David Bromstad’s ‘My Lottery Dream Home’

Holy crap the amount of redneck white trash on this show is astounding. I shouldn’t be surprised considering who plays the lottery.

by Anonymousreply 35September 22, 2023 3:58 AM

David Bromstad is beloved of rice queens.

by Anonymousreply 1April 2, 2022 10:43 PM

It's sort of a self-selecting group; there are certain people that are more likely to spend money that they don't have on scratch-off tickets. Most of the "millionaires" on his show have won their fortune with those scratch-offs.

by Anonymousreply 2April 2, 2022 11:12 PM

He fits right in with his tattoos and Ed Hardy aesthetic.

by Anonymousreply 3April 2, 2022 11:57 PM

"David Bromstad is beloved of rice queens."

Because he's Finnish?

Because you're a confused racist?

by Anonymousreply 4April 3, 2022 12:33 AM

I love how he doesn’t give a fuck, wears what he wants etc. He’s almost 50. At least he doesn’t look like some office drone wearing khaki pants or some other tragic clueless slob at 50.

by Anonymousreply 5April 3, 2022 12:48 AM

R4 I know right?

Most people don't know that Norwegians can have slanted eyes. Look at Renee Zellweger

by Anonymousreply 6April 3, 2022 1:31 AM

He remind me of Nens Leaskes

by Anonymousreply 7June 10, 2022 11:39 PM

I make six figures, but I buy the occasional lottery ticket. Like every couple of months I throw away ten bucks, because what the hell, retirement is a long way away!

by Anonymousreply 8June 10, 2022 11:42 PM

A terrible show, I prefer his color story program and I like his ethnic looks

by Anonymousreply 9June 11, 2022 12:02 AM

They always say they won scratch-off tickets. I haven't seen an episode in which someone won a big lotto jackpot.

One person's "lottery winning" was a dead mother, which I thought was rather morbid.

by Anonymousreply 10June 11, 2022 12:25 AM

Some of his outfits are a little…outre.

by Anonymousreply 11June 11, 2022 12:27 AM

I don’t understand the tiger neck tattoos and hand tattoos. AT ALL.

by Anonymousreply 12June 11, 2022 12:32 AM

A terrible show, I prefer his skin color, and I like his ethnic looks

by Anonymousreply 13June 11, 2022 12:33 AM

I love whomever the cameraman is. The cameraman got game. I cannot be the only viewer who's caught it: When David is showing homes to a hetero couple, the cameraman will get a shot from the rear, and semi profile of the husband which shows him checking David out as he walks ahead of them. Now, THAT'S some sneaky cuntery!

by Anonymousreply 14June 11, 2022 12:34 AM

I liked the Christmas specials where he decks his place out in like a hundred trees and various other Christmas tchotchke. It must take at least two weeks to put all that shit away.

by Anonymousreply 15June 11, 2022 12:37 AM

@ R10 - I saw an episode where a CA couple hit it big on Mega. They bought a 15 million $ property high in the mountains which came with 50 acres. During the closing segment, they tell us that they bought an additional 150 acres surrounding which came with a herd of Bison!

by Anonymousreply 16June 11, 2022 1:12 AM

R16 - yes, and there was another woman in California who bought a big home in Pacific Palisades. But most big lottery winners don't want to be on TV, I suspect, so they go with scratch-off winners.

Fuck it - I enjoy seeing many people get a nice home for once. Many of these people had NOTHING before. It's good to see instead of Million Dollar Listing and Selling Sunset, with rich people buying massive 2nd and 3rd homes living a life that is just out of touch and outrageous.

For many people in the US with current prices, the only way they could afford a house is to win a lottery prize. And that's a fucked up reality.

by Anonymousreply 17June 11, 2022 1:17 AM

He was gorgeous until the tattoos.

by Anonymousreply 18June 11, 2022 1:24 AM

Watched a marathon last night because I, sick, and he really does love his tattoos. I see he’s already getting face ones, too. That’s some body dysmorphia.

by Anonymousreply 19August 13, 2022 1:51 PM

He might be a bit of a M.E.S.S, but I like David, one of the few people to win a dining competition where the grand prize was hosting a new show on HGTV and actually follow through. He won the first season of Design Star and has been in HGTV host mode for ten-plus years. Good for him. Prior to that. he worked for Disney in Florida at some sort of creative capacity. David + Disney + Creative? Sounds like a perfect fit.

