DL's hairdressers have remained oddly silent on this issue. That's right, it's an issue.

R2 Just raising awareness.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | March 28, 2022 10:46 AM |
Alopecia is common in black women. Has a lot to do with harsh hair treatments and wig wearing. It’s a legit condition and I don’t doubt that she suffers from it. Whitney Houston did, too.
That said: Will Smith seems mighty crazy. That’s a legit condition, too.

A man was viciously sissy-slapped for it last night.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 28, 2022 11:17 AM |
You can still see the bald patches of alopecia on a shaved head. I don't think Jada would be able to get away with painting them over under HD cameras and flashbulbs. It would show.

That’s traction alopecia which is different than alopecia areata. Tractional comes from years of braiding, weaves, tight hairstyles, etc. Alopecia areata is genetic with patchy to complete hair loss. Jada has the former not the latter.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | March 28, 2022 11:20 AM |
Alopecia areata is pretty uncommon, actually. We all probably have known one or two people who actually had it as a legitimate medical condition.
My sister dated a man who had ZERO hair anywhere; no eyelashes or eyebrows. Now THAT is alopecia and it sucks that this sour cunt is appropriating it for some kind of defense of her maniac husband.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | March 28, 2022 11:26 AM |
i know someone who had stress-induced alopecia; his hair fell out in patches. if he’d shaved it, you would have seen bald patches amongst the black roots. With her I just see a shaved head with uniform roots. 🤔

R14 here - just to add, her shaved head looks really good, actually. She looked wonderful in that dress. I’m not sure what all the drama was about.

If you doubt, you’re a misogynist racist.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 28, 2022 11:45 AM |
R15, I think so, too. There aren’t too many women who can look good with a shaved head. Jada is one of the few. She shouldn’t be all victim-y about it. She should shrug it off and own it.
Actually, she should just go and live herself a quiet millionaire life, but.

Exactly and sometimes parts of it start to grow, sometimes it happens in new areas, sometimes it thins out all of the hair on your head.
That "line" Jada had on her head a while ago she used to demonstrate she had alopecia has grown back but that doesn't mean she can just grow her hair out again because that portion may not grow back the same, her hair might fall out in spots again, it's annoying to deal with.

I have a blonde Caucasian friend with alopecia from an autoimmune disease. Her hair looks similar to Jada’s. (she does have some hair and it looks like it’s shaved). It was falling out in clumps a couple of years ago, so she decided to shave it. I don’t know if having it short, almost bald, helps (maybe the weight of the hair makes it fall out more). Everyone thinks that my friend has cancer when she goes out.

by Anonymous | reply 62 | March 28, 2022 11:58 PM |
The subject of this thread is "Jada Pinkett Smith does not have alopecia." That is false. Several posters have insisted she has no hair loss, she only shaves her head. Also false--her hairline has significantly receded. She claims her hair has fallen out in clumps before and that she has seen growth and loss in patches. No one here has any way of knowing whether that's accurate, but the only evidence that it's not accurate is the false claim that she doesn't have alopecia.
Shifting the goalpost to say "oh, well, it's a different kind of alopecia, not this other kind" does not stop this thread subject and several of its posts from being bullshit.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | March 29, 2022 12:07 AM |
Poor Jada. If she does have alopecia, I feel really sorry for her.
I don’t know about anyone else, but for me, my hair was my crowning glory, because I had gotten it so long and it was super healthy.
Having had to shave it all off has been almost devastating. Not quite devastating, but almost.
Yeah, I don’t have alopecia, and it is growing back, but I know it’s taking me a year to 18 months to get any decent length, and it will be 2 years before I have it down to where it was previously.
Wearing wigs SUCKS, especially when it’s warm out. I have a whole new appreciation for women who have done this, because hair is such a huge deal for self confidence.
Anyhow, take care of your hair and scalp, people. Eat healthy and use natural products whenever possible.
I watch inspo vids and then I go and deep condition my hair with Jamaican Black Castor Oil and rinse it with rice water, making sure to pop vitamins and collagen powder every morning, until it grows the fuck back, because ain’t no woman wanna run around with a bald ass head.
Hugs to you, Miss Jada. And yep. You’re hubby’s an idiot.

I remember when Madonna was asked why she chose a short haircut for The Girlie Show, and she said that she had been dying her hair so much around that time (during her brief Pippi Longstocking phase) that at one point her pigtails just snapped off, so she basically gave herself a haircut whether she wanted it or not.

