Netflix and Sony cancel Will Smith projects

He's cancelled.

(didn't search, didn't link so have at me.)

by Anonymousreply 183April 20, 2022 12:03 AM

FUCK. YES.

Now this is what I'm talking about.

I hope this is the beginning of the end, for Will fucking Smith.

by Anonymousreply 1April 3, 2022 4:16 AM

He deserves this and more.

I still think he should have been arrested and denied winning the Oscar.

by Anonymousreply 2April 3, 2022 4:17 AM

Good start, more to go.

I’m crossing everything that Apple TV shelves Emancipation, which is already in post-production.

by Anonymousreply 3April 3, 2022 4:18 AM

Will Smith deserves to have his career destroyed because of this.

He and that cunt wife of his should have everything taken away from them.

by Anonymousreply 4April 3, 2022 4:21 AM

Fast and Loose was already mostly dead, the director bolted a while ago. We'll have to see what happens with Bad Boys 4, though.

by Anonymousreply 5April 3, 2022 4:23 AM

I don’t think they’re canceled, but rather postponed until the dust settles.

by Anonymousreply 6April 3, 2022 4:23 AM

The dust will never settle. Smith will always be known for the slap.

by Anonymousreply 7April 3, 2022 4:24 AM

This has nothing to do with a demand that a black man be responsible for his behavior and actions and everything to do with not wanting to lose hundreds of millions and more on an unbankable actor. Netflix and Sony have "halted development", "shelved", "paused", "placed on hold" their projects with Smith. All of which can be brought forward and continued should Netflix and Sony again consider Smith within the realm of bankable.

by Anonymousreply 8April 3, 2022 4:39 AM

R3, they could CGI Chris Rock's face on top of Will's.

by Anonymousreply 9April 3, 2022 4:47 AM

I agree R8. They're doing this to protect themselves, not out of disgust for Smith's antics.

by Anonymousreply 10April 3, 2022 4:48 AM

Stripping him from his Oscar is the most appropriate punishment for what he did. But this will Never happen, because they are afraid of being accused of racism and the backlash that will follow.

by Anonymousreply 11April 3, 2022 4:48 AM

How will they afford the maintenance on their sprawling estate Willowjade* if rhe mobey stops flowing? Maybe Jada can do "Set It Off 2: Break Tha Bank"?

by Anonymousreply 12April 3, 2022 4:49 AM

weird. i think he should have been arrested and i would still see his movies. Apple is not junking a $120 mil movie thats finished because of a slap. They may delay releasing it this year. The other movies were kind of paycheck movies anyway, so CAA will let things calm down for a few months while they find some more reasonably priced projects for him.

by Anonymousreply 13April 3, 2022 4:49 AM

I think he’s over. Even if he does a rehabilitation tour, he will always be known for his violent outburst and ruining the Oscars. His only excuse seems to be his wife’s “medical condition,” which no one is buying. The weak joke did not merit the crime..

by Anonymousreply 14April 3, 2022 4:54 AM

He's done unless he's working for Tyler Perry. This will never be forgotten. It's buried in everyone's psyche.

by Anonymousreply 15April 3, 2022 5:03 AM

Only movies that black people will see. His crossover appeal is over for life.

by Anonymousreply 16April 3, 2022 5:05 AM

This is a shame. Will Smith could have handled this with some decorum after his outburst. Left the event, then apologise. Its about what happened after. He is a frustrating person, a symbol of the decay of 'lifestyles of the rich and famous'. Maybe he can star as himself as one of the real Househusbands of Calabasas next time?

by Anonymousreply 17April 3, 2022 5:17 AM

Jada had a Netflix show coming up too.

And Will had a Comedy/variety show.

