It was so deserved.
And she's a class act.
I just saw "The Eyes of Tammy Faye" yesterday, and I was so moved by her performance.
One of the few times in the past twenty years that I thought someone actually DESERVED the Oscar.

She was fantastic and definitely earned the recognition.

She was the best. Unlike others, I thought she looked great last night. Her dress and ponytail were fun.

Jessica absolutely deserved it. She did her own singing too. I can’t wait to watch the movie again tomorrow night on HBO.

There's only one problem. Almost no one went and saw the movie when it was released. It will find its niche now.

OP needs to watch more films. And how many people have actually watched this flop anyway? I doubt most Oscar voters even bothered to watch it. That Oscar for best make up was just as bad. What a shitty job! J. Edgar-level of bad. And what the fuck was her nod to the LGBT community and suicide during her speech? "you are unconditionally loved" by whom? they don't even have support from their own families! Does Jessica loves strangers unconditionally? LOL. Not to mention how she portrayed that con artist fraud Tammy Faye as a naive hero.
Now that Jessica finally got the most important thing in the world for her that she spent over a decade begging to win by kissing countless asses and sucking countless dicks/pussies (hi Harvey Weinstein and Megan Ellison!), and even using her sister's suicide in her Oscar campaigns, she can stick it up her ass and disappear for good! Her career will fade anyway since that's what happens to most Oscar winners. Plus, she's almost 50 and her next films sound like utter garbage.

Frankly, seeing her in the audience prior to her win, I thought she was Miss I Love My Life.

I just got around to watching it and, I have to say, it's quite good. Excellent acting, direction, makeup, hair. Poor Tammy Faye was very naive and so were their viewers. Jim: "If you can just double your pledge *this* month only... the devil is coming for me, Tammy Faye!"
