Yes!
by Anonymous | reply 1 | March 20, 2022 6:19 AM |
Donald Glover has gotten a little chubs, but I would still suck him cross-eyed. Cutie!
by Anonymous | reply 2 | March 20, 2022 6:24 AM |
Not really.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | March 20, 2022 8:20 AM |
What was that all about? I realize it was based on a real incident but why did Glover think it needed fictionalization? Felt a bit homophobic to me.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | March 25, 2022 5:59 AM |
Not in the least.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | March 25, 2022 6:32 AM |
R4, Atlanta has little vignette one offs like these from time to time. This one was actually engaging.
I don't think it was homophobic. It felt more anti-white.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 25, 2022 7:53 AM |
Atlanta does these dark episodes well, we just have to realize it is not directly connected to the main plot.
It was a fast recap of how bad the CPS system and schools can be. They took an old man lightly slapping a silly kid's face and instead of giving him detention, shuffled him through a badly managed CPS system. It does a good job referring that horrible hippie family that drove off a cliff with their foster kids, despite lots of moving and reports of neglect and no schooling.
The couple was funny and real because they are the "good mothers"/fraus that think they are always right BUT are just not as smart, clean, or patient as they want to appear. This site constantly makes fun of women who are like this.
One woman even repeatedly says something like "I thought we were doing the right thing but we need help."
by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 25, 2022 4:18 PM |
I almost didn't make it through the first episode because the story of the Hart kids is too sick and sad. I am glad I stuck it out.
The story of Lake Lanier and then going to the story of the Hart family and ep. 2 about the assisted suicide has me hoping that this season continues to be macabre.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 25, 2022 11:59 PM |
I loved it. Such a good show

Anyone else worried that Ern's cold is covid?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | March 28, 2022 1:05 AM |
He hired Malia Obama as a writer for the show.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 28, 2022 2:02 AM |
No, R11, that's for his next show for Amazon.
Atlanta is wrapped - seasons 3 and 4 were shot at the same time.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | March 28, 2022 2:08 AM |
I loved this week's episode. A lot of layers
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 3, 2022 4:41 PM |
Atlanta is very, very dark show!
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 3, 2022 4:45 PM |
Is this entire thread written by PR interns?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 3, 2022 4:47 PM |
Yes r3 I know your kind. Why come on this thread?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 3, 2022 4:50 PM |
Is this show gonna fuck me up?
I cannot stand seeing children being hurt, even if fictionalized.
Is it grittier than THE WIRE?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 3, 2022 5:07 PM |
Weirdly, Friday morning there were two new episodes on Hulu and then an hour later, only one; the episode set in the billionaires house with the tree. Wish I had watched both while I had the chance.
Amazing episode, though. WTF is going on with Van?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 3, 2022 5:12 PM |
I think she's just depressed and having a quarter life crisis.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 4, 2022 10:55 AM |
I liked that the billionaire was South African.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 4, 2022 4:23 PM |
So half the new episodes this season have been anthology shows? Killer episode, though! Christ.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 8, 2022 11:46 PM |
Last night's episode on FX was incredible!! It's a stand alone episode about reparations for slavery.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 8, 2022 11:51 PM |
I just read that the guy in the hotel was the same guy on the boat in the opening of the foster child episode, the guy who told the scary story about the town that was flooded. So maybe there is a thread of sorts connecting these thematic anthology episodes.
(It pains me that Gilded Age and Squid Games and freaking Bridgerton get multiple threads and this show gets 22 posts.)
by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 9, 2022 9:56 AM |
I know. It's such a good show.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 9, 2022 12:40 PM |
The most recent episode about reparations left me speechless. The writing was brilliant. As a black man, I actually felt a little sorry for the episode’s main character and that fat obnoxious black woman was a pain. Go through the courts fat mama. Bringing the family to his place for a cookout kinda pissed me off.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 9, 2022 6:09 PM |
WTF, Socks? Cool episode, but not sure what the ending was supposed to mean.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 16, 2022 2:25 PM |
What was that picture the dad got on his phone during the funeral?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 1, 2022 10:29 AM |
It was an Airdrop of a monkey's asshole. Which one of the funeral goers sent to illustrate the Trini proverb, that "the higher a successful goes, the more his asshole shows"
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 1, 2022 9:46 PM |
I love these standalone episodes. White people feel attacked and Black people are exhausted of explaining racism to white people so they're derided, but I fucking love them. And it makes me look forward to Van, Earn, Paperboi and Darius next week.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 1, 2022 9:49 PM |
Holy Fuck!
