I think she plays her part very well.

I agree; she was very good in Derry Girls. I kind of like the "less than gorgeous wall flower is more of an operator than everyone thinks" story. She's the "Lexi" of Bridgerton (but a better actress)

What's so hard about understanding her body? She's a big girl (but in a good way, unlike you, OP).

She’s a hoot in Derry Girls, and she made a great podcast comedy called Whistling Through The Shamrocks, which mocks all the UK/Irish stereotypes.

I've never seen Bridgerton but love her in Derry Girls and she was a great guest judge on RPDR UK last season. I don't think she's a Little Person, just short and fat.

I just finished watching season two and I’m glad that Penelope is suffering. It was especially satisfying to see her overhear Colin saying he would never court something like her, of course. The physical appearance of the character (and the actress) is disgusting. A short, fat monster like that is more animal than human. I wish they would kill off the character so I don’t have to see the beast anymore.

To be honest, I like her character way more than most of the Bridgertons, especially Eloise. I dread the season that will have her as main focus. It will be like Austen's Emma on bath salts.

I mean, Penelope is basically a Patron Saint of Datalounge. Shy wallflower in real life, shady, snarky bitch when wielding a pen while wearing caftans and earrings.

Eloise is such a mouthy smug cunt whose posture is awful, she actually stoops while she’s walking. Can’t the actress at least stand up straight?

I like Penelope but Regency-style dresses are a disaster for her figure. A slim woman but with big boobs would look heavyset in those dresses as well. Ianyway, I would love Penelope to become an evil bitch and stop all the boo hooing over shallow Colin.

She's 35 and her most (only) famous 3 roles are playing teenagers. She was also in Harlots with Lesley Manville and Samantha Morton but I can't remember her in it.

Coughlan is a very good actress and I can see her in a Kirsten Wiig type comedy. It seems strange that she hasn't been cast in anything other than Derry Girls after the first series of Bridgeton aired. She'd be quite effective in crime drama or a domestic drama or a literary adaptation playing her own age.

She was VERY vocal on social media taking an absolute TERFS ARE SCUM stance but seems to have quietened down now.

Pen is one of my favorite characters on the show.

Also, please let me be clear in saying the show SUCKS, but in a guilty pleasure way, hence I love watching it ESPECIALLY because I hate it so much.

R20, I believe her big breakthrough stage role was in a play about a chubby middle class teen wallflower from London who develops an unlikely friendship with a lonely working class farm boy during her summer holidays - and a major plot point is that the farm boy turns out to FTM trans (though I believe the part was played by a cis male actor, which I don’t think would fly these days) - probably goes to explain why it’s a cause she feels strongly about.