A while back he made a personal appearance at paint/hardware store in Manhattan, where he was repping this new line of paint. I think it was called Mystic paint. The color names were kicky and fun. Two things: he looks taller on TV, and, true to form, he sheepishly laughed and guffawed at all of his quips.

by Anonymousreply 20August 13, 2022 2:13 PM

He used to live in my building in Miami and seemed incredibly sweet and genuine.

by Anonymousreply 21August 13, 2022 2:16 PM

I like him too, R20. He seems like he’d be a good cuddler, and also like he’d smell good.

by Anonymousreply 22August 13, 2022 2:46 PM

I think you're likely right, and its incredibly sad because he would be breathtakingly beautiful without those tattoos. He was before he got them, and he does seem sweet too like R22 says. Such a shame

The pic on Wikipedia is from 2010. Say no more

I like David and his show.....the people seem so much more real than on House Hunters or those other dumb shows.

And yes the cameramen certainly on in on the joke.....as is David. the realtors he meets up with can also be fun.....

by Anonymousreply 24August 13, 2022 3:20 PM

This guy is considered “breathtakingly beautiful”….. oh, Datalounge, you post the craziest things!

by Anonymousreply 25August 13, 2022 3:45 PM

You can’t deny his handsomeness, R25, and he has a certain quality that kinda draws you to him.

by Anonymousreply 26August 13, 2022 4:31 PM

I can , and I will deny his handsomeness.

by Anonymousreply 27August 14, 2022 6:26 PM

Again for laughs - I was watching the show a few Fridays ago. David shows a home to a hetero couple and they begin discussing what they liked about the house. Husband says "I like a big deck, David." David responds "MMMM! ME TOO!!" That's so funny! 😂

by Anonymousreply 28August 14, 2022 6:46 PM

Whenever I watch the show, I feel sorry for the real estate agents who actually choose the houses that David will show to the lottery winners but get none of the credit. When the lottery winners meet with David at the local coffee shop at the end of the show to gush about all the wonderful homes David showed them, I'd love to see the real estate agent appear and scream, "Bitch, *I'm* the one who found you those homes! This tattooed freak just waltzed into town and didn't do shit!"

by Anonymousreply 29August 14, 2022 9:34 PM

Why does a good looking man ruin his body with this ghastly collection of tattoos? He now looks like a white trash redneck who has just been released from a 10 year prison sentence from the county jail in bumfuck Oklahoma.

Does anyone know his ethnic background? He looks like he has some Inuit in there.

by Anonymousreply 30August 14, 2022 10:03 PM

R30 I think that's the look he's going for. He only had a few tattoos when he was competing on Design Star, and in shot after shot he'd be shirtless. He admitted later that the no-shirt thing was a strategic part of his 'winning' formula.

Kind of unrelated, but if you look on Pornhub even homeless guys are being fetishized.

by Anonymousreply 31August 15, 2022 12:01 PM

He was adorable before the ugly tats. Still cute but ugh.

by Anonymousreply 32September 21, 2023 7:47 PM

I had no idea who he was and looked him up. Good lord, you guys aren't kidding about his tattoos- the neck and face particularly. Also his Mickey Mouse one.

by Anonymousreply 33September 21, 2023 8:53 PM

I love watching his show because he is unapologetically gay gay gay and the rednecks in the hick towns who won scratch offs seem to all deal well with him. I like when he gets a little flirty with single guys looking for houses too. One thing that is different about this show is you will NEVER hear the winners disparage a house the way they do on house hunters. (I think that must be something agreed upon beforehand)

by Anonymousreply 34September 21, 2023 9:46 PM

LOL at anyone who thinks he's full on euro.

He's still hot.
