What happened to Little Caesars Pizza?
by Anonymous | reply 88 | April 13, 2022 12:20 PM |
There used to be a Little Caesars truck that would drive around selling pizza. Like the ice cream man.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | April 10, 2022 6:25 PM |
Their pizza always sucked ass. The only difference has been in the slight increase in quality among the other chains.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 10, 2022 6:33 PM |
They partnered up with Kmart and focused on that. Then, Kmart had its downfall. Little Caesars could probably revive its business, maybe make frozen pizzas. IIRC, they'd give you an extra container of the tomato sauce, which I liked. I like simple pizzas, just pepperoni and cheese.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 10, 2022 6:35 PM |
I pity people who live outside the northeast US and can't get decent pizza. Especially Chicago.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 10, 2022 6:37 PM |
Little Caesar’s is ghetto
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 10, 2022 6:44 PM |
Chicago pizza is better than NY hands down.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 10, 2022 6:54 PM |
I actually got their Italian Crazy Bread with their Crazy sauce a few months ago and really liked it. I hadn't had anything from them in years. I'd get it again. I don't think I'd get any of their pizzas, though. They don't look right.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 10, 2022 6:56 PM |
[quote] They don't look right.
In what ways?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 10, 2022 6:58 PM |
R8, something about them looks cheap and bargain basement to me, like they're just a step above the pizza my middle school served.

Thank you, The Vulture at R9.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 10, 2022 7:01 PM |
You pity Chicago, R4???
The deep dish and stuffed pizza crap is what tourists eat. There are great local pizza shops all over the city.
Honey, you sound like someone who has never been outside of your elitist little bubble. Get out more, bitch!
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 10, 2022 7:13 PM |
Well, it was cheap ($5 or so) and sold at Kmart, so I think you have to dial your expectations accordingly.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 10, 2022 7:25 PM |
Kroger heat 'n' eat in-store pizzas are better that Little Caesar's, and that's pitiful.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 10, 2022 7:29 PM |
Little Caesars pizza is fine if you have six dollars to spend on pizza. It's pizza. Hard to mess that up.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 10, 2022 7:33 PM |
Deep dish is gross. Fat Whore appetizer.
Boston Pizza should get more love. There's actually a lot of good pies in beantown. Yes, I'm serious.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 12, 2022 4:17 AM |
Pies.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 12, 2022 4:18 AM |

There's profit to be had in poor fat whores who are either too lazy or too time-constrained to cook.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 12, 2022 4:41 AM |
Believe it or not, it used to be really good back in the 80’s and 90’s. I’m not sure what happened, but it tastes like total shit now. I think it might have something to do with the cheese (poor quality and not enough).
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 12, 2022 4:42 AM |
No, R19. Your tastes have simply advanced since then.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 12, 2022 4:47 AM |
I worked for a company that liked to reward us with this shit. It’s the cheapest, crappiest pizza you can buy and we were supposed to act all grateful and excited when they would bring it in. They didn’t even buy enough for everyone to get a piece. Cheap fuckers.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 12, 2022 4:52 AM |
Costco pizza is also cheap and not good. You’re not fooling anyone “treating” them to Costco pizza.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 12, 2022 4:55 AM |
It's good if you are low on funds. If you order online you can get a pepperoni pizza, stuffed crazy bread, and a 2 liter soda for $10.46
by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 12, 2022 4:58 AM |
^^^ I picked it up Friday night and I had leftovers I ate Saturday so 2 meals for $10.46 is pretty good.
Of course it is not high end pizza, but it's good for what it is.
If I had to choose my favorite pizza it would be the mom and pop place pizza place I normally go to. But Little Sleazer's once in awhile is fine with me.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 12, 2022 5:01 AM |
OP's question is embarrassing! One would never ask DL about pizza that wasn't authentically authentic and tasteful. I'm beside myself.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 12, 2022 5:02 AM |
For shitty, chain pizza, I would absolutely choose Little Ceasar's over Dominoes or Pizza Hut. As long as it's relatively fresh (ask to look at it or say you'll wait while they make one for you, or order before you go). Of course it's not great, but we're talking in the context of not great pizza. And it's cheap. Tip: IMO it's not reheatable or really that edible the next day. It just doesn't reheat well and gets hard and dry if you try to eat it cold and spongy and rubbery if you do reheat it.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 12, 2022 5:04 AM |
Didn't the slogan used to be "Pizza Pizza" because you could buy TWO pizzas for 5 dollars?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 12, 2022 5:06 AM |
r26 we visited my brother and wanted to get pizza for everybody and they chose Pizza Hut. It was expensive and awful, I would rather have Little Caesar's. The Pizza Hut dough felt like it wasn't cooked enough and the sauce was nasty and the cheese had an odd flavor and texture. As a kid in the 70's and 80's it used to be a treat to go to Pizza Hut.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 12, 2022 5:07 AM |
R28 Yep, Pizza Hut is another place that fucked up their recipe. It’s just plain and greasy.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 12, 2022 5:08 AM |
I didn't refrigerate the LC pizza, I put it in a ziploc and ate it room temperature the next day. My mom used to say I had a "cast iron" stomach because I can eat anything and not get sick so I know I shouldn't recommend that to others.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | April 12, 2022 5:10 AM |
R19 is correct, it was better in the 80s-90s, they used to put cornmeal at the bottom of the pizza and use less oil, and it made it taste better. Pizza Hut pizza is vile, they started using frozen crust back in the late 90s early 00s.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | April 12, 2022 5:15 AM |
R32, you Ebay fat.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 12, 2022 5:27 AM |
I went to a KMart once, high as fuck, to buy squirt guns and a pack of Uno. I saw this lady that was so fucking fat she looked like x2 Chrissy Metz as conjoined twins. She was walking out of a K-Mart with x2 Pizza-Pizzas.
I pointed at her to my friends and said "look - one for now - and ONE FOR NOW" and we bent over laughing. She heard us. I felt bad. But she still took both pizzas to her small Gremlin type car. That poor vehicle nearly flipped over when she got inside from the weight.

