He was great in Moulin Rouge. I've liked him since Next to Normal. Truly great male voices combined with a good face and bod is very rare on Broadway. Billy Porter and Neil Patrick Harris don't compare.

I would have been more impressed if he had performed something from “Results.”

His replacement in Moulin Rouge is hotter.

My sense is that he's mostly straight judging by the basic-ness that comes across in interviews (including his passion for golf). But no doubt he's fucked some guys over the years.

If he’s going to do it he should at least do it well.

His shoulders are too stiff and hunched up in the on-the-chair poses, but then he strangely goes flouncy and limp in the moves around the stage. It lacks the sharpness and precision that Fosse would have beaten into him. And the whole leg drop schtick screams Robert Preston in Victor/Victoria. It’s like he’s halfway taking the piss because he’s reluctant to fully commit to the performance, either afraid to be see as truly homoerotic or gender-fluid.

LOL, give the kid a break. He made a credible stab at all the Fosse moves, probably on very little rehearsal time, sang well, camped it up enthusiastically, and gyrated his cute butt which is all most of us cared about anyway. We're really expecting him to do it better than Liza?

R33 Jonathan Groff would have rehearsed for month prior and brought on his own back up dancers.

I am hoping most of the snark in this thread is from people in on the joke, that Miscast is an event that showcases Broadways stars performing songs from roles in which they would not traditionally be cast. It's fun. Aaron did a great job. And I loved when Groff did "Anything Goes" as part of his Miscast.
