Eleonor and FDR had a loving. respectful relationship. She had her lesbian affairs and he had his mistresses, despite his disability. They were actually distant relations, I think like fifth cousins from different branches of the same family.

I can remember the TV special entitled "Eleanor and Franklin" started with Eleanor learning that at the time of FDR's death he had been spending time with one of of his mistresses, I think it was Lucy Mercer. Because this was made in the 1970s, I guess people couldn't get their heads wrapped around the idea that a married couple could get along, have relatively separate lives, and not be jealous of what their spouse was doing with somebody else in bed. So they treated it like Eleanor was all upset about it and had hurt feelings.

While I think she may have been hurt that her own daughter was lying to her about setting up the meeting between FDR and Mercer, I honestly think Eleanor couldn't give a shit about who Franklin was having sex with. The two of them were so powerful and self assured that they really just became supportive friends for each other long after their marital sex life was over. Eleanor should have come out of the closet in her later life, or at least introduced the world to some of her female companions.

I think FDR and Eleanor are the greatest presidential couple in history. They were two fully self-actualized adults who really cared about each other and the world around them.

I’m not the Biden poster, but it is indeed true that Jill was married before, and that she and Joe met while she was married. Her ex has done all kinds of trashy airing of dirty laundry and claims that she and Joe were carrying on before their marriage ended. No idea if that’s true — I have an ex who totally cheated on me in a humiliating and public way, but I would *never* trash him in an interview (he’s still an asshole), but that is just so scuzzy. I wouldn’t be shocked if Jill’s ex is a MAGAT.

My gut is that Biden has likely had some intense flirting and crushes on women while married to Jill, but likely didn’t act out much further than flirting. This is just wild guessing, but I’m thinking because of how he lost his first wife, that he likely doesn’t take Jill for granted, he realizes how lucky he is to have his family after losing not only a wife, but TWO children. Time will tell though, with his roots, it would be more likely that he cheated but I don’t believe he has or GOP would have used it. I love both of them regardless of fidelity.