by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 12, 2022 5:50 AM |
I don't know if anything "happened". I remember eating Little Caesar's in the 90s and thinking it tasted like cheap crap. They've always been a cheap, bare minimum pizza place.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | April 12, 2022 5:54 AM |
Domino's is the only one of the cheap national pizza brands that has improved over time. Their recipe and menu revamp about 10 or 15 years ago was actually successful at pulling them out of the absolute bottom of the bunch. It's still not as good as a local pizzeria, but it's serviceable at least. I've never had much Little Caesar's, but they've always seemed about the same level of bad over time to me. PIzza Hut has definitely plummeted in quality over the last few decades.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | April 12, 2022 6:09 AM |
I like their cheap 5$ pizzas. Domino’s does way too much virtue signaling and I don’t know why they advertise so much. I thought they were way ahead of these other guys. Now I just thought of all the chains delivering that didn’t before so I guess they should be advertising.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | April 12, 2022 6:15 AM |
R22, I agree that Costco pizza is vile.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | April 12, 2022 6:17 AM |
Didn’t they practically invent BOGO with their “pizza pizza” shtick? It tastes like cardboard. Round Table only!
by Anonymous | reply 42 | April 12, 2022 6:17 AM |
Trader Joe's sells good frozen pizza.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | April 12, 2022 6:18 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 44 | April 12, 2022 6:22 AM |
Is Papa John's national or regional? I like their crust the best - and I guess overall (for a chain).
But their CEO is/was such an asshole. Somebody told me he stepped down so I just tell myself that -- he was dead-set against raising the minimum wage and he was Trumpster or something vile.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | April 12, 2022 6:36 AM |
R46 It’s national and yes they got rid of that asshole. So it’s OK to eat again.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | April 12, 2022 7:16 AM |
I thought Domino's was the pizza with the asshole on all the commercials.

by Anonymous | reply 49 | April 12, 2022 5:33 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 50 | April 12, 2022 8:36 PM |
The independent local pizzerias are the way to go. When all else fails, Domino's is not terrible, and they have some decent specials. Stay away from their sandwiches though - they suck!
by Anonymous | reply 51 | April 12, 2022 9:21 PM |
In the early 90s, my former boyfriend's mother used to get two of their pizzas for an informal Sunday dinner for us and his brother, which we would eat in her breakfast room. The pizza was okay and it's a good memory of that relationship.
I've sometimes wished that I could get Little Caesar's pizza these days.

