The "LGBT community" does not hate Dave Chappelle, OP, only the "T" part does. And even then, only a segment I(a humorless but loud one) of the T community does.

So some trans person was complaining on Twitter that Chappelle did a guest set at the John Mullaney comedy show in Columbus and told a bunch of trans jokes and they were so traumatized. By Chapelle AND Mullaney. No mention of what the joke was. But I’m sure it was just horrible.

And of course everyone is like you poor thing how awful for you. You shouldn’t have to go to a comedy show and hear jokes you don’t like.

I mean, if you think MAGA is an insular bubble, they have nothing on Trans Twitter. Nothing but complaining about everything and every other Trans person on the planet telling them they’re right. And then asking for money for their go fund me. No connection to reality. No one ever calls them out. Well they might, but they get blocked immediately.

On a personal level, comedians seem to be troubled & difficult individuals so I can see how he's turned people off over the years, but I honestly think he makes fun of *everyone*. Since his heyday on the Chapelle Show, he's grown into an old grouchy, get off my lawn type, but his early work still holds up. I don't get the hate for the guy either.

It's not as bad as Eddie Murphy telling "faggots" not to look at him, but it's still bullshit. If you can't figure out that Dave hates you, I don't know what to say.

I've watched every single one of Dave's specials and have found the last few pretty lazy. That bit where he uses his dead trans friend (who cannot contest the narrative now that they're, you know, dead) to tell a story about what an awesome guy he is was bad. He's also just, unsurprisingly and like many rich, successful men over 50, either became or was inherently always conservative. Remember his 'let's give him a chance' bit on SNL re: Trump? Chappelle's blackness confuses people as to what he's really saying and who he really is. He's anti-racist because he's black, but like so many other conservatives he only understands/dislikes discrimination when he and those like him are victims of it. If it's some other group, no biggie.

Ricky Gervais is another one who was doing "I identify as an attack helicopter lolz' material in a pretty recent stand-up show and he's lazy for it, too.

And for the record I think the Trans Brigade on Twitter are a bunch of loons who don't understand that they're giving lazy comedians like DC all the material they could ever hope for with their loonery.

Yes he said some dumb-ass and dangerous things about Covid and about politics, but he's not the Tucker Carlson of Spotify--most of his guests are other comedians or fitness "gurus" with a healthy dose of MMA fighters too, and that is mostly what is audience tunes in for, not his political or Covid opinions

I didn't think his recent special was offensive but I also didn't think it was funny. I used to love him but he's lost his touch.

His schtick is tired and was never even that funny during his peak in the 2000s. He's a favorite of white straight bros for a reason.

His "transphobic" joke was talking about the guy who rushed him on the stage with a gun that was fake but shot out a knife. So it was a "trans" gun. That was it. That was the joke. Mulaney had him on stage at the same time and hugged Chappelle which was a confirmation to trans loons that Mulaney also wants to hunt down and kill trans people.

He happily tours with Joe Rogan who likens black communities to "Planet of the Apes" and considers Kanye "Slavery was a choice" West to be one of his best friends. He gets his money and goes home to his Asian wife in his upscale community in a predominately white midwestern neighborhood. Watch Chappelle give a speech at his town's board meeting on how he's against building a development in his area for poor people. THAT's the real Dave Chappelle.
