Got hooked on this Apple TV show with such a weird premise, and Tramell Tillman has a smoking hot bubble butt encased in high waisted form fitting pants. It looks like two cats fighting in a paper bag when he walks, so distracting!
Does it ever get good? I stalled after #3.

This show is PHENOMENAL - I just finished the season (why only 9 episodes?!). John Turturro in particular is a knockout, but Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, and Tramell Tillman as Milcheck are all fantastic. I was a bit bored after 3-4 episodes, but soon after, the show takes a real turn and I couldn’t look away from the last 4. Once Christopher Walken’s character enters, things get great.
Do yourselves a favor and watch this.

Walken is in the first or second episode. I will try to press on through episode 4.

I don’t want to “press on” through a goddamned show. It’s enough pressing on through the daily tedium of life. One shouldn’t have to endure television like laundry. It’s called entertainment for a reason—fucking entertain me!

If it has a rumored pay off, I will. I enjoy tedious television if it tells a compelling story eventually.

I started it Friday, and finished it today. It really builds up steam, and that was one of the best season finales I’ve seen in a long time.
Adam Scott seems to be turning into Tig Notaro.
And Milchik and Petey are hot.

So, I already know my husband wouldn’t “get it” and don’t want to give anything away for anyone but if you’ve ever worked in a domineering environment, I have- and it’s interesting to see how people cope differently with overbearing bosses, forming unlikely relationships with each other and how much they will actually tolerate.
Patricia Arquette creates a domineering Cruella character that is so bizarre yet campy- I love how a high powered exec drives a VW Rabbit and her platinum hair is yellowing at the bottom, like she doesn’t give a flying fuck.
There’s an alternate, retro “Cassette Futurism” vibe (look up the FB page) that they deliberately foster throughout the show rather than seeing brands, technology or modern devices from our era.
Definitely not laundry, they do take some time developing the characters.

Adam Scott tries too hard to be funny and he just isn’t.

From the 1st 15 mins. this should’ve been called TIRESOME.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 9, 2022 3:52 PM |
It seems like it should be good, looks and acts prestige-y, but I found the first three episodes boring and stopped.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 9, 2022 4:06 PM |
I like Adam Scott but he’s not a compelling enough actor to carry a series.

I keep waiting for Laura Dern’s character from Enlightened to enter.

It is the worst show to me. I could not get through the first ep. It seems like a cartoon, and yet...it isn't.

I don’t get the character of Helle. So her outie has some compelling reason for contracting employment with Lumen, she wakes up with no idea who she is and yet once severed what remains of her personality is complete rebellion - so why would this person contract with Lumen in the first place? Where does all this rebellion come from? Just seems like a poorly thought out writer’s construct.

Terrible show. Avoid.

I’ve been sceptical throughout this thread the last day but having just finished watching it, I’m going to say: possibly the best S1 finale ever. It definitely delivers.
I was concerned throughout that it was just stylised ambiguity but the S1 finale actually delivers. Sure, it’s all a mish-mash of Orwell and Get Out but I did really enjoy the final episode. I wish they’d gotten there earlier in the season or that there was an episode 10. For now though, I’ll just have to make like an outie and pretend I never saw it. :)

The last episode explains Hellie's outie persona and why she had herself severed. Hellie and Irving seem to be the most interesting characters as there are major disconnects between their innies and outies. I like the optimistic idea that people will always be full humans no matter what circumstances they find themselves in.

I'm enjoying the series. I like dystopian sci-fi even if it isn't about a war-scarred post-apocalyptic world, and I disagree that Adam Scott can't carry a series. Thanks for the recommendation.

Just finished episode one and it seems basically to be Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind set at work. It’s hard to watch with lead’s harrowed unattractive face and flat acting, which I don’t know if it’s the actor or the character.

The guy who played Petey was cute. At first I thought it was Nathan Petrelli from Heroes, but it isn’t. I would’ve liked Petey to have been in more episodes. He was a likable smart ass.
Burt and Irving’s romance was my favorite of the year. Adorable.

[quote] This show is PHENOMENAL
I just finished it and I agree 1000% It’s the most original, funny, and genuinely frightening show I’ve seen in a long, long time.
The best thing about it is the way it builds to a breathtaking climax. Which is what a season of a show should do, but they almost never do anymore.

I loved this show, from the beginning to the last episode of the season. It's a shame you guys didn't appreciate it.

I'm too distracted by Adam Scott's tiny baby mouth. He's just a weird looking guy and I don't enjoy looking at his face.

R25 Cool. I ordinarily hate Grammar trolls, but it IS the subjunctive case you really need.in this case. i.e. If I were a drag queen....
I'm kind of thoughtful grunge myself, or at least try to be thoughtful, so hope I haven't offended you by pointing that out. We can be grunge, and still speak well.
