I’m sure he was totally horrified, both at the assault and how trashy the Smiths are, but also that he was going to lose an Oscar to a third-rate actor in an average performance.

I think I can hold my nose more to the standing ovation because a)they all probably had expected to stand before they even got there that night and when people started standing I can assume there were some that kinda just went with it b)his fellow nominees might've felt like they would look like sore losers if they didn't c)a great deal of them feared being called racist by Jada and her ilk. Partying with him and taking pictures with him at parties however, that's repulsive and unforgivable.

Playing rap music over the 50th anniversary clips of The Godfather movies, having P Diddy announce it, without a single word uttered by Pacino or DeNiro, suggests they specifically wanted it to be about black actors.