Looks like it's time for Jaden and Willow to step up and use their massive talents to make some mortgage and property tax money...

by Anonymousreply 19April 3, 2022 5:24 AM

It was a stunning self-destructive act. Just think if he would have just kept his mouth shut, he would be celebrated all week from one side of the country to the other. He would always be known as academy award winner Will Smithe and probably would have a career for several more years as a really established actor with some decent roles. Absolute insanity.

by Anonymousreply 20April 3, 2022 5:24 AM

^^^Smith.

by Anonymousreply 24April 3, 2022 5:31 AM

In his 50’s and forever tarnished, what can he do? Mel Gibson never came back. Tom Cruise is also at the end of his run, since he is pushing 60,

by Anonymousreply 25April 3, 2022 5:31 AM

I’m in the minority I guess in that I don’t think his career is over. People have short memories.

by Anonymousreply 26April 3, 2022 5:32 AM

Aren’t those just bots paid for by Will and Jada. It won’t help him.

by Anonymousreply 27April 3, 2022 5:33 AM

It's over. People aren't forgetting this. Ever.

by Anonymousreply 28April 3, 2022 5:34 AM

I could see his hardcore fans gong to a Bad Boys film, but with a much smaller audience.

by Anonymousreply 29April 3, 2022 5:35 AM

"Just think if he would have just kept his mouth shut"

Or gone up there, put his arm around Rock and talked sternly yet empathetically to him- and the world- about the power of words. As if Mr. Brady was explaining civility to Bobby?

by Anonymousreply 30April 3, 2022 5:36 AM

The comments on this post are mainly deluded with a sensible one sprinkled in. These projects are delayed and Smith will be back. This won’t boost his career but it certainly won’t diminish it. Related, I’m usually not too invested in characterizing DL as racist against black people but this…this has brought out the worst of the board.

by Anonymousreply 31April 3, 2022 5:37 AM

by Anonymousreply 34April 3, 2022 5:42 AM

Maybe he could start with judging on The Voice, And then take a seat at The View. Then work at Costco. Baby steps.

by Anonymousreply 35April 3, 2022 5:52 AM

[quote] This won’t boost his career but it certainly won’t diminish it.

The test is coming up. "Undiminished" Will Smith should have a hit on his hands with Apple's "Emancipation" this year or next, and that in turn should fuel the resurrection of the other projects that were just put on hold. If he's undiminished.

Really, I think the slap will only make worse his other unforgiveable problem: his aging to the threshold of Senior Citizenship.

by Anonymousreply 36April 3, 2022 6:01 AM

I'm looking on the bright side. Chris Rock's career has been revitalized. He's pulling in sell-out crowds, tickets to his shows are going for insane prices from scalpers, and I've no doubt a new comedy special deal is in the works with his asking price zooming up like a rocket. I hope the public pushes hard to reward a prominent black comedian who demonstrated composure and professionalism, as well as sensitivity and generosity by apologizing to the show's hosts for an event he had no control of overshadowing their performances.

by Anonymousreply 37April 3, 2022 6:03 AM

He and Jada will blame this on his race or his age but everyone will know it's because he showed his ass.

by Anonymousreply 38April 3, 2022 6:03 AM

R34 pretends to be stupid. Like all racist hypocrites.

by Anonymousreply 39April 3, 2022 6:04 AM

He can take his pile of money and fuck off.

by Anonymousreply 40April 3, 2022 6:05 AM

Ok. I've been really critical of Will. But tonight out at dinner someone insulted me in a very cunty way, and I was SO mad. I didn't do anything, just froze the cunt out, but for a minute I thought, I wonder if this is how Will felt? Granted, I'd had drinks, but it would have taken a lot to get me to charge up on stage before millions of people and lose it. Still, suddenly I sympathized....

by Anonymousreply 41April 3, 2022 6:06 AM

Jada Pigment Smith can spend the rest of her life reflecting on all this. And owning how her #oscarssowhite routine was racist.

by Anonymousreply 42April 3, 2022 6:06 AM

[quote] Will smith defenders are trying to cancel Brad because celebs gave him a standing ovation at the golden globes after he abused his kid on the plane.

