I would never recommend the series to anyone but I loved it. The acting and writing was atrocious but the actors were charming and hot enough to endure it.

Besides Avan and Beau there was Jacob Artist, Desmond Chaim who played Jorgia's friend's boyfriend with the humiliation kink and Devan Long (who is in CBS' GHOSTS) who played the actor trying to seduce Beau's character.

There were minor flashes and moments of fun and interesting in that series... but mere moments and flashes.

Also, the lead from Teen Wolf had a male-male kiss with the lead of this show, which I guess was the lead up to his coming out as bi or whatever.

It’s a Gregg Araki show. He directed a lot of movies in the 1990s that were “almost there,” too. The Living End and The Doom Generation come to mind. To me, Araki movies are like Jim Jarmusch movies: better to talk about than to sit through.

So Gregg Araki made a TV pilot back in 2000 called "This Is How The World Ends" for MTV and it looked really good but you could see it was just an high school version of Nowhere, like some type of alternate universe where all the Nowhere characters got reincarnated. Plot elements from This Is How The World Ends were later recycled for a 2010 movie called Kaboom! set at a college. Now Apocalypse recycled all of plot elements from the aforementioned but with protagonists in their mid-20s. The actress from Kaboom! who played the witch is even back as the annoying scientist.

Similarities: main character is a bisexual stoner airhead with a big heart just looking for love, has a sexually assertive and sarcastic alt-rocker best friend or girlfriend, is infatuated with a seemingly-straight guy who is a tease, the main character has hallucinations or sees some alien conspiracy to take over the world, rinse and repeat.

MTV actually gets props for so being gay-friendly in the 90s and 2000s with The Real World, Undressed, Daria, Spyder Games, True Life and all those dating shows like NEXT and Parental Control. I wish This Is How the World Ends continued on, I think Araki would have been more creative with network restrictions put upon him. He needs an editor.
