Isn’t that too homogenously gay - thought it was all about how gays and straights do everything together now. No need for gay bars or clubs or parties.

The grammar slang and brand name use is a smart artistic writing choice imo. It paints the picture much better than proper grammar and generic product terms could ever do.

Sounds pretty true, though I can’t directly identify with the brands, because the last time I did a circuit party, there were no Ubers, Tik Toks, hotels tonight, or DJs center stage (they were up in a booth and off to the side).

No, they don't R18, they just become those sad old men who provide all the drugs so the pretty boys will pay attention to them.

Most do age out of it (I did, after age 40 to be exact). There are exceptions, but it’s not like 5,000 hot, fit, young men all of a sudden become wrinkled, flabby elder gays and stay partying literally for days. If it were so, circuit parties nowadays (around since the days of the Saint and the Probe in the 80s) would have 30-40,000 revelers in them.

The sad truth is that all of us feel like outsiders when we observe other people or groups of people enjoying themselves. And we tend to cast judgement in order to distract us from feeling like outsiders.

The solution? Stop obsessing about others. Live your best life by figuring out what you want (not what others want for you, or ask of you).

Yes, r37, I speak of experience. All in the distant past. As I’m sure most gay men have come in contact or at least in near proximity to all these substances.

G has a disgusting flavor but little to no odor. Meth has very pungent by-products but the actual drug is odorless, even when smoked (crack smells more). And lube, well, I’m sure you’re not unfamiliar with that. It only has a fragrance when it’s added to it, as in cherry or mint.

Sure, it’s silly to see grown men dance like little girls, but the dancing, skimpy clothes, and sex seem normal to me.

What doesn’t seem normal is the drug use. It’s stupid when 16-22 year olds do it, but it’s just sad and pathetic when older guys do it. So many of my friends say I’m judgmental or shame them for having fun, but it’s incredibly selfish for grown men to promote this behavior to other gay men (and boys). We should do better.

I guess I fall into the minority who haven't been exposed to those substances R38.

Funny enough it was the last circuit party, big gay event I attended in NYC, that made me realize how mediocre and middle of the road most gay men's sensibilities are. I used to be under the impression that we were fabulous and unique with great taste. Then I arrived at a party later than most, still somewhat sober and got to see things pretty clearly. All I saw were shirtless bodies in cargo shorts wearing new balance shoes and bopping around to a 45 minute version of Donna Sommer's I Feel Love. Not even dancing. So jacked out of their minds they were just bouncing up and down. It just struck me as completely lame. And everyone talks about all the sex. Everyone keeps doing drugs because they can't let go of the possibility that they might hook up to the point where they are too fucked up to even have sex. The whole thing is really everyone looking at each other lusting after people they will never have sex with, taking non-stop hits of drugs only go home and try to jackoff, but blackout with your cargo shorts around your knees.

don't worry r69, most of those circuit gays hate themselves anyway. They are more concerned with what other people are thinking of them than to actually enjoy themselves. Going to those parties is when I realized there is a lid for every pot. It would seem like everyone would want the same things I found attractive and beautiful. It's like you're being told what you should want. But I was never cookie cutter at those events and I still hooked up a few times with guys I thought were way out of my league. And once you do that, it's like why try so hard to fit a mold when there is someone relatively hot according to your personal tastes who wants you for who you are and not because you look like them. You NEVER know what turns someone on. You could remind them of the kid they had a huge crush on in the 11th grade before they transformed into this different person you see before yourself now.

All gay clones are tedious pits of neuroses and psychological vampires.

I've never been to a circuit party. Wild gay parties, sure, but never a circuit party. I have a few friends who were into them. It's like anything - it appeals to a certain group of people. Never bothered me that people are into it.