Brad Pitt did not abuse his son or anyone. After thorough investigations, both the FBI and Child Protective Services cleared him. Had he abused anyone he'd have been arrested. The FBI does not play when it comes to domestic violence and in fact they have a mandate to press charges if facts support it.. Neither does CPS.

I guarantee those are Angelina Jolie crazy stans who cannot stop trying to smear Brad on Twitter and wherever else they flock. They hate it that he won that Oscar and that he is still beloved with successful movies. They must be freaking out over the public reaction to his part in the Sandra Bullock film.

Smith is estimated to be worth a few hundred mil. Of course those estimates are usually whacky. That's a lot but I have no idea how much they piss away or how well they have invested. You gotta figure that Jada uses it to spread around her largesse to advance herself.

by Anonymousreply 43April 3, 2022 6:15 AM

It appears our open marriage emotional exhibitionist is playing the religion card, if comments by friends like Denzel Wahington and Tyker Perry are to be believed. I see Kirk Cameron directed CBN channel exclusive "blockbusters" in Will Smith's future.

by Anonymousreply 44April 3, 2022 6:19 AM

People here really underestimate how short attention spans are nowadays. In a few months, people will completely forget. People have already moved on in fact.

by Anonymousreply 51April 3, 2022 8:22 AM

SNL mentioned it multiple times.

by Anonymousreply 52April 3, 2022 8:28 AM

[quote] Only movies that black people will see. His crossover appeal is over for life.

Most young white people don't care. His audience is mostly straight white men who sided with his macho behavior. So his crossover appeal is not over.

by Anonymousreply 53April 3, 2022 8:28 AM

R52 ok and it will stop being in the news eventually. The newscycle will drop all mention once another stupid celebrity acts out for attention. He isn't over. He's extremely marketable, filthy rich and still looks decent for his age. He'll get another chance. I'm just being realistic. People under a certain age do not watch 24/7 news and didn't even watch the Oscars. The news media does not reflect people's opinions. The media tries to force an opinion on people. Majority of people don't care about this.

by Anonymousreply 54April 3, 2022 8:33 AM

It will always be what he is most remembered for........slapping Chris Rock.

by Anonymousreply 55April 3, 2022 8:39 AM

Mel Gibson never came back and he didn't slap anyone. Smith's career is over. No one will ever not remember it. Bill Maher was right the other night when he said that only once in a while the whole country was paying attention to the same thing. That rarely happens.

by Anonymousreply 56April 3, 2022 8:47 AM

[quote] People here really underestimate how short attention spans are nowadays. In a few months, people will completely forget. People have already moved on in fact.

That's what you think.

Every year, there will be an Oscar's ceremony.

And every year, we will all be reminded of Will Smith slapping Chris Rock on the stage where all future Oscar winners will receive their awards.

We will constantly be reminded, like a birthday or an anniversary.

Personally, I'm happy about that. I never want this asshole to forget what he did.

by Anonymousreply 57April 3, 2022 8:48 AM

That's not even remotely true r53.

by Anonymousreply 58April 3, 2022 8:48 AM

[quote] The test is coming up. "Undiminished" Will Smith should have a hit on his hands with Apple's "Emancipation" this year or next

A hit? Granted Apple has poured a ridiculous amount of money into Emancipation but a slavery drama starring 53 year old Smith with no other stars directed by Anton Fuqua? Where’s the appeal? You think the nostalgic dudebros who turned out for Bad Boys want to watch a historical drama?

He was trying to pull off back to back Oscars aka Tom Hanks, that was always his team’s strategy with these two movies. Thankfully now that’s never going to happen.

by Anonymousreply 59April 3, 2022 9:13 AM

R56, Mel Gibson kinda did came back in 2016 and his film Hacksaw Ridge that he directed had 6 academy award nominations.

by Anonymousreply 60April 3, 2022 9:46 AM

I don’t think Will should have lost his Oscar. With the messy people who still have their Oscars it just doesn’t make much sense to take back Will’s. Even having him arrested at the Oscars would have been a bizarre look given how we treat celebrities differently from normal people. Will has tainted his award so badly he might as well not won it anyway.

