashion is more inclusive of different types of beauty. Just like how Janice Dickinson and Gia Carangi introduced a more Mediterranean look. Rihanna and others are introducing a more diverse taste.

R48 True. I don't know people expect rich celebrities who from poor areas to just go back and settle there. There's a reason Will Smith doesn't live in Philly or any of these NFL players don't move back to their shitty podunk towns in the South. Why do people think they tried to get out in the first place? And it's not because they don't care about their roots. Many do send money to help or try to get their family to move with them to LA or wherever they live. When you are ambitious to better yourself, are wealthy and reach a point establish that much capital, you have to be protective of it. I think it's an American ideal to go back to your humble roots because a lot of those times, the roots are dysfunctional and people with a brain see it and flee once they hit 18.
