OMG - and gurl, puhlease - this is definitely NOT a dollface alert

Who the fuck thinks these things are pets to be petted?

Dollface thread.

by Anonymousreply 1March 21, 2022 2:24 AM

Is it a rescue serpent?

by Anonymousreply 2March 21, 2022 2:26 AM

Were any pitties hurt in the process?

by Anonymousreply 3March 21, 2022 2:27 AM

“Should I stop filming and help?”

Everyone post-2010: Stop filming? I don’t understand the question.

by Anonymousreply 4March 21, 2022 2:32 AM

Wonder what happened in the end.

I love the way it starts "Hi there, gurl..." then...the nightmare began

All that blood. Did they kill the snake? Don't know why I'm asking here, what do any of you know about it (no offence meant).

by Anonymousreply 5July 8, 2022 5:47 AM

That snake would have eaten her if she had been alone. Oh well.

by Anonymousreply 6July 8, 2022 5:51 AM

Is it her blood or the snake’s?

by Anonymousreply 7July 8, 2022 5:52 AM

No sympathy here.

A snake as a pet is a sign of severe self-absorption and how people project their feelings onto animals.

Snakes don’t love you, they don’t give a fuck about you, they want to eat and kill you.

It’s what she gets.

by Anonymousreply 8July 8, 2022 5:53 AM

I think the snake's, R7 - she said "get the hook!"

by Anonymousreply 9July 8, 2022 5:54 AM

especially if you keep them in a tiny glass box - this is the best fun she's (the snake) had in ages.

It's funnier with the sound off.

Oh hell, nah! I would have been screaming like a little girl.

I had a very good friend in high school (one grade above me) that became this insane snake hoarder after graduation. Her profession was working at a really popular pet store in San Diego, and as a matter of fact, the owner of the store was the owner of "Spuds McKenzie." Why she went nuts over snakes is anyone's guess, but I'll never forget the first time I visited her apartment and the 2nd bedroom was FILLED with snakes in snake boxes. There were even some in the living room.

She kept asking me if I wanted to hold one - nope. The closest I came was to stroking it's stomach, which was really more out of morbid curiosity than anything else.

by Anonymousreply 13July 8, 2022 6:15 AM

First, that terrarium is WAY TOO SMALL for that snake. Why the fuck are they keeping it cramped up in a space that size. If that's the snakes normal "home," fuck those people.

Second, snakes can make very interesting pets. No, they don't love you but interacting with them can be fun and rewarding. But you gotta get the right kind.

The footage at OP is too grainy for me to tell what kind of snake that is but, for examples, many Python types are flinchey and strikers. Whereas Boas tend to be more mellow. But many people get Pythons because the name sounds cooler and they seem more "dangerous" as far as constrictors go. Ya know, like how dirtbag people gravitate towards Pit Bull dogs.

But plenty of snake types are very docile, especially if raised with lots of handling - BUT KEEP THIM IN A CORRECTLY SIZED AND ACCESSORIZED TERRARIUM, FFS

Her tone triggers me, like why is everything the man does to help wrong, not like that, not that way honey, you need to do this...how about you shut up and let him help you, this isn't a time to assert your authority, you clearly fucked up and are about to be seriously injured.

by Anonymousreply 15July 8, 2022 6:50 AM

Take a saw or a machete to that thing.

by Anonymousreply 16July 8, 2022 7:02 AM

by Anonymousreply 17July 8, 2022 7:06 AM

She called it “baby girl” in the beginning which is even worse.

^^r20 confirms my belief that most wildlife in AUS want to kill humans and eliminate them from their former, much-less populated continent.

Lol r24 I think that about all Animals including chihuahuas

by Anonymousreply 25July 8, 2022 8:38 AM

I'm having trouble watching R23's video - it's a tough watch. Why? you ask - because the footage is so much clearer than @ OP - but I must watch it because I want to know what he has to say. I'll watch it in increments.