I am glad there is at least some fall out however temporary though.

by Anonymousreply 61April 3, 2022 9:46 AM

[quote]I don’t think they’re canceled, but rather postponed until the dust settles.

Completely agreed; they're probably watching to see if this situation gets worse (more stories of physically abusive behavior, substance abuse problems, etc.) versus if Smith does some minimal apology tour or somehow manage to redeem himself.

by Anonymousreply 66April 3, 2022 10:38 AM

The news cycle passes so quickly these days. It’ll be old news before Will deserves it to be.

by Anonymousreply 67April 3, 2022 10:43 AM

This is different from what Mel Gibson did because his horrible actions were filmed and in front of a worldwide audience. We just get stories about Mel and his horrible behavior but Will's faux pas will remain forever on YouTube. It's become a meme, a joke.

He might as well never show his face again. He will continue to produce shows. As far as Jada, she is finished too. She has that Facebook show but who watches that? I'm not on FB.

I would have been better had he been taken off the Oscars and arrested right then and there. At least there would be justice and we could move on. There was just something so wrong about him remaining in his seat, getting an award and a standing ovation.

by Anonymousreply 68April 3, 2022 10:44 AM

He should take up music again. The Grammy will welcome him.

by Anonymousreply 69April 3, 2022 10:50 AM

by Anonymousreply 70April 3, 2022 11:04 AM

[quote]Will smith defenders are trying to cancel Brad because celebs gave him a standing ovation at the golden globes after he abused his kid on the plane.

....in 2016. Allegedly, because whatever was happening in that jet wasn't beaming all over the world for us to see with our own eyes.

Will Smith defenders are eager to make the conversation about anyone else. Brad Pitt, Zoe Kravitz, Jim Carrey, Pedro Almodóvar, Adrien Brody, Roman Polanski...they're just throwing it all at the wall and desperately hoping something sticks. But the negative Will Smith news keeps coming. I wouldn't be surprised at this point if CAA drops him.

by Anonymousreply 71April 3, 2022 11:17 AM

The Slap is already a meme that won't die. It'll keep coming up any time a celeb loses it publicly.

I heard a YouTube chef tell people (when flatting a pork cutlet) to slap the meat like it was Chris Rock.

by Anonymousreply 73April 3, 2022 11:27 AM

Mel Gibson has a new movie with Marky Mark.

by Anonymousreply 74April 3, 2022 11:31 AM

Mel Gibson is behaving just as weird as he looks. The way he pussy footed out of the question. Pathetic. He couldn't say anything? He couldn't even say 'no comment'. He just made a silent laugh and ugly face and had a woman speak for him. So pathetic. What kind of "men" are these? My gosh. Hollywood is just full of sissies. And everyone saying this will be forgotten, just sit back and watch. I know it's hard for you to understand but eventually you'll see. It's going NOWHERE. It's here for ALL eternity. This world and the great beyond. Even when the news moves on, this never will. It's frozen in time. The most absurd thing done to another human in the history of a MAJOR 94 year old broadcast just won't be forgotten. Especially with all the clips and memes to be played for the rest of time. You don't think this will be referenced by people next year around Oscar time? Lmao. That's a whole year from now . Also, you're not realizing that the younger generation have no attachment to the squeaky clean image like you old farts do. He will now be known as the old black actor who slapped someone on TV and then behaved like a total nut job. Haha. It'll be there in every article, Wikipedia, his Obituary, on YouTube, everywhere. You stupid motherfuckers with a downright unnatural nostalgic adoration for some trash box need to get a grip on reality. Haha. It's over and only going to get worse for him. He doesn't have the words nor the intellectual or spiritual awareness to handle this situation. He can only say what others tell him. Look at Denzel feeding him what to say. Jada tells him when to sit and when to jump. That's why he was such a successful actor. A desperate fool who can be told what to do. He can't think for himself. He's a lost little boy who people will always call bullshit now on his crocodile tears. He will never be back to the Academy in any way, shape, or form. Keep the Oscar. It'll remind him EVERYDAY. haha. I love it.