OP, there's no way you can know she doesn't have alopecia. I know from experience it can come and go. And why would someone lie about such a thing?
I had alopecia areata (baldness in patches) as a kid. I have always had great, thick hair and still do today in my 50's. When I was around 13, a bald area developed on the back of my head. Eventually it was very large, and was completely slick. It was probably the size of a softball. There were also a few other small, quarter and nickel-sized patches elsewhere on my scalp. I remember the dermatologist telling me that it was possible that I'd lose all my hair on my head, and body if it developed into alopecia totalis, (total baldness). I suffered with this on and off for about three years. I got injections under my scalp and UV light treatments. It would come and go. The hair would grow back, starting as peach fuzz and eventually developing back into my normal hair. Then, another bald patch would appear. I was tortured by it, especially as a young gay boy who was already the target of bullying. Eventually it all grew back. I had a recurrence of it in my 20's, but only the small patches. I haven't had any problem with it since then.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | March 29, 2022 1:30 PM |

[quote] And why would someone lie about such a thing?
You can’t be serious. People lie about the dumbest things possible— for attention, for pity, for money, for status, to cover up something else, to compensate for their shortcomings.
Jada is likely experiencing hair loss due to years of harmful treatments (wigs, weaves, relaxer) and because she is getting older, seeing hormone fluctuations, and going through menopause. That’s it. She would rather play it off as an illness she had no choice over than admit it was due to destructive beauty standards.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | March 29, 2022 2:02 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 105 | March 29, 2022 2:38 PM |

I don't know if she genuinely has alopecia or not, I would tend to think she has because she's a notorious over-sharer (exhibit: the clip someone posted above from her Red Table show) so I don't see why she would claim it if it wasn't true.
Regardless, I think she looks amazing with a shaved head, and I thought that dress was cute too.

I believe she does have alopecia. Looking at the photo at R114, there's no sign of follicles towards the front. Her "hairline" has moved pretty far back. I also have alopecia with the same pattern. The front has no follicles and whatever hair I have left is more in the back. Even the remaining hair is extremely thin and patchy all around. It really sucks. I wear a lot of hats now...never was a hat person. Even a thick headband doesn't cover it anymore. I don't like her, but I understand what she's going through. However, Will's reaction is never right.

[quote] there's no sign of follicles towards the front. Her "hairline" has moved pretty far back.
Common in women with traction alopecia, which is the result of stress on the hair from wigs, weaves, and too tight hairstyles. Traction alopecia hair loss is almost always concentrated on the front hairline/forehead and temples. See Jojo Siwa.

Cunty Jada should forever be known as Pecia Pinkett Smith.

It's TOO even. I have wondered if she got that tattoo/microblading technique that bald men get to look like they have a full barely-there head of stubble.

[quote]her grandmother taught her how to masturbate when she was only 9
Wouldn't this be considered sexual abuse by today's standards, and why did she think her daughter wanted that visual forever stuck in her head?

If she has hair loss she did it to herself. Besides a lot of women, over 50 start losing their hair. All women get thinning hair as they age. I'm 72 and although I don't have bald spots, my hair is really thin. And it shows. If someone made a joke about my thinning hair It wouldn't bother me and I would probably laugh.

R124, my late MIL had incredible thick hair, into her 70s. She was really lucky. She was saggy and wrinkled, but she had beautiful hair. It was thick and full of body. I promise it wasn’t a wig. Her sister does, too. Her brothers were not as lucky. Irish.

[quote] I had alopecia areata (baldness in patches) as a kid. I have always had great, thick hair and still do today in my 50's. When I was around 13, a bald area developed on the back of my head. Eventually it was very large, and was completely slick. It was probably the size of a softball. There were also a few other small, quarter and nickel-sized patches elsewhere on my scalp.
fuck, R100 - this makes me glad my only (visible) autoimmune condition is psoriasis on my hands and forearms! the bullying from those little shits in middle school/high school must have been horrendous!

R126… i failed to mention that psoriasis of the hands/fingers is extremely painful (it involves cracking and bleeding and loss of skin in an area that has a lot of nerve endings and is used and exposed constantly) but still - in my early teens i think i would have preferred that over visible hair loss that my peers would have been total fucking shits about… :/