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 6, 2022 12:44 PM |
Good shit
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 6, 2022 1:28 PM |
The Trini episode was really great, but how many hundreds of thousands of British kids have been raised completely by servants and schoolmasters?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 6, 2022 2:14 PM |
It's also the same Imitation of Life funeral gag, for a minute.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 6, 2022 2:21 PM |
r32 in Black America's eyes, every English person is rich and has grown up with a butler and posh accent. They are incredibly ignorant.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 6, 2022 2:30 PM |
That was Chet Hanks playing the patois Tribeca guy,
by Anonymous | reply 35 | May 6, 2022 2:34 PM |
And another interesting cameo last night
by Anonymous | reply 36 | May 6, 2022 2:35 PM |
One of the show's writers with a picture of him cooking a white baby doll on a BBQ. Very provocative and aggressive statement.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 6, 2022 2:40 PM |
I don't think they even thought about it, R34. They may have filmed some of the season in Europe, but it's window-dressing for extremely parochial views, mostly. That said, I'm enjoying this season very much.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | May 6, 2022 2:42 PM |
The balls on that guy for taking that cameo, but it was absolute genius. The whole episode was.
This whole season has been dizzying. Afro-David Lynch.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | May 6, 2022 2:42 PM |
Just a heads-up: there’s a post-credits scene to this week's episode.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | May 20, 2022 7:18 PM |
This show is without question the best thing on TV - however, I'll be dipped in shit if I can understand ANYTHING about this last "Vanessa" episode....!! But it is so compelling, who cares?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | May 20, 2022 11:30 PM |
It was a little off, but I'm so glad they kept with the horror theme throughout the whole season.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | May 21, 2022 12:45 AM |
Yeah, even by the standards of this season, that episode was WEIRD. But I absolutely loved this season. Best one yet. Hands down, the most ambitious thing on TV.
And I hope Skarsgard gets to do the Baby Shark movie.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | May 21, 2022 12:58 AM |
That worked better than the Liam Neeson bit.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | May 21, 2022 1:23 AM |
Oh, I thought the Neeson cameo was genius. Really unsettling in the best way. But Skarsgard was funny.
I wonder how long we’ll have to wait for the next season.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | May 21, 2022 1:27 AM |
The Trini episode was great because it wasn't just Evil White Devil Doing Evil White Person Things (which Atlanta often leans into). Instead, the episode was nuanced and emotional and felt incredibly profound because it also felt incredibly true. The characters were complex. Even the white ones. And it made the entire episode moving and transformative.
It's episodes like this that make Atlanta one of the best shows around.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | May 21, 2022 5:10 AM |
Who was the guy in the picture that was in the bag that didn't belong to Earn?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | May 22, 2022 4:11 AM |
The guy who shot himself at the end of the reparations episode.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | May 22, 2022 4:33 AM |
He was the white guy in the boat in the beginning episode 1 and the guy who shot him self in (episode 4?) the reparations episode.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | May 22, 2022 4:51 AM |
His name was also Earn.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | May 22, 2022 10:20 AM |
Well Earn's baby momma was Amelie in that episode; too many portentous identities.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | May 22, 2022 1:19 PM |
Thank you, r48 & r49.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | May 23, 2022 3:36 AM |
SNUBBED at the Emmys! No Best Comedy Series nomination.
Glover up for Best Actor, Hiro Murai for direction, and another nod for cinematography, but that's it.
I thought Donald Glover told us this was the best TV since The Sopranos? What happened??
by Anonymous | reply 53 | July 13, 2022 11:19 AM |
What happened? There's a limited number of nominations to give out, that's what happened.
As with Oscars, people who worship these awards perplex me.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | July 13, 2022 11:22 AM |
So that's it? The series ended?
No sure what hallucinogenic drugs the writers took for this season, but it had little to do with the main characters lives. This season was like one bad acid trip.
Sure, there was good acting from all, but rather convoluted storylines, a season where the acting transcended the oddball scripts. Unfortunately, the last season was weird for the sake of being weird and mostly all surface.
Was this last season some sort of homage to Jordan Peele's horror films?
by Anonymous | reply 55 | July 13, 2022 11:31 AM |
#EmmysSoWhite
When are we marching?
Donald Glover, we await instructions!

[quote]Glover up for Best Actor
It seemed to me like Glover was barely in the show this season. Every other regular cast member got more screen time than he did.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | July 13, 2022 11:53 AM |
Yes, Glover barely did anything this season, certainly nothing Best Actor worthy.
It's crazy that Brian Tyree Henry and Lakeith Stansfield, who got a ton of great scenes, were passed over for this list:
Anthony Carrigan (“Barry”)
Brett Goldstein (“Ted Lasso”)
Toheeb Jimoh (“Ted Lasso”)
Nick Mohammed (“Ted Lasso”)
Tony Shalhoub (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”)
Tyler James Williams (“Abbott Elementary”)
Henry Winkler (“Barry”)
Bowen Yang (“Saturday Night Live”)
I mean, come on, seriously?
by Anonymous | reply 58 | July 13, 2022 12:02 PM |
Bowen Yang? Doesn't he basically play himself?
by Anonymous | reply 59 | July 13, 2022 1:17 PM |