by Anonymousreply 75April 3, 2022 12:12 PM

Mel gibson was the butt of Ricky Gervaris very brutal and frank jokes at the Golden Globes a few years ago and Mel took it like a man.

by Anonymousreply 77April 3, 2022 12:37 PM

by Anonymousreply 78April 3, 2022 12:40 PM

You all are deluded, lack self-awareness and are using this terrible public faux pas as an outlet for your own rage about something else. I don't like what Will did any more than anyone else did. It was horrible. But for fuck's sake. Give the guy a little bit of grace. Chris Rock is doing so. Will Smith showed his ass on international live television, doing a deplorable thing. But he didn't fucking kill anyone. And I'd be willing to bet each and every one of us has done something just as awful as he has.

by Anonymousreply 94April 3, 2022 2:21 PM

R45, many heavy hitters in Hollywood have probably invested a lot in his films. He also has a giant PR staff that are out of big bucks if Will Smith goes away. Don’t be surprised if those positive comments aren’t the result of bots trying to change the narrative. I’m sure they are.

by Anonymousreply 95April 3, 2022 2:30 PM

I think he’s probably done with blockbuster movies because of this, especially any movie intended to draw families or younger audiences. He hasn’t had a huge movie in many years. And now he’s riskier because of this. And he’s 53.

He will ultimately produce his own movies but I bet his crossover appeal to white audiences is really hurt by this, so you will see his films increasingly targeting black moviegoers.

And I honestly wonder if bigger stars will want to be in films with him (privately). He’s a violent guy, clearly unstable, and they will also be worried about backlash.

by Anonymousreply 96April 3, 2022 2:43 PM

Now Will Smith and JUSSIE will have to resort to GAY porno together.

by Anonymousreply 97April 3, 2022 2:44 PM

I wonder what their cash flow is like. It must cost a lot of money to maintain a large estate, take care of a large staff, and support their adult children.

The people who invested $60 million in their production company must be PISSED. He blew it. He could have gotten a ton of work from the Oscar. Now everyone will boycott his projects, if they even get made.

There are tickets still available for his next show, so he's not sold his tour out.

Anyway, if he worth $350,000,000 and he earned 3% return that's still an income of $10 million a year. He's fine.

by Anonymousreply 108April 3, 2022 4:09 PM

I doubt the $350M is liquid, and it’s probably inflated by his PR. They have large property estates in Calabasas and Hawaii so they could sell those if needed.

by Anonymousreply 109April 3, 2022 4:18 PM

Feb 07, 2019- Paramount Network, TV Land and CMT announced that they would no longer broadcast reruns of Roseanne following Roseanne Barr's controversial tweet.

3 years later 2022- Watch Roseanne daily on TV Land!

by Anonymousreply 110April 3, 2022 4:20 PM

We're not talking about reruns of old shows. We're talking about new projects. Not even the same topic.

by Anonymousreply 111April 3, 2022 4:26 PM

Let’s not forget Cosby reruns ran forever after his arrest.

by Anonymousreply 112April 3, 2022 4:27 PM

About the only movie I could see Will playing at the moment, that might get people back on his side, is if he did some sort of film like the new Nicolas Cage one where he is playing and making fun of himself.

by Anonymousreply 113April 3, 2022 4:27 PM

[quote] Does Jada have alopecia on her pussy too?

