I liked the mother, good solid performance of a Midwest wife and mother, but you could tell by season two she was day drinking and Xanax popping.

Tori Spelling has always had the face of a middle-aged woman. I remember watching the show and during the opening credits it looks like an older woman is being tossed around by the male cast members. If it wasn't for her father, I doubt she would have ever had a career in television.

Hard to pick a favorite.

Shannen -- Her character annoyed the crap out of me sometimes, but other times I felt bad for her and felt the writers/producers were sabotaging her (in season 4, they almost openly admit how much they hate her.)

Jennie -- She was a homewrecker in the early years and then became kind of sanctimonious and hypocritical in the later seasons. I loved when they let her be bad, like in the drug storyline or any time she interacted with Valerie... i loved their rivalry.

Tori -- I actually think she's extremely underrated as an actress. Donna was just such a sweetheart. Her role was almost nothing in the early seasons, but I loved her relationships with Ray and Joe.

Gabrielle -- Most of the time her character annoyed the crap out of me, and I didn't care about her at all, with very very few exceptions... probably because this is the character I'm most similar to.

You're making me want to rewatch this show again, OP.

DL loves Tori because she is a trainwreck.

I liked Tori the best. She had great chemistry with Brian and seemed the most real of the main characters.

R9 It has all 10 seasons, every episode of the original series and the 2019 reboot with the original cast. It does not include the 90210 series from 2008 that was on CW Network.

This thread should be titled The Girls of Beverly Hills 90210. The Women of Beverly Hills included Tiffany Amber-Theisen, Vanessa Marcil, Hillary Swank, Rebecca Gayhart, Kathleen Robertson (who always had a look on her face like she just farted), plus all the mothers. But my favorite woman of BH90210 was S1-2 Jackie Taylor before she got sober.

They brought psycho Emily Valentine (played by Christine Elise) back for the reboot and she is now a lesbian who gets involved with Andrea Zukerman.

Shannen was a good actress and had charisma to burn. Tiffani was about the best they could have done as a replacement, but the show was still never the same after Shannen was sidelined and then left. I say that knowing she was a nutty bitch.

The rest were meh to terrible. Tori is an ongoing crime against humanity.

Shannen was actually a strong actress in the final episodes of her last season. You could feel her slipping away and the tensions of the cast were informing the characters.

I loved Kelly and Jackie Taylor in the first season especially. Kelly was such a cunt and I loved it. She was cute. Shannon was amazing and when I think of some of the most iconic scenes from 90210, I think if Shannon and Luke. Andrea was always so boring and unattractive. It went downhill after high school.

I have to say I never really missed Shannen, even though I liked her. The show focused on Brenda too much. I didn't think Shannen was that great an actress. (But who was, on that show?) Though I think trying to bring in Shannen substitutes like Valerie was a mistake. I couldn't stand Emily Valentine, btw.

Brenda's evolution from nice Midwestern girl to snobby bitch was perfect. Shannen played it well. Tiffani was great as the bitch with borderline, an evil Kelly Kapowski. The others never were interesting. Tori was boring and Jennie was annoying.

I liked Jennie.

I liked Carol Potter, too. It was weird to see a "housewife" character in a show from that era, though. She didn't even have to stay home to raise the children, they were in high school. I think she got a job, once. Her vibe with Dylan was interesting. Very codependent. But then, everyone's relationship with Dylan was codependent.

Brenda is queen, Kelly is a hoe.

Brenda fucking Dylan right before leaving London and leaving him a horny mess was a queen move. Great exit. I always respected that Brenda was the only one to get out of that clique-y shithole and had other dreams too.

Did any of you watch the 90210 reboot. Jackie returns as a mother to the next generation of West Beverly (Kelly's sister, Erin Silver). She is off the wagon again as an abusive, drunk mother and Mel (David Silver's dad) is an absentee parent with yet another new family, Jackie abuses Erin and she ends up moving in w/ Kelly.

I loved the original show (up to a point, then I just watched it from habit) but I couldn't watch the reboot.

Say what you will about Jennie, but I never felt like she was phoning it in. She knew this show was probably the biggest thing that would ever happen in her career and she gave it her all. I think she's a good dramatic t.v. actress.

Jennie was good as Kelly, she played her as the fake, manipulative and sanctimonious bitch she was. The issue is the show kept portraying Kelly as mature and wise in the later seasons but she was still a bitchy mean girl who even got a Karen haircut.

Well Brenda and Brandon were the main characters. And i do agree that Valerie didn't work as a replacement for Brenda, but she was a good addition to the show. And i love that Emily Valentine had no problem telling Brenda off. I'm not sure why they had her go psycho only to try and spin it as Emily being the love of Brandon's life later on? Maybe it's because Jason and Christine were still dating 🤔

I think they split up in the og because Mel cheated. But then they gave Jackie cancer and killed her off in the reboot. I hate that they had Jackie relapse again.

The only person I liked on that show was Ian Ziering. No he was not handsome. In fact he looked like the daddy (not Zaddy) of the group which was saying a lot since the average age of these high school boys was probably about 45. However I found his nerdy douchebag personality appealing.

The women were all whiney, stuck up bitches. The ones they tried to pass off as "nice" just came off as stupid. In retrospect, that was an awful show.

I liked Ian Ziering, too (he wasn't the only one I liked). Online I've always read things like: he was bad, he couldn't act...actually he was one of the better actors and, as he played it, his character was funny.

R60. YES! Ziering walked around with those tank tops and that big hair and stood out as looking awkward next to the pretty boys, but that was his character and he played it extremely well! He was endearing and normalized the rest of them.

Supposedly Jason Priestly is hung like a horse but Ian Ziering was the only guy on that show that had BDE.

The best thing that happened to Donna's character was being abused by Ray after he wrote that bullshit song about her. Tori and Dean were right cunts to Dean's first wife and tori kept getting pregnant for attention from Dean and the public. Now she's in a big hoarder mess with 5 kids and at least an entire warehouse full of clothes, handbags and other crap with her mother subsidizing her life. She needs therapy over not ever having been pretty

There's something online somewhere (and also in one of the other 90210 threads - and I apologize for not finding it) where one of the writers or producers goes into a lot of backstories. The most interesting one to me was that Ray was supposed to have a redemption arc in the season following the one where he was abusive to Donna. It makes sense, since Jamie Walters was very popular (as a recording artist and concert star, also). But apparently Aaron Spelling couldn't stand seeing Jamie being abusive to Tori so he wanted him off the show. So the kid only got to be seen as as asshole - when those epiodes were just supposed to be the buildup to his redemption. Anyhow that was how Tori inadvertently wrecked Jamie Walters' burgeoning career.

I loved how mean they were to Kelly. She had everything bad happen to her, and she just kept going in a Shelly Winters in her glory days way.

Jamie Waters was in a failed BH9 spin-off called The Heights.

R74 well I could - could never get past those Aaron Spelling bug eyes and that weird jaw. She looked the most “normal” during Shannen’s last season (her hair was long and they did a better job making it look naturally straight), and I thought mayyybe there was a touch of hope then, but alas it wasn’t meant to be. Tori would have been much better looking with a more natural and less surgical look. Her natural hair color was dark brown. The platinum blond hair with the fake black eyelashes made her look like a cow in a wig. And those huge deformed tits on her skeletal frame made her look like a birth defect.

Tori. Not on the show, but overall in life. She turned out to be a messy messmess but she did fun turns in Trick and House of Yes. I think she has real comedic talent, and she's memorable in all her roles from Saved by the Bell to 90210 or trick. Nepotism, yes, of course, but she has good onscreen charisma and comic timing.
