I used to watch reruns of that show and Bizarre as a kid. No wonder I turned out the way I did.

Proof that not everything 40-50 years ago was any good at all.

It was horrible but i enjoyed watching it like i enjoyed watching cringeworthy shows like Mama's Family.

A lot of Benny Hill's material wouldn't fly today.

Going back to Bizarre, I liked the Super Dave segments.

It was soooo funny, some skits were dumb but overall it was always good for a laugh.

I loved Benny Hill! But I love visual comedy and that is a lost art.

Such a funny show. Just so dumb, I loved it. Fun fact, if you play the Benny Hill theme as accompaniment to a video of anything, it makes it absurdlyfun.

Benny Hill was comedic genius. However yes, as others have said much of it simply wouldn't make it on air today.

As those who grew up in financially distressed circumstances are wont to do as adults, Mr. Hill was tight with his money. For record despite what their reputation abroad would leave many to believe, British aren't that bothered by topless, or nearly naked women in print or television. For that matter neither does the blatant T&A and other sexual double entendre bother them much either. Well it didn't at least until recently anyway.

The Sun, a British tabloid newspaper featured a topless young woman (Page Three Girl) for decades.

We are well aware of the tawdry qualities of British tabloid culture.

We are equally tawdry in America.

But we're more hypocritical about it.