No, the hair's just worn off from heavy traffic.

by Anonymousreply 114April 3, 2022 4:28 PM

Give him grace? That slap was the last thing anyone wanted to see after two years of Covid, Drumptf, Qnuts, war, near constant outrage….what happened to the escapism of Hollywood?

by Anonymousreply 115April 3, 2022 4:30 PM

I hope the Academy is canceling any future Will Parker projects they had lined up.

by Anonymousreply 116April 3, 2022 4:32 PM

[quote] Stripping him from his Oscar is the most appropriate punishment for what he did.

I agree. It is the only punishment that could possibly shift equity and sympathy back in his favor. He won because he is well-liked and popular among the members of the Academy. He did not win because he is a great actor or his performance was the "best." He appeared to embody the values of the Academy yet he has humiliated and betrayed the Academy.

Loss of the award would allow for his redemption. He may even be nominated again and could possibly win. Now that would wash away the stain of this whole affair.

by Anonymousreply 117April 3, 2022 4:37 PM

Chris Rock got $20 million for his last special. He's certainly not hurting for money.

by Anonymousreply 118April 3, 2022 4:44 PM

Why are there so many people rationalizing/defending him (not here obvi)? Is it one of those "tell me you grew up with physical violence without telling me you grew up with physical violence" things? I'm not understanding this endless well of empathy for him. It *was*a one-off (unlike Chris Brown) but his lack of shame was disturbing.

Also, I heard a theory that Rock has had a thing for Jada for years and that's why she's the butt of his jokes and it came to a head, yada yada. Smith's defenders are throwing everything at this.

by Anonymousreply 119April 3, 2022 4:48 PM

[quote] Chris Rock got $20 million for his last special. He's certainly not hurting for money.

Yeah, but I'll bet his face is still hurting from that slap!

by Anonymousreply 120April 3, 2022 4:49 PM

[quote] And I'd be willing to bet each and every one of us has done something just as awful as he has.

Probably not. If he could do this in a spectacularly public forum I shudder to think of the ways Will Smith has transgressed in private.

by Anonymousreply 121April 3, 2022 4:50 PM

[quote] Now Will Smith and JUSSIE will have to resort to GAY porno together.

To borrow a phrase from Jada: "I'm here for it."

by Anonymousreply 122April 3, 2022 4:54 PM

For all the comments on Rock’s ‘grace and aplomb’ and his ‘professionalism’, it can’t sit well with him that after being publicly humiliated, he could do nothing, and essentially had to just take it…

by Anonymousreply 123April 3, 2022 4:54 PM

R100, let's talk about your rage...

by Anonymousreply 124April 3, 2022 4:56 PM

Will is not going to be cancelled, they cancel specific demographic only at the moment. They will wait a little bit , until they find someone else to write about.

by Anonymousreply 125April 3, 2022 4:57 PM

The defense for Will Smith reminds me of the defense for MJ and OJ. A small group of fans who can’t deal with complexity and have to attack anyone who dares to tell the truth. In the age of social media, they take it to even further extremes, trying to cancel anyone who is critical.

by Anonymousreply 126April 3, 2022 4:58 PM

[quote] Yea Chris is trying to take "the high road" 🙄

If "the high road" includes a monetary settlement from Will Smith, I agree.

by Anonymousreply 127April 3, 2022 5:00 PM

Are his fans / paid bots still attacking Zoe Kravitz and Wanda Sykes?

by Anonymousreply 128April 3, 2022 5:03 PM

PAUSED not CANCELLED, damnit!

by Anonymousreply 129April 3, 2022 5:11 PM

The Smith’s were already on the decline due to their age and the embarrassing pseudo-spiritual The Red Table. That video of Will being humiliated as the cuck will live on with the video of the slap and swearing. People were already over them and their pretend status as royalty.

by Anonymousreply 130April 3, 2022 5:18 PM

The Venn diagram of people who support Will Smith and people who believe MJ looks a lot like a circle.

by Anonymousreply 134April 3, 2022 5:50 PM

That picture at R132 is burned into the whole world's retinas. The footage of unhinged Will shouting obscenities from his front-row seat will live on YouTube forever.

