Minimally talented actress fumes about having to audition

The indignity: He asked why Diane Kruger thought she should play Helen of Troy.

What a bitch.

by Anonymousreply 1March 16, 2022 4:05 PM

Freddy Kruger wouldn't have to audition!

by Anonymousreply 2March 16, 2022 4:07 PM

Diane Kruger must have auditioned VERY well, because Helen of Troy is supposed to be the most beautiful woman in the world, yet she still got the part.

by Anonymousreply 3March 16, 2022 4:09 PM

I had to read this twice because i thought i missed something. She had to try on a costume to see how she'd look in it and then some pig had the nerve to ask her why she thought she should play the part? THE AUDACITY!

by Anonymousreply 4March 16, 2022 4:10 PM

I remember some reviews commenting at the time what an "unusual" choice she was to play the most beautiful woman in the world!

by Anonymousreply 5March 16, 2022 4:12 PM

Racist skank.

by Anonymousreply 6March 16, 2022 4:15 PM

R3 is right. A war was fought over her beauty. Who'd fight over this actress?

by Anonymousreply 7March 16, 2022 4:16 PM

Yet she allowed Tarantino to choke the shit out of her while he filmed it. How many takes....

by Anonymousreply 8March 16, 2022 4:16 PM

I had completely forgotten about that unintentionally funny cheesefest. So much bad acting. Didn't it win a raspberry?

by Anonymousreply 9March 16, 2022 4:21 PM

Unless you are a major star, you should expect to audition and do costume and screentests.

by Anonymousreply 10March 16, 2022 4:22 PM

Actually, she thought she was auditioning for the role of Helen Lawson and assumed "Troy" was a musical biopic about Troy Donahue. The studio fixed them up for many a film premiere. :

by Anonymousreply 11March 16, 2022 4:22 PM

r2, in English next time, please.

by Anonymousreply 12March 16, 2022 4:27 PM

To be fair anybody playing Helen of Troy would have been under scrutiny and the question asked “why her?” You would never please everybody. I would say a young uma Thurman would have been great. I don’t find her attractive all the time but her looks are unusual and striking enough. Kruger seems blandly good looking.

by Anonymousreply 13March 16, 2022 4:33 PM

She was fine as Helen of Troy. She may not be to your taste but she looked beautiful. Besides, what other actress could have played that part without getting shit from all sides about not being this idiotic idea of the most beautiful woman in the world?

And she's really good in IB. One thing you remember about that movie is her death scene.

Give her a fucking break.

by Anonymousreply 14March 16, 2022 4:40 PM

R14 Norman Reedus, is that you?

by Anonymousreply 15March 16, 2022 4:43 PM

Even Meryl.

I never hear anything good about this woman. I’m serious. So many stories about her being unnecessarily bitchy.

by Anonymousreply 17March 16, 2022 6:01 PM

Mira Sorvino says she still has to audition for parts, despite her Oscar

by Anonymousreply 18March 16, 2022 6:13 PM

She's no Irene Papas.

by Anonymousreply 19March 16, 2022 6:19 PM

She seems a tad precious .

by Anonymousreply 20March 16, 2022 6:49 PM

She's no Kaye Ballard

by Anonymousreply 21March 16, 2022 6:55 PM

She and Orlando Bloom are both forgettable, but he's prettier.

by Anonymousreply 22March 16, 2022 7:03 PM

She’s also tired of being offered Nazi films. It’s hard for her - poor thing.

[quote]“I’ve been offered so many Nazi roles. You couldn’t believe. And I’ve never really wanted to do it. I’ll only do it if it’s more obtuse. Like with Marwen. Same with Inglourious Basterds,” Diane explained to Vulture.

Oh je!

by Anonymousreply 24March 16, 2022 7:42 PM

Just wonder what her grandparents were up to during WWII in Germany.

by Anonymousreply 25March 16, 2022 7:46 PM

There's nothing wrong with what she said. She was made to feel uncomfortable during an audition process, something that's happened to many attractive women.

And Tarantino is known for being a pig to women.

Kruger is a much better actor in her native German. It's a shame she hasn't done more German language work, god knows there's enough German directors around.

by Anonymousreply 26March 16, 2022 7:48 PM

She left hottie Joshua Jackson for unwashed bum Norman Reedus. She's clearly insane.

by Anonymousreply 27March 16, 2022 8:56 PM

It WASN'T an audition, lying moron OP.

It was so some studio big wig could leer at her in costume and pretend he was sophisticated by asking some phony question. Not any auditioning happening.

Sure, not the biggest problem-situation but DON'T MISREPRESENT what's she's saying.

Buck never auditioned.

by Anonymousreply 29March 16, 2022 10:13 PM

Why is she referred to as a racist?

I’ve never understood this. Had she made private comments amongst “friends”?

P.S. Norm Reedus’ girlfriend asked me if I wanted to have a threesome with them, back in the late 90s. LOL!

I declined.

by Anonymousreply 30March 16, 2022 10:38 PM

Isn't she German? I thought germans didn't like being attention seekers post ww2.

by Anonymousreply 31March 16, 2022 10:48 PM

I loved The Bridge. Though, she was the weak link in that. Gorgeous for sure.

Has anyone ever told her sucking a better dick might help avoid the pesky audition situation?

by Anonymousreply 32March 16, 2022 11:34 PM

R32 - The Swedish version of The Bridge was so much better - have you seen that one? Not to be that asshole who is like “the original is better” but if you haven’t seen it - check it out!

by Anonymousreply 33March 16, 2022 11:46 PM

I hope she never has to go out and interview for a job.

by Anonymousreply 34March 16, 2022 11:50 PM

She's a bore. If you want to watch a really talented German actress watch the brilliant Nina Hoss.

by Anonymousreply 35March 17, 2022 6:37 AM

Boo fucking Hoo.

R14 Angelina Jolie would have easily fit the role but she would've probably never agreed to do it. The character is the ultimate damsel in distress.

by Anonymousreply 37March 17, 2022 12:30 PM

She refuses to say what she named her kid (because you know - PRIVACY) and it turns out she named her “Nova.” I found that funny because it’s a name that the teen moms having been using for years.

by Anonymousreply 38March 17, 2022 12:53 PM

Her Helen of Troy was pretty with no charisma. It was a tiny part but she has tiny energy. I dislike Angelina but she would have been amazing. No one would believe she’d fall in love with Orlando Bloom tho.

by Anonymousreply 39March 17, 2022 3:47 PM

I think that I read on AGC.COM that Kruger allegedly has made racist comments about blacks and is reluctant to accept roles with too many black actors in the cast. I read that about Emma Watson as well. Emma refuses to do love scenes with black men. It’s gossip, but hey…

by Anonymousreply 40March 17, 2022 3:50 PM

[quote] Angelina Jolie would have easily fit the role but she would've probably never agreed to do it. The character is the ultimate damsel in distress.

I think she would have gotten shit as well. She gets her regular dose of abuse right here on a regular basis.

by Anonymousreply 41March 17, 2022 4:41 PM

Wolfgang Petersen directed Troy, in case you were wondering why such a Germanic looking woman was given the role of a Greek.

The casting would be highly criticized if it was done today.

by Anonymousreply 42March 17, 2022 4:54 PM

If Angelina Jolie had starred opposite Brad Pitt, their marriages could have broken up sooner.

by Anonymousreply 43March 18, 2022 5:53 PM

Has she ever been asked about being mocked by Anne Hathaway in Ocean's 8?
