Why isn’t Joshua Bassett as big of a star as Shawn Mendes!?
Joshua Bassett is the lead on “High School Musical” opposite Olivia Rodrigo.
If Olivia Rodrigo can make it huge, then why can’t Joshua Bassett?
Is it because he’s basically the same type as Shawn Mendes? But Shawn Mendes is too cowardly to come out of the closet. At least Bassett is openly queer and admits to an attraction to Harry Styles.
We need more white (and openly queer) male singers on the music charts. Black male rappers are over represented on the Billboard Hot 100 in terms of their population.
Frankly, I can’t tell the difference between Kodak Black, Lil Durk and Gunna, so move over one of you and make way for Joshua Bassett! We must support openly queer (and handsome, as opposed to Sam Smith) music artists!

Pretty much. Shawn Mendes already exists and is occupying the slot Bassett would take if he didn't. Same reason Asher Angel's music career went down the shitter, and why barely anyone knows who Johnny Orlando is.

He has yet to release a "Stitches." I think "Secret" is the most commercil of what he's released. I quite like "L.A." He's probably a little too earnest, sometimes twee 1970s singer-songwriter for the times in which we live.