by Anonymous | reply 58 | April 12, 2022 9:50 PM |
r46, I agree with you about Papa John's crust. It' the best out of the big 3 (Pizza Hut, Dominos, Papa). I like Pizza Hut's pizza the best but the crust has always SUCKED. Dominos is a happy medium because Papa John's seems to charge gourmet prices now, while Dominos maintains the 2 for $15 type of price range deals that have made pizza delivery an affordable trashy weekend dinner.
Ideally, I could have Pizza Hut Pizza, on Papa John's dough, with Domino's pricing and availability.
Little Caesars is shit. Will fill you up if hungry but is the worst of the bunch. And don't you dare let it get cold before you dig in because it doesn't not take well to reheating. Had much better pizza at Sam's, Costco's, hell even Target.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | April 12, 2022 10:23 PM |
r55 frozen pizzas are for days I don’t want to go out or even see a delivery person.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | April 12, 2022 10:50 PM |
i tried the pizza again. Flavorless. Dominos is much better. With the app or an account, you can get a large pizza to go at dominos for $7.99. or two items like a medium pizza and chicken parmesean sandwich for $13 total if you pick up. Then they are giving a $3 coupon to use in the next week. This only works if you pick up the order yourself--if you have it delivered, add on an extra $8.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | April 13, 2022 12:11 AM |
I worked at Little Caesars when I was in college and at least in the location I was working, the management was good. Everything was frozen back then and I doubt it's changed. It's not bad for chain pizza.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | April 13, 2022 12:17 AM |
Dominoes is awful. I mean, they're all some form of awful or not-good, but Dominoes is especially ugh.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | April 13, 2022 12:21 AM |
If anyone wants good chain pizza, do you have a Marco's?
by Anonymous | reply 64 | April 13, 2022 12:24 AM |
Papa John's is way too sweet. The crust is sweet, the sauce is sweet. Blech. I realize it's all relative and none of this is health food, but I prefer less sweet pizza - even from the big chains. But I can see sweetness being "flavor" to some people - like if it's not sweet, then to them the pizza has no flavor.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | April 13, 2022 12:24 AM |
Marco's is okay IMO.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | April 13, 2022 12:25 AM |
"Since Little Ceasers sales hot readymade pizzas of better quality why are frozen pizzas still a thing?"
1. Because not everyone thinks that.
2. Because you can store frozen pizza and have it on hand without having to get delivery or go out and get it.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | April 13, 2022 12:27 AM |
Damn people are lazy. I'd rather drive five minutes and get a fresh Little Caesars than to eat a frozen one. Even when I'm high as shit. Also, I wish LC would bring back the cinnamon crazy bread. That shit was the BEST pizza place dessert I've had other than Godfather's dessert pizza.

This was everyone's complaint about Numero Uno pizzas back in the 90s. I wonder if Papa John's uses the same "recipe."

LC is still a legit "rival" to Pizza Hut and Dominoes. Not a rival for the top spot, as they're third in stores and income. But they're big part of the market and obviously take business away from the top two.

We used to get the Little Caesars pizza pizza as a kid in the 80s. It was a treat on a Friday night. It tasted great to me but my taste buds have changed since then like someone else has said. When I discovered better mom and pop pizza I stopped eating the crap from LC, PH, and Dominoes. I don’t think I’ve eaten pizza from the cheap companies in 30 years. The only thing I like from Little Caesars is their crazy bread. It’s delicious! Unfortunately, I don’t have a Little Caesars near by.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | April 13, 2022 1:24 AM |
My family ran a road trip from the Midwest to Disneyland back in the early 80s. When we got to California, my mom was eager to try a Little Caesar's that was near our hotel because she had heard how great they were. I do remember that when we got there, the setting was more of a fun, urban restaurant atmosphere than I would have guessed. Ultimately, though, the pizza was not that good, and we all thought we were better off going to the Pizza Hut back home.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | April 13, 2022 1:38 AM |
R79 I’m surprised the Little Caesar’s you went to has a place to sit down and eat. Even in the 80’s and 90’s the restaurants were carry out only in my town.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | April 13, 2022 1:42 AM |
This one was on the outskirts of Disneyland, so I would guess it was more tourist-oriented than the average. There was a jukebox, video games, and even a comic book rack in the lobby.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | April 13, 2022 3:20 AM |
R81 Yeah even low cost chains tend to put a little extra work into their tourist area ones. I remember thinking it was amazing when I went to a two-story KFC in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
