R29, I think Colbert is a little more thirsty than Fallon and Kimmel because he only got his show on broadcast TV in 2015. It's like he finally made it to the big time. Fallon has had a show on NBC since 2009 and Kimmel has had his show on ABC since 2003.

I was saying only the 3 because I was just thinking of the hosts who had shows earlier in the night. But yes, you can throw in Seth Meyers and James Corden, too. They are also both gay-friendly.

He had a very shaky start - it drove me bananas trying to watch him interview someone. Wouldn't listen to the answers, seemed like a nervous wreck.

I watch his monologues and only occasionally an interview lately - he does seem a lot better to me, or I've got over the shock of him switching from satire. I like Kimmel, as a person, and he's quick witted but the show has some dopey writing at times. Just cannot do Fallon. (hope he's got his drinking under control, though - seems like sort of a sad person - I worry)

I've been watching Colbert since his "Daily Show" days, and in his present state, he's definitely lost his edge. He's still good for a few scattered laughs in his monologue. But without the satire of "The Colbert Report," his comedy is kind of bland.

I think all the hosts are just riding out the end of broadcast TV. I don't get why younger people complain about them because they aren't the audience for them. It's not like they're going to get rid of them and replace them with younger hosts as younger people don't watch these shows.