We are a visual culture and Will Smith gave us visuals that will never, ever be forgotten.

He's done.

Sad times

by Anonymousreply 136April 3, 2022 5:59 PM

The apologists don't want to own up to the totally bizarre thing that happened last Sunday. Nice-guy Will Smith marched up on stage and slapped the hell out of a well-known comedian for making a rather lame joke about Smith's wife. Then Smith marched back to his seat and shouted obscenities. That has never happened at an event like the Oscars before. NEVER.

There is no excuse for it and there is no forgetting it. It's a shame the Black community lost another one of its positive role models, but that's on the man himself.

by Anonymousreply 137April 3, 2022 5:59 PM

R137, what is your point? The Oscars are bullshit, not high mass in St. Peter’s. Your role model comment is telling.

by Anonymousreply 138April 3, 2022 6:14 PM

R136 Who are we supposed to feel sorry for in your repulsive video? Jada doesn't seem human at all. A 100% unemotional robot cunt is what she is.

by Anonymousreply 139April 3, 2022 6:24 PM

The point is that this is a big fucking deal. All the whataboutism and attempts at down-playing it don't change the fact that Smith did a bizarre and awful thing, and the public isn't buying the frantic spin.

I get why the Black community would like to hold on to their role models, but in this case they should be looking towards Chris Rock. Smith is over.

by Anonymousreply 140April 3, 2022 6:29 PM

[quote]people who believe MJ looks a lot like a circle

Sober up and try again.

by Anonymousreply 141April 3, 2022 6:29 PM

I'm still chuckling at the troll who asserted that "we" had "reverence for the Oscars."

by Anonymousreply 142April 3, 2022 6:31 PM

If the Oscars are no big deal, why did Jada campaign so vigorously to have more African Americans included? Who cares if Oscars are So White if they are just another awards show?

Bullshit. The Oscars ARE a big fucking deal, and the Smith family ruined the most recent one. Nobody is going to forget that.

by Anonymousreply 143April 3, 2022 6:40 PM

R19 Will was getting $20M per film for decades and previous to that he was making $8M per picture. He also produced a number of BO hits and got 10% of the gross some of the movies he starred in in addition to his salary. He got $10M for the Legend of Bagger Vance. His property was probably bought years ago at far less than $50M. He's got big bucks so he doesn't have to worry except that the flow stops here.

by Anonymousreply 144April 3, 2022 6:44 PM

Will and Tyler Perry could star as a married couple in “Medea: Bitch-Slapped.” They receive counseling from Dr. Tiffany Haddish at The Blue Table, a raucous Maury Paouvich-style daytime TV show.

by Anonymousreply 145April 3, 2022 7:12 PM

R136’s video is why, while I hold Will responsible for his actions, I can’t help but feel Jada ultimately caused it through her years of mentally abusing her husband.

To paraphrase Lenny Bruce: “Boy, Martin Lawrence is fucked!”

by Anonymousreply 149April 3, 2022 8:08 PM

Exactly! Down low gays are the worst

by Anonymousreply 155April 3, 2022 8:30 PM

by Anonymousreply 157April 3, 2022 9:31 PM

The only way Will can make a comeback now is to beg Chris Rock to help him get back into the Hollywood fold. He also has to dump Jada.

by Anonymousreply 158April 3, 2022 10:59 PM

I hope Chris never does help him. Why should someone who gets bullied help his bully?

by Anonymousreply 159April 3, 2022 11:05 PM

I’m sure there’s going to be a book coming out by Will, all self help, and triumph over his devil.

This gem popped up on my timeline today:

[quote] I’ve seen all sorts of shit on Facebook in the past week.

[quote] Everything from calling Will "violent" and the slap as an “act of violence", to saying Jada is toxic for Will and she made him do it.

[quote] If you are having any of these discussions on your own walls I hope that you were coming at it from an intersection of understanding about black women and their hair, and black culture.

