Given the witnessed assault that just occurred live on the Oscars 2022 stage, would you be willing to see Will Smith’s next film: Emancipation?
Hell no. He’s cancelled for me forever. He has always been the most overrated “actor” in the biz.

I think "Affirmative Action" is a more suitable title, OP. I see a franchise even.

He’ll still make a ton of $$.

I wasn't going to see it, anyway, so no.

I wouldn't see it even if the name of his next film was "Masturbation."

An escape from slavery tale? How bold.

Never watched him in anything and I never wanted to. So, short answer, no.

Only if it was Emancipation from Jada and he comes out as a gay man, and even then only on streaming for free.

He plays a runaway slave who emancipates himself from his hair after a horrible accident with an alpaca.

His career was really in the doldrums before King Richard. Now it's back in full-swing, and he's all teary-eyed, thanking Jesus for his 'blessings'.
But also aware that Satan always lurks.

Do we really need another slavery film? Time to stop picking at that scab.

Antoine Fuqua directed Denzel to his TRAINING DAY win. And given the subject matter, I'm thinking Will cost himself a shot at possible back-to-back Oscar immortality.
And I for one am here for it. Fuck his crazy Scientology ass and his fidget wife.

Agreed, R11.
Following Cosby, Jussie and now Will Smith, becoming increasingly weary of the black victimization trope.
Their CRIMINAL actions can only take the “woe is me” identity so far.
Enough.
Already.

The last movie I saw in a theater was The Titanic so I'm fairly confident I will be missing Emancipation.

The Irish have been picking at their 'English scab' since the time of Oliver Cromwell (and that's 373 years).

Thank you for the historical British/Irish equivalent, R15. I learned something this evening.
But to R11 ‘s point, scab picking is probably not where we need to be going at this point. Especially following The Slap Heard Around The World, a possible WWIII (and an extremely polarized US) and the last dying gasps of Hollywood dignity.
They should shelve the film. Or at the very least replace Will Smith with (a) Christopher Plummer-lookalike.

The backbone of Afrocentric schools is lynchings, Malcolm X, firehoses, German Shepherds, Rosa Parks and we shall overcome.

I disapprove of the slap, but it won’t keep me from going to his movies if I want to see them. Appropriate punishment should come from the Academy, like not letting him attend next year.