Dude/bro? that's an old man.

by Anonymousreply 29July 8, 2022 11:09 AM

OMG..that is horrifying! That poor woman. That snake wraps itself around and squeezes...very powerful. Even with people there, it's very hard to unleash it with it's strength. The person filming...what an idiot. Why didn't he help? Why would anyone want a boa as a pet?? If she was by herself, she would be dead. I hope she's ok.

by Anonymousreply 30July 8, 2022 11:11 AM

by Anonymousreply 34July 8, 2022 11:17 AM

The commentary at R23 is informative; I really enjoyed it.

I also get the sense that he may be family.

by Anonymousreply 35July 8, 2022 11:25 AM

I find snakes rather interesting and s friend has a 6 ft boa. That tank is way too small and I'd be interested in knowing how long it had been between feedings. My friend's female boa, Luna, in very mellow but she's in a large tank and he's making plans for a very tall terrarium with a tree inside for her.

I'll bet this woman has snakes to be "ooh, look at me" with the edgy/different shock factor and not any real interest in their well-being.

This is also a joke, right?

by Anonymousreply 38July 8, 2022 11:44 AM

Damn humans.

Human and snakes share Earth.

If you notice, however, we evolved in, and adapted to, separate environments.

Without its permission or desire, someone removed this snake from its home, its natural environment and encased it in a glass prison.

Snakes gonna snake.

by Anonymousreply 39July 8, 2022 11:44 AM

[quote]Without its permission or desire, someone removed this snake from its home, its natural environment and encased it in a glass prison.

# 1. How do you know it wasn't bred in captivity?

# 2. Where in the world does this thing live in the wild?

by Anonymousreply 40July 8, 2022 11:48 AM

I find snakes fascinating, but it doesn’t seem they adapt to being kept as pets as well as some other animals do. I’ve read they can suffer from muscular and neurological issues that can stem from, or be aggravated by, an inability to move as a snake moves (snake experts please correct me). And I don’t think large captive snakes can shed in the way they are meant to. A shedding snakes can be anxious and defensive.

Some animals are safer in a home in which they are well cared for than they would be in a natural environment. I think this is rarely the case for a large snake, because it’s difficult (and costly) to provide better conditions for them in your home then they would find in a natural environment. Add in the danger a frightened or otherwise aggressive snake poses to others in the home because of an owner without the correct understanding of snakes, and it’s a bad situation.

I’ll get off my snake box now.

by Anonymousreply 41July 8, 2022 11:54 AM

That snake hisses and attacks fraus.

by Anonymousreply 42July 8, 2022 11:56 AM

by Anonymousreply 43July 8, 2022 11:59 AM

by Anonymousreply 44July 8, 2022 11:59 AM

R41...Interesting post with common sense.

by Anonymousreply 45July 8, 2022 12:01 PM

[quote] How do you know it wasn't bred in captivity?

And that's supposed to make it OK? The word "captivity", as in, you know, against its will, seems to suggest otherwise.

by Anonymousreply 46July 8, 2022 12:01 PM

I find caged birds even more repellent....however they're bred. But, hey, you can build your own so that makes it OK.

I'd rather spend the night in a temple filled with cobras rather than reach into a small tank and haul out an angry python. This woman doesn't know what she's doing. I had a roommate with a nice 5ft full-grown tree boa of some sort, who ate a frozen mouse every 3 days. She was very friendly and liked to be handled and would climb back towards the tank when she was done. People with large or dangerous snakes are almost always weirdos. OTOH there are a lot of snake pros who are hot guys.

While having such "pets" is ridiculous, I give her credit for remaining relatively calm and able to manage the situation.

by Anonymousreply 50July 8, 2022 12:33 PM

It's always entertaining reading about the son who keeps a boa constrictor as a pet in his bedroom. One day the mother realizes she hasn't seen her son for a while, goes to his bedroom and finds he's been crushed to death. She sees the snake slithering around the room.

by Anonymousreply 51July 8, 2022 12:40 PM

....or going into the bedroom, finding the snake with a huge lump in its gut.

by Anonymousreply 52July 8, 2022 12:49 PM

Why yes, R43, I do think, that’s why I wrote it.

I believe the snake in question is a reticulated python and I do believe they are noted to be more aggressive than some breeds like boas.

Hence my comment at R14

[quote]The footage at OP is too grainy for me to tell what kind of snake that is but, for examples, many Python types are flinchey and strikers. Whereas Boas tend to be more mellow.