[quote] I’ve seen too many non-black POC completely dismiss the whole situation out of hand and sympathize with the white supremacist view on the incident.

by Anonymousreply 165April 4, 2022 12:01 AM

Who would want to work with Will Smith now? Only if they were desperate.

by Anonymousreply 166April 4, 2022 12:04 AM

[quote]He also has to dump Jada.

And if he really wants to burn her ass, wife #2 will be a young, white blond chick. He can afford to purchase the best little gold digger money can buy.

by Anonymousreply 167April 4, 2022 12:09 AM

Will produce Cobra Kai and that is what I’m worried about…

by Anonymousreply 168April 4, 2022 12:14 AM

My experience/understanding of alopecia is no hair. JPS had a full head of hair, albeit short, at the Oscars…

by Anonymousreply 169April 4, 2022 12:52 AM

R169, if it’s stress related, it can grow back. But hers wasn’t from stress, it was from traction. Sometimes it can grow back.

by Anonymousreply 170April 4, 2022 12:58 AM

[quote] I’ve seen too many non-black POC completely dismiss the whole situation out of hand and sympathize with the white supremacist view on the incident.

So are they saying Chris Rock is the white supremacist for telling the joke? Because if anyone thinks Chris Rock is a white supremacist that term will have lost all meaning.

by Anonymousreply 171April 4, 2022 2:51 AM

[quote]So are they saying Chris Rock is the white supremacist for telling the joke?

No. But you know that.

by Anonymousreply 172April 4, 2022 2:53 AM

Louis CK just won a Grammy so I'm not sure cancel culture exists as much as you wish it did.

Not that anyone in this thread thought Louis CK should have been cancelled in the first place.

by Anonymousreply 173April 4, 2022 2:55 AM

R172 No I don't. I DO NOT understand how something between two black men all of a sudden has anything to do with white supremacy. Why my concern for Rock, a black man, somehow makes me a white supremacist.

And, the previous quote in R165 said...

[quote] If you are having any of these discussions on your own walls I hope that you were coming at it from an intersection of understanding about black women and their hair, and black culture.

Since Rock is the one who made the joke and an entire documentary about black women and their hair, and therefore KNOWS the culture, aren't they arguing that he was making a white supremacist joke about a black woman's hair?

And, this is the thing that infuriates me about people trying to excuse this as a racial thing. Having different expectations for public behavior by race, is fucking racist. These were both millionaires in a room of millionaires, to say well that millionaire is black so his behavior is understandable is, to borrow a term, cringe as fuck. Neo-Jim Crow in which we aren't physically segregated is more insidious than the OG version we kicked to the curb almost sixty years ago. Because now we have only the illusion of integration.

by Anonymousreply 174April 4, 2022 3:10 AM

R61, "I don’t think Will should have lost his Oscar."

He didn't, clueless Mary!

by Anonymousreply 175April 4, 2022 8:06 PM

They’re both sociopaths. Well, Jada definitely seems like one.

by Anonymousreply 176April 5, 2022 6:26 AM

R176, Will slapped someone and then cursed them out in front of a worldwide audience, but Jada seems like a sociopath?

by Anonymousreply 177April 5, 2022 12:52 PM

r174, my comment at r165 had nothing to do with any of the extraneous crap you brought up in your stupid rant.

The context alone makes it clear that the person who was quoted was NOT calling Chris Rock a "white supremacist." If you can't understand that, then this topic is too complicated for you.

by Anonymousreply 178April 5, 2022 1:07 PM

R178 Fine, then explain how they worked white supremacy in there. How did one black man telling a joke, that resulted in another black man coming on stage and slapping him before returning to his seat and cursing at the black man on stage, have anything to do with white supremacy? There was not one white person involved in the situation, except as witnesses.

by Anonymousreply 179April 5, 2022 3:14 PM

R161 Huh!

by Anonymousreply 180April 7, 2022 12:30 AM
